Great review! Recently became a Technics az 80 convert.:) The sound quality for the midrange (that's what matters to me) is stunning and very close to the best wired (shure se846), call quality is clear and crisp, ANC is almost as good as Sony xm5 (with 3rd party foam tips). A battery life advertiesed at 6hrs is actually 7 to 7.5 in my daily use. I also have Sony xm5 and with tunning via wavlet app they sound very good. I look at Sony as a daily driver and Technics az80 as a luxury experience. P.s.: If you are to draw comparison with cars it would be like comparing Toyota to Lexus (Sony to Technichs respectively) both will get you there, but with the latter will definitely get you there in style! May be Gemini is better in some respects but after $300 mark spending more makes no sense.
Hello, sound quality, charging comfort etc. is important to me. Which of these 3 models do you recommend? Denon perl pro technics az80 bower wilkins pi8
@@pickyaudio thank you. I just bought them. I EQ’ed them and they sound very similar to my old Bose QC1 earbuds, but there is slightly less bass. The only problem I have with them is fit: I have small ears and can’t fit them in my ears. I tried all eartips and none is working. Bose were pure honey for my ears in terms of fit. What about QC Ultra…they sound much morse than AZ80?
@@viktor1845 too many to mention, I've had over 20 different pairs in the last couple of years, but at a similar price point I much preferred these to the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.

Hey Picky, not sure if the Jlab Epic Lab Edition earbuds are on your radar but the sound from these are phenomenal! Would love to see where you rand these. Thanks.
Id go for the Denon PerL Pro. THey are louder and sound, in my opinion, better with deeper subbass and just as sparkly trebles. The Technics play too quiet.
@@pickyaudio hi, for specific genres such as rock / metal songs. Is this tws suitable for both genres? especially to enjoy the guitar distortion and double pedal. thank you
I thought I heard you comment on this in one of your videos, but I couldn't find it. Another reviewer said that these have a strange smoothing effect with guitar distortion in heavy rock/ metal. Did you run into anything like that? Instrument separation is my favorite quality in headphones (Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pros if you want to hear this in ultimate form), but I couldn't live without metal.

I'm glad you mentioned the EQ presets sounding better than the manual EQ i have that very same thing with the Soundpeats Air 4 Pro. I can't get it to sound as good as the Rock and roll preset. Kinda odd but convenient. Thanks for the review you're awesome. 💯👍🇺🇸

Hi there, your spreadsheet on the technics AZ-80 and Denon Perl Pro is bugged on the advanced section. Multiplying the value (e.g 3) for one category ends up multiplying it on all categories.
Why no one talks about HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3??? You should definitely try them! Right now I have them at home along with the Technics AZ80 and I would dare to say that they are very, very equal in almost all aspects. In terms of sound, I don't know which of the two to seriously opt for and also in phone calls, the Huawei beats the Technics, especially in a very noisy environment. Do a review of the Huawei, you will be surprised and the video will be seen by many people for shure! Great job by the way! Love your reviews! 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I bought the sonys first but while golfing they fell out non stop. I used the ear piece fitting and it called for medium, so that's all I used. Got frustrated and returned and bought AZ80. Their fit put me in XL and they stay in ear great. But I really preferred sony sound, Maybe because of the outstanding noise cancelation. Should I go back to sony and use lg ear tips? Can anyone relate?
Hello my friend! I had already asked you a similar question in another video, related to the bass sound of the jabra elite 75t. And you told me that something similar were the Sennheiser or the Oneplus. Could these headphones stand up to the bass of the jabra with the bass option or super bass option EQ settings you said in the video?
I bought Jabra elite 10 but this volume is lower than 75t you think is it possible ? The Jabra elite 10 looks high volume in this list even better than airpods pro 2 .
It’s interesting to me that Sound Quality is always the final category in all earbud testing reviews. When to me Sound Quality and Battery Life is the main objective.
