I honestly can’t express how thankful I am for this channel in words. It’s the reason I got into Lovecraft, 40k and SCP. I remember always being sad every time that one of the Cthulhu mythos episodes ended because they’re so short and I still feel the same way with the longer videos now! What a fantastic channel and community :)

Yea, if it wasn't for this channel I may have never found SCP. Soooo thankful for this man. I had heard, and was into the Lovecraft mythos. Just had a hard time getting into it at times. But after finding this channel and listening to his Lovecraft videos I found it easier to get into. I am way more into the SCP tho, I can't thank this man enough lol.
I thought the human sacrifices themselves gave it away, and assumed it was either some completely unrelated entity just lying to get sacrifices, or Mab.

All it did was suggest that the unnamed queen wasn't a friend of humanity. You could care about enslaved humans without giving a cr*p about enslaved lab animals.
man I just read this one last week, also the 75% is also a hint, as Mab represented the nobility, which normally takes the smaller percentage of a population, so she essentially wiped out the "commoners"
In other words, The Foundation weren’t stopping Mab…they were helping her! That also explains why the percentage of Fae being banished to SCP-4000 was so high

I've discovered recently that my mother has watched some of your videos. She did so after I told her about the SCP Foundation a while ago. She says her favourite is 2000.
one of my favorites during these latest trends of SCP 'Re-imaginings', as the original story The Factory is also one of my favorite 001 proposal, with this one taking the newer canon narrative tropes (such as the Fae being a fellow dominant species that exist alongside mankind at the past) and applying the author's own interpretation.
It's nice to see story elements added to the scpverse that most canons will adopt. I'm definitely in favor of the fae being contemporary to humans thing you mentioned.
I’m honestly glad Ralliston went and wrote this article, as it manages to rewrite the events of The Factory story in a way to include the modern tropes and concepts regarding the Fae in The SCP Universe today. Not to mention it’s the pilot of one of my favorite canons in the SCP Universe “120 Archive”.
I got into this Scp-001 by an ambros restaurant menu article. I was surprised and became very interested after reading it. I’m glad he’s finally reading this.
Eh, I'm usually a fan of more story and character driven SCPs, but here it really added nothing special. The original factory proposal was just vague and creepy enough to get the imagination going, this just tells you everything literally like a comic book.

It's funny to imagine the SCP council just trying to bring logic and explaining to team together against the common enemy and Rollander is just acting like a overly obsessed Chuunibyou.
This channel gets me through work when i have to wash equipment which usually takes a few hours. Delving into the scp lore has been one of my favorite things for the last few years. Keep up the great work!
This series is amazing. Just recently got into the SCP universe and this is my go to for learning about it. I don't know what other people say but you sir could give Morgan Freeman and run for his money when it comes to narration. Your story telling is so engaging I sometimes forget I'm listening to a yt video and not an audio book. Great job and look forward to more in the future.
Personally I really did like this one but I gotta say I like the original better, just because I like the factory better when it was this big malevolent, faceless, entity that was gaining power from people using as items leading up to something big rather than just a camouflage for the big trickster fairy queen

I really like this 001 proposal, both the original and this reimagining. Don't have anything against the Kactus-verse take on 1000 and the Fae, but I do prefer the idea that the Fae are magic, the Children technology and humanity a kind of halfway.
I really enjoy both this canon and the Kactusverse! The Fae and Children of the Night are two of my favorite concepts in SCP, and I love how many people are writing entire canons about them. Also in my own opinion, I like to find ways to mix both of these canons in a way that fits my own head canon.
@@undeadprinceofchaos3731 I personally prefer this take in regards to the Fae and Children of the Night, pry more for the implication that the Children aren't inherently evil/cruel as much as anything else though I do also like the idea that they became incredibly technologically advanced vs humans being primitive and the Fae being magical.
@@MLaak86 I also prefer the idea of The Children of the Night being highly advanced rather than how they’re presented in the Kactusverse. It’s one of the main reasons they’re one of my favorite concepts. I mean just the idea of Bigfoot as a species being ancient super intelligent apes that can create advance technology from botany and fauna is so unique and fascinating!

