In just a few years, Harbor Freight went from the garbage store to the most awesome place in town.
They do need to label their tools either as “this is a pretty decent tool” or “this is complete shit”.
If they actually worked on keeping the store clean and updated it would make a big difference in my opinion. Most of them arent well taken care of and I think that hurts them in the end.
For chinesium, sure. If I go to harbor freight it's because I need something right then and there and I don't care if it lasts more than once as long as it gets the immediate job done.
@@puterg0d for some tools, and jobs and customers that is a real value, much better than renting tools to complete a job you think will be done within 3 months. And some tools are actually diamonds in the rough there too that will serve a lifetime.

@KoonTrucking I paid in 2015, ⅓ of that total price on a Matco 4S two bay box in same color! Wow do I feel like a schmuck.
That's why I've always bought good used tool boxes...
Those Icon toolboxes are legit too. Just check the weight. They are using a lot of steel, and for any simple box shaped object that uses a lot of steel, that can only mean one thing. It's solid construction with thick steel sheet and a solid frame.
@RedShiftedDollar I will check the steel they are constructed from, wish I hadn't bought a Matco 4S back in 2015! For WAYYY more money 💰
They need to sell individual icon replacement sockets and wrenches etc to really be a player.
This is a *massive* issue, you’re absolutely right.
Huge issue. Thats why I dont purchase Icon socket or wrench.
They do and they ship them for free. Just have to call in on their replacement parts catalog. Wish they had it in the store, but they don't yet.
My store I go to they let you exchange either just what ever wrench/ socket you want to warranty or if u want you can warranty the full set
Exchanging a broken socket is fine but if I lose 1 socket I’ll have to buy a complete set to replace one socket as they don’t sell them individually. Not good you can buy individual sockets from almost every other manufacturer matco, snap on, craftsman, and even husky.
That new ball joint press kit with detents for $200 and a lifetime warranty is fire!! Not to mention, a really nice case too!! I will be there buying that the day it drops!!
I seen that kit in a video from last year an I been waiting!!! I can’t wait till it’s on the shelves
Man harborfreight really is killing it lately and its pretty fun to just stroll through and see some stuff you never saw before that you can find a use for.
If that icon “$13k full set up” comes in purple, with black trim, I’ll buy the exact set up NOW!!
Harbor freight has improved on many of their tools BUT I would love to see them improve on the wood turning lathes with at least a one horsepower motor.. I'M WAITING...

Yesterday, I asked when the 5-drawer cart was coming out in purple at my area store and I got the “deer in the headlights” look. The clerk asked one of his associates about it and he said mid February!

I know it might not be for everyone, but it would be cool if Icon had a 30" deep line, not just 25". I'm always watching to see what HF adds in the recent months, especially since we got a new massive store right down the road from work.

Would like to see US General add cabinets in several colors to their line. Tool boxes are great but a shop needs cabinets in addition to a tool storage option. Husky, Gladiator and Craftsman currently are cornering this market
Harbor Freight is killing it with US General. Icon is decent but Hercules is going places.
Especially with the 5 drawer US General cart with its flip top lid. It's to the point that RUclips videos of high end shops show at least one of these $230.00 units.

Finally More Icon Stuff I've been waiting for some more Icon lineup for a while
Wish they had tool boxes in pink I'd definitely buy one in a heartbeat, maybe in the future they will do that.
I really wish they had a store in Alaska. Or be willing to ship tools up here. I can understand batteries being an issue, but everything else would be badass.
Ditto for Hawaii -- no stores. I have placed orders, but for small things. Haven't asked about big-volume items, though.
I NEED TO KNOW! When are we getting the slate gray tool cart accessories. Power strip, glove box holder, paper towel holder, etc
I've been waiting four years now for HF to release that tool cart with a stainless lid and one that opens in two halves out to the sides rather than straight upwards. That would be an easy snap-on killer.
Slide top roll cart is what that’s called and yes they need to do it. That’s a much better design

I would like to see HF expand their line of woodworking machinery, not just hand tools etc. They could compete against Grizzly whom imports their machinery as well.
Harbor freight been killing it !! Just gotta know what to get and what not to get there! Their Daytona jacks are top notch . All the icon tools are pretty stout , Doyle or icon pliers are great ! They are like old sears in my book just not USA made lol
They need to get with chanellock and have the icon pliers be rebranded channellock, all the trucks already do it so why not
"What NOT to get there." This is what I like about Harbor Freight - You gamble your money on tools and sometimes you get lucky, but usually the house wins.

