    I never knew adding shortening could make such a difference! I can't wait to make some of these.

    I agree, sugar cookies need a firm frosting. I have been able to get mine to a perfect consistency using all butter but I do think it takes a little trial and error to get a good feel for the perfect frosting consistency. Bloopers are fun!

    Do we need the shortening or is it okay without it

      You’re welcome to use all butter…as butter adds more flavor and creamier, BUT it also adds more moisture making the frosting more susceptible to melting. Where as, the shortening will give a bit more texture and gives more stability. I hope this helps

    How do you pack, store, and transport them eithout frosting melting or getting messed up?

      The frosting will harden a bit. Makes them easier to pack.

    Will this have to be refrigerated because of the milk in the recipe?

      I never had. But that’s a good thought. If you feel comfortable keeping them in the fridge then please do. They will preserve longer too