Kaktusverse -1000 is easily the worst part about it. The whole point of SCP-1000 is that they’re actually a highly advanced sapient race that we’ve been propagandized into thinking are fictional, dumb apes. Making them actually be dumb apes created by the Fae certainly doesn’t make them more interesting. Also, idk how much the Children of the Night are supposed to symbolize technology? Certainly not technology as we know it with steel and electricity, since everything they use is based around bio-engineered organisms.
Both this and the Kactusverse are great articles involving The Fae and Children of the Night, and I enjoy them both. I agree that the Kactusverse is more enjoyable and well written, but there’s definitely some delight to be found in this article and canon
@@undeadprinceofchaos3731 Most definitely. Given time to be fleshed out I feel that this interpretation could quite easily rival the DJKaktus works. Kaktus just kinda has the edge there because he's had more time and released more material. That and a lot of my preference for the Kaktusverse is because it delves so deeply into myth and legend due to its establishment starting out antidiluvian. I'm a bit of a sucker for that sorta 'modern myths' style of storytelling.
@@McDonaldWilliamT Same here. I’m a sucker for articles that involve myth and legends, especially ones that tie into a timeline of ancient history. The Kactusverse definitely nails it with that aspect! The only downside is it’s interpretation of The Children of the Night.

Curious if this will lead into more videos on the “From 120’s Archives” canon. This 001 is a major cornerstone of that canon, which is ongoing. Also, this canon does involve some articles from the Polish-speaking branch and not all of them are translated.
I hope he covers more of the canon too! 120’s Archives is one of my favorite canons, not to mention it is another canon that focuses on Fae and the Children of the Night. I’d love to see him cover SCP-6789, it’s a great example of nature’s wrath.
Scps like this one are mildly infuriating because they write the scp foundation and the people who run it as utterly incompetent and having problem solving and deduction skills of a nine year old and it makes me question if this even is the scp foundation, like how exactly did they not deduce that a lying queen of deception, who can steal names was not behind this especially with the hint from the administrator and the whole spell the administrator pulled , like how exactly is a queen that wanted to help the poor and downtrodden , demanding human sacrifice
i would say so but as far as the article goes the fea is not really fond of us either, their civilization keep us a pet or in a zoo it seem. Using us as cattle for nourish does not seem far fetch as the other queen goal is to help her own people first and it does not seem us human is in the rebellion from the get go. Its the children of the night who deal the final blow along with us it seem since the fea is to busy with themselves.
@@KPX01 Well technically that was the aristocratic Fae, who not only treat humans and Children of the Night as animals, but also see and treat the lesser common Fae as lower class citizens. In other articles from this canon, the commoner Fae can actually get along with both humans and Children of the Night.

This one I don't think portrays them as incompetent they simply had little information. The need for sacrifices doesn't really mean the entity is evil and keeping it connected to our reality via these sacrifices was seen as necessary incase Mab returned. I personally wouldn't file it under the "incompetent Foundation" category unlike the one where they turned the Fae into iron.
Caring about downtrodden fey does not in any way mean caring about non-fey. In the real world and SCP universe, people are complex and not easily summed up in a paragraph of morals and preferences.

I liked the original, and this is a great reimagining. I really like that it incorporates newer cannon such as the fae, and uses a modernized writing style which is very well done, as well as the much needed added length. I loved this.
First Factory Story - Horror. Second Factory Story - Fantasy. I prefer the original Story my self but this is still awesome. Respect and keep up the epic work.

Probably because their stories generally feel forced rather than a natural flow of circumstances and choices that people in and around the situation would take.
The tone of storytelling is completely different. This feels like an action adventure comic book, instead of sci-fi horror just vague enough to get your imagination going. I liked this story style in the Oroborus cycle, the other stories like it feel so redundant