... most electrical tools. hand tools are not bad especially if you only use it once like the tierod kit I picked up...still saved money over garage service...
Before Sears went under they were importing their tools too. Their tools became the same quality as the old harbor Freight about 20 years ago.

I am very impressed with the Hercules line. Having said that, I have everything that Bauer makes, corded and cordless. I have over 20 Bauer batteries and two Bauer double-chargers. I can't imagine the expense of trying to upgrade to the Hercules line bit by bit unless I could use my Bauer batteries with the Hercules tools. Harbor Freight needs to make converters to use the Hercules line of batteries on the Bauer tools, and vice-versa. I love the new 8-amp Bauer batteries and have 6 of them. I am sure they would perform very well with the Hercules tools if the right converter was made. So, for now, I can only admire the Hercules line from a distance and wish that there were a way I could afford to slowly make the change-over.
Looks like they had new green gloves in all the glove holders on the carts. Maybe they’ll be the nice textured ones, can’t really tell in the video.
I love to see the new tools and accessories. I have been a field service engineer for over 30 yrs, and most of my tools are Harbor Freight. The only "continuous" complaint I have, is that I have always wanted more shelves for my locker box. I have tried for years to get one, and they have never offered them for sale. I even went so far as to order them as replacement parts. That didn't work either. Each time I tried, I waited for a few months to get them, and eventually the orders were cancelled, and they always said they were out of stock. Other than that, they are pretty decent tools.

I bought the large icon box and side cabinets as well as the hut hutch, wish the second and third drawers were a little taller and they could definitely stand to make the depth wider as well. Otherwise, well worth the purchase.

I really hope HF makes a 2 or 3 drawer box for their Bauer pack out system like Milwaukee has. I can’t justify spending the money for a Milwaukee system just for those drawers.
no kidding, i have the bauer packout and that is one of my wants, although i do love the crate pack as that was something i didnt really see the other brands have at the time i got it

They are coming out with two professional level scan tools under their Icon brand - it would be cool if you could check those out and give us an up-close look and walk through of them.
Harbor Freight must be telling folks they can’t show those. This is like the third or fourth video I have seen that did a review of their booth at SEMA and did not show the new ICON scan tools. That was the best new tool in my opinion.
@@a-a-ronb7259 I finally ran across one video last night showing them. They seem to be rebranded Launch scanners for about the same cost.
I've been shopping at Harbor Freight for 25 years. Most of my ratchets, sockets and such are from there. Built my Dana 44 axles for my jeep with their dial indicator, calipers, presses, etc. over 20 years ago. Like other comments have said, just have to know what to buy, and what not to buy.

I’ve been buying tools from harbor freight starting back in the 80’s in Fresno. There’s 3 stores here now but a mega store would be a super place to shop you don’t have enough room to put all the stuff you sell now. Great stores Mr. Schmets keep the tools coming

I really wish that harbor freight would have a option to put deeper drawers on the 72 inch icon chest! I bought one and the shallow drawers are not deep enough…. So I sold it. Thank you clay for the sema videos I didn’t get to see because my wife had to work…..

Me too!! Everything else is nice but the icon digital torque wrenches are the real elephant in the room!
@@darwindropmazda yep, love my 1/2” Icon digital torque wrench, and it doesn’t excite me to pay Snap On prices for the other two sizes, but Snap On, Williams, and Cornwell are the only names out there with a nice, flex head digital 1/4” torque wrench

When will Bauer come out with a 3/8" cordless ratchet?
i recently got the hercules reciprocation saw battery operated and i had to take down a huge shed and that saw tore through that shed like no bodys business, i highly recommend it
Out of fun I asked a clerk at my local HF if I could trade in my older 1190 ft-lb Earthquake XT air impact on a newer 1200 ft-lb Earthquake XT air impact. Mine still works great even though it’s way beyond the warranty. My great idea dropped faster than a lead ballon.😂
I love that they brought a hutch for the 56" USG box. I've been really happy with my Full Bank, but getting a little crowded.
I wish the case for the Icon 1/2" Split Beam Torque Wrench wasn't too wide for the Full Bank. There's plenty of room to make it small enough...

I do have the Hercules 1/4 and 3/8 long reach cordless ratchets,been good to me.Had to replace the 3/8 once so far under warranty which was hassle free,work and quit on me
I wish our did. I had to get a replacement from Amazon that actually works. I do love Harbor Freight and also just ordered a US General Series 3 56" cabinet with side locker. Can't wait for it to arrive... in a month. Lol
