The song tells us about the history, not the politics. This song might relate to all those nations (e.g. Ukrainians, Georgians, Hungarians, etc) that suffer or used to suffer from the distorted nationalistic mind of one country!
I’m American and I absolutely love this song... it’s painfully beautiful. It’s a reminder that language might be a barrier but suffering is an experience every human being has experience in some way or another.. some more extreme than others.. but it’s also a reminder that music is a language we can understand, a force we feel in our souls and connects every one of us together.. that is undeniable. At times like this, with all of the injustice and suffering immigrants are subjected to here in America, this song affected me deeply. I cannot even begin to imagine what your people have gone through but I thank you for telling your story with this song 💕 Much love from America!
👍❤️☮️🌏 THE BEST.....I love this song so so so much.....A LAMENT OF SOUL BALLAD ...it sounds very daunting and so eerie, as it should be. JAMALA’s amazing vocal ability deliver it from her soul...A world class vocalist....!!! 🌏👍. I don’t understand & don’t speak Ukranian ( I speak English) but I can certainly feel the energy in her voice and the song...what I understand this is “a very sad song or a LAMENT” about the ethnic cleansing or genocide that happened in MAY 1944 to the indigenous “Crimeans Tatars” by the STALIN of Soviet Union.....love this song & love JAMALA ...🙏👍☮️🌏Ⓜ️🧿 MO’S ART / MO ▶️ MELBOURNE = AUSTRALIA
@Nur Betül Gök "Turk" is a race, "Turkish" is a nationality. They're not the same. For example, Tatars aren't Turkish because the term of "Turkish", is representing people in Turkey. But the term of "Turk/Turkic" represents Turkish, Azerbaijani, Tatar, Kazakh, Kyrgyz... etc.
+Gambino Gambinos So you're just very gullible then, to fall for Stalin-era propaganda that even the Soviets later admitted was BS. The great grandfather of the woman in the video was serving in the Red Army when his family was rounded up into boxcars (and one of his children killed). There never was the "mass defection of 20000 tatars". It was made up, as an excuse to get rid of a population that Stalin considered to be geopolitically inconvenient (due to anticipated strategic conflicts with Turkey over the Black Sea). Vastly more Tatars fought for the Red Army than for the Germans. Despite many Russian partisans throwing them to the wolves when the Nazis overran the Crimean peninsula. Even pretending that this wasn't true, you really think that these were nazi grandmas and nazi infants that they were throwing in the boxcars?
No one here bothered to answer you because this video is about how beautiful the song is and a feeling that everyone who's human can relate to: loss. I will humor you, though: it doesn't matter if Jamala is from Crimea, Sochi, if she's Tatar, Turkish or Russian. Take your hate and your sour tongue elsewhere. I'm 100% sure Jamala will never see your comment, so you're really useless here.
I'm getting sick watching this all of that swing back and forth is making me nauseous. I can't focus in on her singing because of the camera swaying back and forth and her swaying back and forth also
Poor vocal performance! Jamala's voice sounded somewhat a bit constricted. I find that when she moves a lot in her performances she gets out of breath and can't sing properly. I sincerely hope she improves. :)

My favorite winner and song
Jamala 1944 is world Class
Big hug from The Netherlands
Absolutely beautiful song and performance. Love from Ireland
this performance was honestly so much better than the eurovision's. If this version was performed in eurovision, then maybe people won't be so mad.
nah people would have been mad no matter what because of their own biases.
You could tell there was more emotion in Eurovision. Her voice was also a lot bolder
@@jdxjoxi Doesn't she have backup singers here? On ESC she was totally alone
@@hym7844 Late response, but in Eurovision she actually had backing singers as well.
@J Yeah I know, hence why I said ”as well”.
Wow, this was even better than the version in Eurovision....

The Tree growing efect was gone. That was her signature
That performance was before Eurovision. The performance with the tree was in secret.

She Sings in Turkish 😍🎉❤️
Seyma Nur It's Turkic, not Turkish. Realize the difference.
It’s a Crimean Tatar dialect. Jamala is a Crimean Tatar.

What does YASALMADIM means?
Yasgilima toyalmadim, men bu yerde yasalmadim - I couldn't spend my youth there, because you took away my world.
+Gravity Whats means ''''my tatar forefathers were nazis, and than soviets deport them'' ?
+Gambino Gambinos have you got any other fairy tales that your Russian television and education system taught you?
twertas i dont have russian television and i dont know russian. My education system is western.

Hi, Crimala. Welcome to Hell. So I have a VERY uncomfortable question to you. Is Sochi Ukraine? ;)