Thank you Mr The Exploring Serious, for all your videos, but more so the SCP one's. If it wasn't for you I would have no knowledge of this awesome mythos. I remember listening to random videos on RUclips riding shotgun to the job site, drifting in and out of sleep. It just so happened to be one of the ouroboros cycle videos, drifting out of sleep and it caught my attention. It was around the part where one of the 05s was riding on the back of 682 with his whip. Realized what was going on and I didn't fall back asleep. Didn't even want to work when we got the the job site lol. When I got home that afternoon took a shower, got dressed, then sat in bed and watched all of the ouroboros cycle in one sitting. I love the reference to "calming rituals" with the guy in 1918. I know magic and such is real in this setting, but I still feel like this is code for giving him a bunch of whiskey.
All the hints that point towards it being Maab are kind of wasted in the face of the overwhelmingly obvious statement of fact; good deities don't usually ominously speak to you in your mind and say feed me.
The lore and established universes like the cactusverse makes for good reading, and is a lot of fun. But I'm wary to consider it any more than one of many universes of the Foundation. If the main factions, from the groups of interest, to races like the Fae, are all put in as core actors in the Foundation and the setting, it loses its potential and becomes a community built story, but also one that starts to feel a little more generic and comparable to other stories. I like this entry, but I'm reminded of how important it is to keep all of these possibilities and canons as extras rather than essentials.
Honestly this one kind of sucks. The twist was so obvious it hurts I mean seriously why would the supposed ally of humanity and the children of the night want or need human sacrifices. This whole thing honest paints the foundation as kind of incompetent and had it been set any later in their timeline I would have considered the whole thing laughable.
For real. If they really thought they were bad enough to warrant a raid, just bomb the facility at that point. Also the use of other SCPs like 2000 to get this tangled mess working doesn't sit right with me. I don't like people using other's work to make their mess prettier. The original was definitely better, more layers and complexity doesn't make a work any better.
To be fair, having a benevolent entity require human sacrific is not the weirdest thing the foundation ever faced. My main gripe with this story is why did instead of comunicating, the fae decided to attack instead? It like declaring war on someone who just defeated the army that tried to attack you.
@@nayhaun6300 actually the use of 2000 seemed like a very foundation thing to do to me. Why put any "real" humans or even D class into harms way when you have a machine that can just make people from scratch. It's the practical solution to a horrid problem but honestly at that point the foundation should have figured out they were being tricked as so ally of humanity would want or need human sacrifices. I get that this version of the foundation is basically brand new and as such very naive but like a child could put 2 and 2 together ya know.
Given the Dreaded Titania SCP, I was wondering when we'd come to Mab ( in folklore there are two courts of Faery the Saelie or Summer Cort and the Unsealie or Winter Court, the Queens of each have many names but since Shakespeare the names seem to have been somewhat standardized, Mab and Titania)

The biggest hint on the final revelations, the empowered avatar wear spectral crown and wield spectral scepter, not really the symbol of popular revolutionary and patron of invention.
My only problem with this is that there really weren't any "humans" in the modern sense of the word 300,000 years ago: around that time Homo Heidlbergensis was /just/ beginning to split into Homo Neanderthalensis and Homo Sapiens. Probably just semantics but worth noting since there's no evidence that the ability for abstraction or cohesion of large social groups goes back that far and it's debated how much linguistic ability Heidlebergensis would even have...

