Thomas Bruce's Daevite fanfic is so lit that it almost became canon

It is in several canons in timelines. But it’s still insane and kinda tragic that a single man completely altered and basically erased a peaceful modern day society just because he preferred their tyrannical blood soaked ancestors.

There is middle ground - there was anomalous Deavite Empire, but not as powerful as Thomas Bruce wanted it. And it fallen due to slave rebellion. There was cult of Scarlet King but it was limited to really higher ups of Empire and was secret. There was some anomalous tech in use, but not on mass scale. So actual-actual history was not as creazy and brutal as Thomas Bruce wanted, but also not as peaceful as it come out in the end.

      OK....
      That's actually pretty good.
Now all we need is Ion's story. He lead a slave rebellion in the original canon, leading to the fall of the Daevites, but the rise of Sarkicism....
So there was a period of history in which he ruled the country. Or most of it.

@@alyseleem2692 I mean you could also say that that part is complete fiction made by Thomas Bruce... Like the Grand Karcist Ion was never actually a part of Daevite history or wasn't as instrumental as being the one that led to a slave revolt. He could have just been an active player in the area.

I don't buy the idea of him creating most known SCPs in the blink of an eye, or with pen and paper. Middle ground is good. Sarkists know their history. That's it.
Ion himself was the son of a Daeva. A Daeva! He earned a place in that history with blood. I ain't taking it away for some Aesop.

    • @The0Stroy
      @The0Stroy 3 года назад +3

Another idea - Daeva were potent reality benders, and created Thomas Bruce in future to actively move themselves into fiction/parallel reality to safe themselves from rebellion of Sarkicists? Also Daevastan, is "shadow" or "stepping stone" for real Daevas to return to reality - even if it is not Daevite empire. But that area can soon get nasty for Foundation and groups of reality benders will show up all over the place.

There are also elements of certain Asian Scenarios/Tropes seen in this one as well, how an Increadibly Despotic Empire gets replaced by a more enlightened group of people either through reform or out right toppling of the Despotic Regime,
China for example was sure full of conflict and at times despotic rule but its not always that way and it was one of the 1st states to abolish Sl-ery for a time and at least had more upwards mobility for the Peasants with the Imperial Exams,
The Mongolian Empire may have been brutal Conquerors but they also were tolerant of religion and valued Meritocracy, the Ilkhanate even used Muslim Statesmen to basically run most of the day-to-day operations,
The later Timurid Dynasty produced the most Violent group of Rulers in Central Asia 2nd only to the Mongols but it also produced a Peaceful Scholarly "Emperor".

Alright. That is true. Very true,in fact....
But what confuses me is the rest. What do you mean the Scarlet King doesn't exist?! What about Sarkicism? And the Mekhanites? All of these people and more are connected by cause and effect to this empire. Anomalies of all shapes and sizes have been found. Their culture has history stretching across....
Everything! Even the two brothers! Even 682,the son of the King!
      I'm confused.
Could all that come from a single guy writing fanfiction into reality? Why the ### would anyone do that? Why? What's in it for him?!

@DEEPFOXJUDE Much of the former Soviet Union comes to mind; Russia has a former gangster as its official president, and criminal syndicates spawned by the Soviet union exist in sufficient strength that they're probably running several entire towns as fronts for prostitution and the like. Various Islamic states also tolerate similar activities to varying degrees, especially when the victimizers are Muslim and the victims are not. In the US, Detroit and Chicago are pretty close to this level of urban decay. The entire Narco culture in Mexico and the Colombian cartels, also. And of course, these are only the examples I've heard about; the really bad places probably remain unknown to the global media, either because they're being intentionally suppressed to prevent people from losing faith in the world's governments, or simply because whatever mafias are running the place have managed to keep it under wraps. The point is, the Daeva are an exaggerration of things that really happen, not a completely fantastical thing.

@DEEPFOXJUDE I'm sorry. Your question needs a far more thorough explanation:
The Scarlet King isn't an ideal,in this version. He is the representative of the conflict between two ideals, the Law of Blood and the Law of Concrete. He is very much an existing being, but he exists outside the reaches of our current reality, and cannot currently enter it. Thus,he needs to be empowered in order to do so. The Foundation, through it's study and attempts to explain the anamolous and the rituals behind it as well as prevent or use them, ironically does exactly that.
How does this fit with his mythical origin story?

It's a nice twist on the perception of the past of Earth as mythical and that nor the Foundation nor the cultists knew the truth.
Yet I can't I love it completely, mostly for how It handwaves away the supernatural elements of the culture. Sure, not having It be a bloodthirsty cannibal empire is legit. But why remove the botanical and magical part of the culture? These things ARE part of the SCP universe, and it's safe to assume that ancient cultures knew more about It than modern day people overall.
Having a Nation that stood in the middle ground between the real Occult world and the "Normalcy" world would have been a much more interesting situation, compared to just go "lulz no ACKTUALLY It was a normal population with a normal history".

If Daevastan has anything resembling an Ethnic Nationalist movement, they might consider the notion of a supernaturally-powerful, potentially world-dominating Daevite Empire a tempting notion, and seek to reclaim what they see as their "rightful place" in the world.

realistically no one, and especially not the nationalists, would take an orientalist book seriously. they would have to know about the anomalous past of the book first and even then who knows if they would consider it the depiction of the empire their "rightful place", or a bastardisation of their cultural identity (which is centred around being free slaves, rather than slave masters)

I'd really like to see more SCPs that build on unsolved mythology or religion AND more SCPs that connect to stuff like that. Also, the Daevites share similarity to the Proto-Indo-Europeans, so I hope an SCP comes out that builds on that, considering their word for "ruling-class" or "divine" comes from the Proto-Indo-Iranian word for "God".
So, the changes of SCP-6140 ARE the true timeline, and it deviated when Thomas Bruce had the ritual conducted to adapt history to his writings, which was what our prior knowledge was (the timeline where we have SCPs 073 and 076 as Cain and Abel), but now we know that it is actually a changed timeline.

This is one of those times the Trope of "It was all a dream" is actually done well.

There’s needs to be a full on tale where the daevite empire returns in full force and a full on war breaks out between the foundation and other GOIs that the foundation has asked them to help out before. Maybe the chaos insurgency can put their differences down with the goc and the foundation to fight the daevite empire in its full force. That has to be the most epic tale I ever came up with.