What other tws headphones have a voice detection function for conversation, and automatically mutes the sound and turns on the transparency mode, like Sony, Google, Samsung have under different names.????
hi there a question...i have still the soundcore liberty 3 pro.love them...what should i get if they breakdown?i like the sound specially through the ldac...
Great review, thanks. If I was sat in an office, do the AZ80 buds leak sound? (to annoy everyone else). I heard that the Momentum 4 buds do, hoping that these are better. Thanks.
Hey man, this was an incredible review. I pulled the trigger and just recieved a pair. I was hoping you would know if there was a homescreen widget available for mobile devices (specifically android), so I can see dashboard details of battery life on everything without having to open the technics app etc. Any knowledge of this as a possibility, even third party apps - I don't care. I just hate having apps open as that burns the battery.
Guys I need some help, I have the BOSE earbuds but looking to upgrade, I'm looking at the Harmon AKG NS Hybrid but saw the New technics Premium booth looking good but the Bluetooth on the AKG is 5.3 and 10. on the Technics.. Hows the sound on the Technics?
So I recently got OnePlus buds 3 from buying new OnePlus..I like the but thought I try status 3 so far like the buds more...was thinking of trying other brands maybe texhnics seinheiser Sony..this videos informative
Bought a pair to try out. I've found a fatal flaw if mic quality is important to you. When paired with an iPhone, there is a static hiss that the person who you're calling can hear when you talk. I also heard this static when I made a recording into my Voice Memo app. I haven't heard this static in your mic quality tests, nor that of others, but I'm guessing those tests aren't recorded via iPhone. I might reach out to Technics support to try to troubleshoot, but I've read online of some other people experiencing this issue as well.
Please do a video on lypertech pureplay Z3 and oppo enco air 3 pro. They cost less than100 dollars but sound almost as good as earbuds worth 200-300 dollars.
The AZ80 is literally a first of its kind from technics. The first az60 and az40 were from 2021, so that's why there are MK2 now for those that released alongside the az80. So there likely won't be any new buds till 2025
Why wait for a MK2. They do everything extremely well now. The only way I can fault them is the app should have more options for sound manipulation, and long hold for volume.
@@siy01 a little smaller would be nice. Better water 💦 rating, Bluetooth 5.4 And improve on the great sound I’ll take better mic quality as well. Always room to improve. A 7 or 9 band EQ instead of 5 For better frequency adjustments.
@@-musiclee- Agree. More control over touch functions, and greater EQ would be very welcome, both could be done with a simple app update though. I've not tried apple Air buds, but I don't think the transparency is there yet on these, or any other earbud I've tried, and especially not for cycling where these will just cut out with that feature enabled.
I just bought these to replace my broken momentum 3's (yeah, i'm pissed off...) and i have to say i'm a bit disappointed. They sound great and sweet, they have amazing instrument separation but they lack extension in the sub bass and the highs, they don't get very loud too so they feel much less powerful than the Sennheisers. ANC is also not as powerful, it's just enough to attenuate the low frequencys of the subway but i still can hear conversations and high pitch noises. What i love about them is the transparency mode and the fact that they don't have any white noise or hissing, that's much better than the M3's and the connection seems to be much more stable. They fit great in my ears too. I hope Sennheiser fixes all their problems this year with the M4's because i already miss my old buds... (Sorry for my english)
Interesting as the sub bass can go pretty hard. I understand the volume though the Mom 3's are louder. Have you tried all the eartips maybe a larger size?
@@pickyaudio Yes i have the XL eartips, that's the best fit for me. Well, maybe my ears have been too spoiled by the bass of the Sennheisers haha. I don't get that "Oomph" punchy feeling with the Technics, but at least the sound is pretty and clean, it's not bad at all, i just expected a little more power..