So in this continuity (story,etc), the 05 council is (was?) composed, or has (had?) in it, of some pretty heavy hitting magic users? I guess, getting on the SCP-foundation's bad side to the point the council decides to leave their comfy shadowy "this place kinda always sounds like a super villains lair" secret HQ building(s) to join in on a raid really is the definition of "You done goofed up, pal." Cause compared to that, and knowing how brutal the 05 council can be in its decision-making (which reflects the individuals composing it pretty well, as in how they got no issues in dispensing gruesome fates out), the heavily armed foundation task forces with no moral dilemmas or issue in following an 05 council directive order to terminate someone on sight are I suppose a far more merciful way to go than if the 05 council (plus Administrator) decide to come a calling and knock down your doorstep.
As newer SCP canon has revealed that magic (thaumaturgy) is a real, quantifiable, studiable force akin to a rule of nature, it's made less and less sense that their forces don't make use of it, so I'm glad to see it show up here.
@@danieljames1868 I suppose them not using it depends a bit on how much the SCP-foundation is attempting to stick to normality. In some stories, they really attempt to not use anything anomalous to the best of their ability, because it's going up against their mission statement, and makes them anomalous (though they kinda are to begin with.) In others, they put themselves firmly on the other side of the veil, and heavily utilize anomalies or anomalous aspects (such as magic) in their mission to secure, contain, and to protect. Even in this second sort of scenario, there is a difference in the degree of how much anomalous antics they get up to: Do they merely have a research department that looks into such things? Or full on warlocks, wizards, and extremely powerful magic users walking around the place to blast up threats from the unknown? One of the O5 council seems to always be a powerful magic expert regardless, but it's interesting to wonder how much the other members have taken to learning the craft too. The council themselves are also heavily anomalous in pretty much every tale and version, and seem to barely count as mere mortal humans that have any business enforcing normality most of the time...more like extremely powerful, morally bankrupt demigods with a singular goal in running the foundation while chasing after their own agendas. So in a sense, depending on your point of view, they either made a massive sacrifice by giving up normality and the chance to ever live in what they hope to accomplish...or are the biggest hypocrites you will ever find.
The degree to which thaumaturgy is a breach of the local perception of "reality" is debateable; it's not like they've hesitated to consider things like color or specific numbers as SCPs, but there's no entry for thaumaturgy, keter-class though it would be. EDIT: That said, there are no versions of the foundation not fit perfectly by the word "hypocrite"...
I really hate these stories where every character is a complete moron. It's especially bad for SCPs though. The foundation can be arrogant, cold, brutal and even straight up malevolent; but stupid? I suppose they could be naive as the Foundation is so new at this point, but I don't think naivety covers all the stupidity in this story. I'd love to hear more about the mystery flesh pit canon instead.
Isn't the queen's gambit that boat that Oliver queen and his supposedly died (but Oliver lived on a island (and other places) came back) and became the hood later known as arrow?
It's always sort of bothered me that, when they were introduced in the original 001 and SCP-4000, the Fae weren't allowed to be called "The Fae" because that's their name, and names hold power for them. But nowadays, they're just called the Fae regardless.

one of my favorites during these latest trends of SCP 'Re-imaginings', as the original story The Factory is also one of my favorite 001 proposal, with this one taking the newer canon narrative tropes (such as the Fae being a fellow dominant species that exist alongside mankind at the past) and applying the author's own interpretation.
It's nice to see story elements added to the scpverse that most canons will adopt. I'm definitely in favor of the fae being contemporary to humans thing you mentioned.
I’m honestly glad Ralliston went and wrote this article, as it manages to rewrite the events of The Factory story in a way to include the modern tropes and concepts regarding the Fae in The SCP Universe today. Not to mention it’s the pilot of one of my favorite canons in the SCP Universe “120 Archive”.
I got into this Scp-001 by an ambros restaurant menu article. I was surprised and became very interested after reading it. I’m glad he’s finally reading this.
Eh, I'm usually a fan of more story and character driven SCPs, but here it really added nothing special. The original factory proposal was just vague and creepy enough to get the imagination going, this just tells you everything literally like a comic book.

This series is amazing. Just recently got into the SCP universe and this is my go to for learning about it. I don't know what other people say but you sir could give Morgan Freeman and run for his money when it comes to narration. Your story telling is so engaging I sometimes forget I'm listening to a yt video and not an audio book. Great job and look forward to more in the future.

I really like this 001 proposal, both the original and this reimagining. Don't have anything against the Kactus-verse take on 1000 and the Fae, but I do prefer the idea that the Fae are magic, the Children technology and humanity a kind of halfway.
I really enjoy both this canon and the Kactusverse! The Fae and Children of the Night are two of my favorite concepts in SCP, and I love how many people are writing entire canons about them.
Also in my own opinion, I like to find ways to mix both of these canons in a way that fits my own head canon.

It’s one of the main reasons they’re one of my favorite concepts. I mean just the idea of Bigfoot as a species being ancient super intelligent apes that can create advance technology from botany and fauna is so unique and fascinating!

