    High Tea VS Afternoon Tea goes down to the purpose of the tea gathering. Did you know there was a difference?

      Tina Leder yes but darling: Anna was the Duchess of Bedford, it’s SCONES (pronounced SKON) not biscuits .. but overall great info!

    High tea is considered supper today, so basically dinner. Just with tea and typical tea treats served along with it. So many dont realize it but many formal traditional dinner restraunts will ask you if you want tea (or in some cases, coffee) along with your meal.

    Thank you for addressing the difference between high tea and afternoon tea. Back in the day "High Tea" offered more savory and heavier foods + delicious hot tea for the really hungry working class Britishers!

    Do you keep your gloves on for tea? I've heard you're supposed to take them off while seated at the table, though personally I like the idea of leaving my white gloves on for tea.

    • @TinaLeder
      @TinaLeder  3 года назад +4

      You're absolutely correct!
      Technically speaking, gloves should be removed once you sit to dine (unless they are formal gloves with wrist buttons). I just figured I'd leave it on for this video, but looking back, that might be confusing to people.

      @@TinaLeder No I'm glad you did. The visual is stunning for one thing. I know it might go against social rules, but personally, I like the idea of keeping my gloves on for tea (and no it's not because I'm a germaphobe!)

    The thing is, after a really good afternoon tea, I don't see how anyone could eat another thing for the rest of the day!! You have all the things on the tiered tea trays, and THEN they bring you CAKE on top of all that! And most places seconds (or thirds) of anything you'd like. Go hungry, and do not plan an early dinner (or a dinner at all).

    Gong Fu brew the tea loose leaf and you won't need the cream and sugar. It's not bitter when done right.

      You ladies are making up strange rules that do not exist regarding class.
      First (like it matters😂) the edit shows the Duchess with the Afternoon Tea Clip so she’s correct ..Not the High Tea clip as you have stated (high tea that Queen Victoria invented)