Update ; I guess my ears got used to them lol, they're actually amazing soundwise, and the Bass is very tight and accurate. I think the only minor problem is a slight lack of treble, at least with the Dynamic preset (which is the best) that make it sound a bit more closed than the Sennheisers, it's noticable on genres like metal, jazz or orchestral music, a little more "air" would have been great, but otherwise they are one of the best sounding earbuds i've bought yet, the level of details and richness in the sound is fantastic, without sounding harsh at all (Unlike the Bose QC II...)
am looking for a good earbuds for call quality in noisy env and for a good ANC one between technics AZ80 and Bose QC ultra not sure which one should chose as the best premium earbuds ?
Hello, I am looking for a pair of earbuds that offer excellent noise reduction capabilities. My primary use case will be taking calls and listening to music in noisy environments. The OnePlus Buds 3, unfortunately, do not meet my requirements in this regard. Thank you for your assistance.
@@hamatech2049 Why? I haven't personally tested the OnePlus Buds 3 yet, but I did have to test the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 against the Airpod Pro 2. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 have a better sound 🔊 than the Airpod Pro 2, an ANC quality and transparency mode equivalent to at least 85%, better microphones on phone calls in noisy environments... 100% of the testers that I usually follow and with whom I arrive in 99% of cases at the same conclusions after my tests, are unanimous on the fact that the OnePlus Buds 3 have a sound equal to that of the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, a better ANC, and above all better microphones in phone calls in noisy environments with a better battery 🔋 life. All this, for just under $100, so frankly, I'd like to know, what you don't like about OnePlus Buds 3? 🙏🏽
Have these coming in the mail. I had the momentum 3, great sound, bad battery. horrible when used with a scooter, the wind noise was something else. I found the charging dock could have been better. The momentum 3s only lasted 9 months😢 Least I got me moneys back.
These are awesome straight out the box. Definitely feel different in the ears compared to the momentum 3s, don't go in as far. Fiddled a little with the anc and eq settings, how they came out of the box sounds best. Hopefully they last.
Question, how can you rate Sony place 3 in noise cancelling. Sound dampening is like 10 procent between on and off. Not transparent to on. Please test it and adjust your rating :)
THE WINNER agrees 👍 Finally, someone else gets THE WINNER when he says that the noise canceling of the Sony XM5s is nowhere near as great as its hyped up to be and definitely not top 3 Like you said, there's like 10% difference between NC on and off although to give credit where due, it does have great passive noise isolation . THE WINNER's Jabra Elite 10s have the best noise canceling he ever tried, followed surprisingly by the cheaper Sony Linkbuds S then the Sennheiser momentum true wireless 3, Sony, Technics A-Z60M2 (Better value A-Z80s) then the and Jabra Elite 8 actives. If there was a top 10 then the Sony WF-1000XM5 will be no6 THE WINNER says!🙂

I bought the bose open earbuds and as much as I wanted to like them I had to return them so got these instead and they are albeit a different style, they are a massive upgrade and considering the price of each ate similar I'm glad I pruchsed them. Out of curiosity, what size sonic foam do you recommend? I believe the best fit are the sf2? Just not sure what size is the best. Help please?
Couldn't wait for the Oneplus buds 3 review and bought the buds pro 2. Hoping that they rank lower lol.
haha all good either way you go with those buds you're in for a good time
How are they with phone calls? Thanks in advance.
@@bigh8121 They're pretty good. Lacking behind airpods pro 2 in terms of clarity, but friends say my voice is pretty crisp.
Hello, sound quality, charging comfort etc. is important to me. Which of these 3 models do you recommend? Denon perl pro technics az80 bower wilkins pi8
AZ80 has wider soundstage and better separation than MTW3?
Yep
@@pickyaudio thank you. I just bought them. I EQ’ed them and they sound very similar to my old Bose QC1 earbuds, but there is slightly less bass. The only problem I have with them is fit: I have small ears and can’t fit them in my ears. I tried all eartips and none is working. Bose were pure honey for my ears in terms of fit. What about QC Ultra…they sound much morse than AZ80?
You mix earbud and over ear headphones?
