I was in my 3rd year in university, still remember that night I was on my way back to dorm and walked by GameStop. I was so jealous to everyone who's getting ps4 and Xbox one. And now I got a job and I bought it both. But still nothing beats the feeling of being part of the history.

That was a real thing in my country. There was only 1 store with a midnight launch in my area. I remember walking superfast to my car.
i remember when gta v first released there was a dude with a gun on his side at gamestop while we were waiting in line i think he was prepared.

I was here at this event. Those were the days queuing up for new release stuff. Meeting people who were just as energetic and passionate about the products. Even the Iphone releases were fun to wait in line. It would become an event in itself. Now it's just beat the scalpers online or wait until inventory gets better.

The 227 guy is a liar. I was there with #221 receipt and this guy just cut me and was trying to trade-in his ps3 and was denied. He was asked to queue behind me and thats how he got his 227. I went there at 10PM.

I was very first in line to get a PS4 at the GameStop at great mall in Milpitas, California on Black Friday of 2013. I remember that the second person to get in line wasn’t until at least 30 minutes later. I waited a total of about 4 1/2 hours for doors to open at GameStop.
The good old days when we could socialise I imagine there be no queue for the next gen.

I tried to buy a Ps4 today and no where for 50 miles around me had any. Why wouldnt places like Gamestop get a bigger than usual first day supply on a new console? I asked the guy at Gamestop and he acted like they only had a few to sell today and they didnt know when they were getting more. This is a big launch and they're supposed to be a dedicated video game store. They need to step it up.

I remember going and just walking up and waiting in line, getting the xbox and the week after the PS4 at their midnight launch with no preorder. So easy. My ps5 i didn't sleep for 3 days but got it at launch without preorder. Wasnt easy

"It's interesting how most of the people we talked to are only getting one or two games..." Is this guy for real?! Those people just spent close to $500-$570 on the console and those 1-2 games (that's including tax). Plus the line up isn't full of "must have" games anyways.

That's not likely to be the case in the US.
To my understanding, brick-and-mortar retailers, such as Best Buy, are allowing customers who pre-ordered the system the ability to pay for the system outright days before the system's release date.
Better still, you can schedule the exact hour you'd like to retrieve your system, which I imagine would help thin out crowds.
I was a sophomore in newyork university and still remember queueing up for that cutting edge tech.Now my kids would never get that feeling

When I picked up my launch day ps5, it was a line of about 30 people who were all turned away due to their being no stock except preorders. I waited for them to leave before going in to retrieve mine. I was checking my rear view mirror on the drive home lol.
