Exactly the same i have done with my 997.1 Carerra S, but i have also complete Fabspeed exhaust with 200 Cel cats and RSS Tarmac series engine mounts, center radiator and low.temp thermostat (a must have on these cars) Now passing 118000 miles unopened engine, NO problems, the car performs as new
Good to hear yours is going well! This one is similar mileage at around 125k or so, but also felt like new. How does yours sound with the exhaust and sports cat?
Ive got a sneaky feeling that these series 1 carrera s models are gonna explode in value in the future ? They are imho they are the closest incarnation to the air-cooled 964 rs models of the late 80s 90s ? 991 was the moment porsche lost there way as they were never a car meant to be that big ?
I wouldn't be surprised if you were correct on this. Not the first time I've heard it either. Now definitely seems like the time to jump in if you can 👍
Great video, good comments. And what an engine ! I was lucky to own a 997 gen 2 Carrera 4GTS. Porsche truly makes some awesome cars. And I agree with you, there is no equivalent to a 911. Power and speed aren’t the only criteria. The feel at the wheel, that’s the stuff 👍
I have an almost identical 997.1 although it has the stock steering wheel. It’s as brilliant all rounder and an absolute bargain for the price they go for. Hand on heart it handles nearly as well as my NSX and that’s worth a lot more. The size is perfect and makes it very useable. I can’t honestly see why a bigger 991 would be better
Congrats on your first 911! Last April, I also purchased my first 911 Carrera with 46k miles on it with one previous owner who loved the car. Best regards
I still prefer the 997 over new gen 911's, even though its not the fastest 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds is still quick enough but I would Tune the ECU to stage 1, upgrade headers, downpipe, full Borla exhaust system, K&N intake, Coilovers & Strut bars
I've only ever driven a 911 for a short drive. Just like this 997.1 but was a carrera 4s. Felt soo solid and secure around the bends but best thing about it was the engine noise
Would love to try the 4s as a comparison. To be fair with the weight of the engine over the rear axle even the rwd model feels like it has loads of grip!
I like this vid because I understand the underwhelming feeling that one experiences when first driving a 911 on a short test drive. But I also understand the deity like worship of the car that the owner has for it. To get these cars you have to drive them for an extended period. When I first drove my 997.1 base Carrera, I was underwhelmed - it didn’t feel fast, the turn-in was odd, the noise good but not great. I didn’t understand the hype. 150 miles into a 200 mile journey home and then I realised how good these cars are. A Focus RS is good; better torque, power and predictable handling, but it’s not a Porsche 911.
Thanks - interesting to hear about your first experience too! I think I drove the car for long enough to get a decent feel for it, and while I wouldn't necessarily say it felt underwhelming for me, I can see where you're coming from. I think I mentioned it in the video but it didn't immediately have that "special event" feeling that you get climbing into something more exotic. However, I feel like by the end of the drive I definitely understood why people enjoy them so much. A personal highlight for me was probably the driving position, particularly after the RS, and also the feel of the gear change. Noise wise, this one has an aftermarket cat back so it was probably a little louder than standard. Anyway, thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
This 997 looks stunning, and the videography makes it look even better!
Thanks, I really appreciate it! ☺️
Finally! A video with full description and LINKS with all the mods. I have kept my 997.1 intact but now starting to make some mods.
No worries, hope it was helpful!
That’s the car I’m planning to buy in the next two years … thanks for the video great job
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! And great choice of car for next time, you'll love it 👍
997.2 is a bit safer bet.
@@Ma-l2-tyNLess visceral and a tad less old school.
Great review
This channel needs to grow
Thanks, that's the plan! Just need to find some time 😁
Great camera work , really impressed.
Great editing, great angles.
Thank you very much! 😊
Beautiful 911 in beautiful scenery.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
The Lobster Claws look great thank you for not spraying them black!
They are a lovely looking wheel 😀

@@CarswithJamesMosley its like eargasm when passing 5500 rpm to 7200 allmoust like a GT3 i would say
Pissing myself at the owner when you pass 5000rpm
He goes rather quiet 😂
What a sharp 997! Personally I would add a ducktail or aerokit spoiler, but looks great as is. The lobster claw wheels have a vibe too 🦞
Thanks - I'm a big fan of the wheels also!
Great to see another take on Matt's car having a very similar one myself. Great video and keep up the good work.
Thanks, appreciate it 😊

@@CarswithJamesMosley A 981 Cayman S, less powerful of course, but more fun !

I agree, the newer 911 models look huge compared to the 997!

How are you enjoying your 911?
What a stunningly beautiful car.
Thanks I'm sure the owners will appreciate that ☺️
Well done lads and best regards from a 981 Cayman S owner from Dublin. 😎
Thanks mate, enjoy your Cayman!
Nice video, looking forward to this channel growing.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Loving the steering wheel ! Apparently in England that will be an mot fail soon 😢
Agreed it does look awesome, feels good too! 👌
It can't be an M.O.T failure. Not every car has airbags
Some detailig and ceramic coatings will be nice on the car 😎👌 nice car buddy
This car is now ceramic coated :)

The 997 looks significantly smaller up against the newer 911 models which is nice for hustling it along small British b-roads!
Nice work on this one James! 👏
Thanks Matt, glad you like it! 😁

@@CarswithJamesMosley well you will probably only find the differences at the limit but if it's not my car I'm not driving it at the limit
Nice looking at you boys, but can we see a forward facing camera please…my goodness. The gauges, the road, the sense of speed or acceleration. Thanks
Feedback appreciated, thanks!

Stunning. Shame the steering wheel is on the wrong side.
Thanks, it certainly is a good looking car!
Beautiful car
Thanks, I'm sure the owners will appreciate it 😃
Looks beautiful. Does the car scrape going up any ramps at that height?
Yes, it has been known to scrape on occasion, but you can usually drive around it/avoid steep ramps etc!
Is this wide body version? Or is that 4s only
No, this is the standard body 👍
Is this meteor grey?
Seal grey I believe
Thank you!
are you the artist taxi driver?
When you say 335i do you mean bmw? I think a 997 is more of an occasion than a beemer.
Haha, no it was 355 as in Ferrari!
looks like a rough ride
Surprisingly not as harsh as you'd think!
Lose the music..please
Lovely … probably the sweet spot….. but that steering wheel 😳
Thanks, it is a lovely car! I agree the wheel is definitely not to everyone's taste but it feels great in the hand 👌
If only it sounded better…
Sounds pretty good in person to be fair!
Steering wheel looks out of place on that car