Would love to get your view on the OPPO Enco X2. They're the best overall buds I've tried.
what did you have previous?
@@viktor1845 too many to mention, I've had over 20 different pairs in the last couple of years, but at a similar price point I much preferred these to the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.

Amazing videos! Your reviews are so thorough! Do you have a recommendation? I am looking for the best low latency open back headphones/earbuds for gaming. I am a sweaty gamer so my ears get uncomfortable when plugged for over an hour and I have to listen be able to hear my when my kids wake up from their naps.
price doesn't matter - just the best sounding low latency open back
Thanks! The 1more Fit S50 has a low latency game mode. So does the SoundPEATS go free 2. I don’t test headphones though
1MORE S50 are the better sounding pair at least for an open earbud
Hey Picky, not sure if the Jlab Epic Lab Edition earbuds are on your radar but the sound from these are phenomenal! Would love to see where you rand these. Thanks.
Great review thanks mate, I ordered the AZ80'S today, can't wait to try them out
No worries! Enjoy them they’re great 👍
Que tal, los recomiendas? Que tal es su sonido
Just got mine yesterday, not bad but definitley not loud enough which makes them redundant straight out of the box.
I want to use them for running. Yay or nay?
Basshead here👋 I'm buying either the AZ80s or the Perls tonight. Which of those 2 would you recommend for the better basshead experience?
Hi Basshead! I’d go for the AZ80. You get better customisation of the bass.
Id go for the Denon PerL Pro. THey are louder and sound, in my opinion, better with deeper subbass and just as sparkly trebles. The Technics play too quiet.
@@monticam1 Nope, obviously I cant wear Perl for too long time compare with AZ80, AZ80 has more comfortable experience if u need to wear for hours.
Thank you for this awesome review 🫶🏻
I was waiting for it 🎶
Awesome job like always 👍🏻👏🏻
Glad you liked it!!
Sir plz tell me what to buy….oneplus buds3,oneplus buds pro2 or nothing ear 2…i m very confused since i am getting them for almost same price
Buds 3 if you like a more v shaped tuning. Nothing ear 2 if you like more balance

No not new number Ones!. I'ma have go buy them now. Thanks Picky
haha no worries!
Why did you rank the battery life of the Beats Studio buds + so low I own them and they perform really good battery wise
~Hi, will you review Marshall Motif II ANC and compare them to others?
G'day James I just knew this would be your new 'major, Major, MAJOR GO!' just surprised it took you this long. When Flossy Carter gets excited about a product's sound I get excited.
Now you need to try the AZ60mk2 and the super affordable Panasonic RZ-B110w and B310w. I have both and they perform and sound extremely well!
Awesome video as always. Which earbud is the best if I want the best sound and great bass? Sony XM5, Denon PerL Pro, Jabra Elite 10 or Technics AZ80 or is there a different suggestion?
Deff not Sony, the jabra is prob best all around like call anc music, and prob az80 if you want to give up a little call for better music
@@rossauce12 Thank you!
I'm glad you mentioned the EQ presets sounding better than the manual EQ i have that very same thing with the Soundpeats Air 4 Pro. I can't get it to sound as good as the Rock and roll preset. Kinda odd but convenient. Thanks for the review you're awesome. 💯👍🇺🇸
Thanks for watching as always Mike! Yea I was surprised to see this on a premium earbud
@@pickyaudio I'm looking forward to the One+ 3 buds review I'm hoping they're as good or almost as good as the 2 Pros. Because that would mean they have something good in store for the 3 Pros. Hopefully that is. Now that I'm a member you're going to get sick of me. Lol 😆🇺🇸
Can someone tell how these are on phone calls. In a quiet setting and busy setting. Thank you in advance.
Using Jabra Elite 10 now but prefer Technics Az80. Thanks 🙏🏼
Hi there, your spreadsheet on the technics AZ-80 and Denon Perl Pro is bugged on the advanced section. Multiplying the value (e.g 3) for one category ends up multiplying it on all categories.