Kaktusverse -1000 is easily the worst part about it. The whole point of SCP-1000 is that they’re actually a highly advanced sapient race that we’ve been propagandized into thinking are fictional, dumb apes. Making them actually be dumb apes created by the Fae certainly doesn’t make them more interesting.
Also, idk how much the Children of the Night are supposed to symbolize technology? Certainly not technology as we know it with steel and electricity, since everything they use is based around bio-engineered organisms.
Honestly? I prefer the Kaktusverse take on the Fae and the Children of the Night. That said however this is a pretty interesting take on things.
Both this and the Kactusverse are great articles involving The Fae and Children of the Night, and I enjoy them both. I agree that the Kactusverse is more enjoyable and well written, but there’s definitely some delight to be found in this article and canon
@@undeadprinceofchaos3731 Most definitely. Given time to be fleshed out I feel that this interpretation could quite easily rival the DJKaktus works. Kaktus just kinda has the edge there because he's had more time and released more material. That and a lot of my preference for the Kaktusverse is because it delves so deeply into myth and legend due to its establishment starting out antidiluvian. I'm a bit of a sucker for that sorta 'modern myths' style of storytelling.
@@McDonaldWilliamT Same here. I’m a sucker for articles that involve myth and legends, especially ones that tie into a timeline of ancient history. The Kactusverse definitely nails it with that aspect! The only downside is it’s interpretation of The Children of the Night.

Curious if this will lead into more videos on the “From 120’s Archives” canon. This 001 is a major cornerstone of that canon, which is ongoing.
Also, this canon does involve some articles from the Polish-speaking branch and not all of them are translated.
I hope he covers more of the canon too! 120’s Archives is one of my favorite canons, not to mention it is another canon that focuses on Fae and the Children of the Night.
I’d love to see him cover SCP-6789, it’s a great example of nature’s wrath.

Scps like this one are mildly infuriating because they write the scp foundation and the people who run it as utterly incompetent and having problem solving and deduction skills of a nine year old and it makes me question if this even is the scp foundation, like how exactly did they not deduce that a lying queen of deception, who can steal names was not behind this especially with the hint from the administrator and the whole spell the administrator pulled , like how exactly is a queen that wanted to help the poor and downtrodden , demanding human sacrifice
i would say so but as far as the article goes the fea is not really fond of us either, their civilization keep us a pet or in a zoo it seem. Using us as cattle for nourish does not seem far fetch as the other queen goal is to help her own people first and it does not seem us human is in the rebellion from the get go. Its the children of the night who deal the final blow along with us it seem since the fea is to busy with themselves.
@@KPX01 Well technically that was the aristocratic Fae, who not only treat humans and Children of the Night as animals, but also see and treat the lesser common Fae as lower class citizens. In other articles from this canon, the commoner Fae can actually get along with both humans and Children of the Night.

This one I don't think portrays them as incompetent they simply had little information. The need for sacrifices doesn't really mean the entity is evil and keeping it connected to our reality via these sacrifices was seen as necessary incase Mab returned. I personally wouldn't file it under the "incompetent Foundation" category unlike the one where they turned the Fae into iron.
Caring about downtrodden fey does not in any way mean caring about non-fey. In the real world and SCP universe, people are complex and not easily summed up in a paragraph of morals and preferences.

Probably because their stories generally feel forced rather than a natural flow of circumstances and choices that people in and around the situation would take.
The tone of storytelling is completely different. This feels like an action adventure comic book, instead of sci-fi horror just vague enough to get your imagination going. I liked this story style in the Oroborus cycle, the other stories like it feel so redundant

Thank you Mr The Exploring Serious, for all your videos, but more so the SCP one's. If it wasn't for you I would have no knowledge of this awesome mythos. I remember listening to random videos on RUclips riding shotgun to the job site, drifting in and out of sleep. It just so happened to be one of the ouroboros cycle videos, drifting out of sleep and it caught my attention. It was around the part where one of the 05s was riding on the back of 682 with his whip. Realized what was going on and I didn't fall back asleep. Didn't even want to work when we got the the job site lol. When I got home that afternoon took a shower, got dressed, then sat in bed and watched all of the ouroboros cycle in one sitting. I love the reference to "calming rituals" with the guy in 1918. I know magic and such is real in this setting, but I still feel like this is code for giving him a bunch of whiskey.
All the hints that point towards it being Maab are kind of wasted in the face of the overwhelmingly obvious statement of fact; good deities don't usually ominously speak to you in your mind and say feed me.

The lore and established universes like the cactusverse makes for good reading, and is a lot of fun. But I'm wary to consider it any more than one of many universes of the Foundation. If the main factions, from the groups of interest, to races like the Fae, are all put in as core actors in the Foundation and the setting, it loses its potential and becomes a community built story, but also one that starts to feel a little more generic and comparable to other stories. I like this entry, but I'm reminded of how important it is to keep all of these possibilities and canons as extras rather than essentials.

Honestly this one kind of sucks. The twist was so obvious it hurts I mean seriously why would the supposed ally of humanity and the children of the night want or need human sacrifices. This whole thing honest paints the foundation as kind of incompetent and had it been set any later in their timeline I would have considered the whole thing laughable.
For real. If they really thought they were bad enough to warrant a raid, just bomb the facility at that point. Also the use of other SCPs like 2000 to get this tangled mess working doesn't sit right with me. I don't like people using other's work to make their mess prettier. The original was definitely better, more layers and complexity doesn't make a work any better.
To be fair, having a benevolent entity require human sacrific is not the weirdest thing the foundation ever faced. My main gripe with this story is why did instead of comunicating, the fae decided to attack instead? It like declaring war on someone who just defeated the army that tried to attack you.
@@nayhaun6300 actually the use of 2000 seemed like a very foundation thing to do to me. Why put any "real" humans or even D class into harms way when you have a machine that can just make people from scratch. It's the practical solution to a horrid problem but honestly at that point the foundation should have figured out they were being tricked as so ally of humanity would want or need human sacrifices. I get that this version of the foundation is basically brand new and as such very naive but like a child could put 2 and 2 together ya know.

My only problem with this is that there really weren't any "humans" in the modern sense of the word 300,000 years ago: around that time Homo Heidlbergensis was /just/ beginning to split into Homo Neanderthalensis and Homo Sapiens. Probably just semantics but worth noting since there's no evidence that the ability for abstraction or cohesion of large social groups goes back that far and it's debated how much linguistic ability Heidlebergensis would even have...

So in this continuity (story,etc), the 05 council is (was?) composed, or has (had?) in it, of some pretty heavy hitting magic users? I guess, getting on the SCP-foundation's bad side to the point the council decides to leave their comfy shadowy "this place kinda always sounds like a super villains lair" secret HQ building(s) to join in on a raid really is the definition of "You done goofed up, pal." Cause compared to that, and knowing how brutal the 05 council can be in its decision-making (which reflects the individuals composing it pretty well, as in how they got no issues in dispensing gruesome fates out), the heavily armed foundation task forces with no moral dilemmas or issue in following an 05 council directive order to terminate someone on sight are I suppose a far more merciful way to go than if the 05 council (plus Administrator) decide to come a calling and knock down your doorstep.
As newer SCP canon has revealed that magic (thaumaturgy) is a real, quantifiable, studiable force akin to a rule of nature, it's made less and less sense that their forces don't make use of it, so I'm glad to see it show up here.
@@danieljames1868 I suppose them not using it depends a bit on how much the SCP-foundation is attempting to stick to normality. In some stories, they really attempt to not use anything anomalous to the best of their ability, because it's going up against their mission statement, and makes them anomalous (though they kinda are to begin with.) In others, they put themselves firmly on the other side of the veil, and heavily utilize anomalies or anomalous aspects (such as magic) in their mission to secure, contain, and to protect.
Even in this second sort of scenario, there is a difference in the degree of how much anomalous antics they get up to: Do they merely have a research department that looks into such things? Or full on warlocks, wizards, and extremely powerful magic users walking around the place to blast up threats from the unknown?
One of the O5 council seems to always be a powerful magic expert regardless, but it's interesting to wonder how much the other members have taken to learning the craft too. The council themselves are also heavily anomalous in pretty much every tale and version, and seem to barely count as mere mortal humans that have any business enforcing normality most of the time...more like extremely powerful, morally bankrupt demigods with a singular goal in running the foundation while chasing after their own agendas. So in a sense, depending on your point of view, they either made a massive sacrifice by giving up normality and the chance to ever live in what they hope to accomplish...or are the biggest hypocrites you will ever find.
The degree to which thaumaturgy is a breach of the local perception of "reality" is debateable; it's not like they've hesitated to consider things like color or specific numbers as SCPs, but there's no entry for thaumaturgy, keter-class though it would be.
EDIT: That said, there are no versions of the foundation not fit perfectly by the word "hypocrite"...

It's always sort of bothered me that, when they were introduced in the original 001 and SCP-4000, the Fae weren't allowed to be called "The Fae" because that's their name, and names hold power for them. But nowadays, they're just called the Fae regardless.