I’ll fix that! Thanks for letting me know
Why no one talks about HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3??? You should definitely try them! Right now I have them at home along with the Technics AZ80 and I would dare to say that they are very, very equal in almost all aspects. In terms of sound, I don't know which of the two to seriously opt for and also in phone calls, the Huawei beats the Technics, especially in a very noisy environment. Do a review of the Huawei, you will be surprised and the video will be seen by many people for shure! Great job by the way! Love your reviews! 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How do the technics Eah az60m2 compare?
I wonder how the AZ80s compare to some of the new Aviot wireless earbuds.
Have you tried the Dynamic EQ on the AZ80? They sound amazing for my taste with it on. The ANC is not on the level of the XM5 but is still decent
Whaybisbthe model number of the sonic foam earbuds
I bought Jabra elite 10 but this volume is lower than 75t you think is it possible ? The Jabra elite 10 looks high volume in this list even better than airpods pro 2 .
It’s interesting to me that Sound Quality is always the final category in all earbud testing reviews. When to me Sound Quality and Battery Life is the main objective.
Can these connect to sony wm1a dap?
You are the best sound reviewer I’ve heard !!!
Hey did u tried using multipoint by playing on other devices without pausing the current one I heard this was one of the earbuds that can do that.
Yeah they work without needing to pause on mine
Completely forgot to check that! It does thanks for the heads up
Np, keep up the good work! 👍
Why don't you review the free buds pro from huawei?
What other tws headphones have a voice detection function for conversation, and automatically mutes the sound and turns on the transparency mode, like Sony, Google, Samsung have under different names.????
hi there a question...i have still the soundcore liberty 3 pro.love them...what should i get if they breakdown?i like the sound specially through the ldac...
Liberty 4 Pro would be a decent upgrade
Great review, thanks. If I was sat in an office, do the AZ80 buds leak sound? (to annoy everyone else). I heard that the Momentum 4 buds do, hoping that these are better. Thanks.
That really depends how loud your listening at, below 60% volume on any earbud you’re fine. I don’t compare this directly though
@@pickyaudio Thanks for the reply :)
Nice! There is no Home Screen widget I know of. I’m sure Android might have a third party app you could use but I’m not too sure
@@pickyaudio yeah. I'm not sure. Anyone aware of a third party app that can display battery life on these?

@@pickyaudio makes sense and appreciate you responding to my comment. 🙂
You need to get into headphones review mate . Sick work ya doing lad
Cheers mate!
Definitely try to troubleshoot, all of my recordings are done on an iPhone 15 pro
@@pickyaudio thanks for that info! You just tipped my thoights about it amd I will reach out to support.
If you plan to update this video, please include Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4.
I have. All of my reviews are updates to the ranking 👍
Please do a video on lypertech pureplay Z3 and oppo enco air 3 pro. They cost less than100 dollars but sound almost as good as earbuds worth 200-300 dollars.
Perhaps we should wait for the AZ80 mk2, as these have been out since May 2023, and the other models from Technics already have mk2 versions. ???
I think the only minor problem is a slight lack of treble, at least with the Dynamic preset (which is the best) that make it sound a bit more closed than the Sennheisers, it's noticable on genres like metal, jazz or orchestral music, a little more "air" would have been great, but otherwise they are one of the best sounding earbuds i've bought yet, the level of details and richness in the sound is fantastic, without sounding harsh at all (Unlike the Bose QC II...)
is it still #1 in august 2024?
Great channel and series
am looking for a good earbuds for call quality in noisy env and for a good ANC one between technics AZ80 and Bose QC ultra not sure which one should chose as the best premium earbuds ?
If you want good call quality, Boses are automatically excluded.
Look at the OnePlus Buds 3, Soundcore Liberty 4 / 4NC or Technics.
Hello,
I am looking for a pair of earbuds that offer excellent noise reduction capabilities.
The momentum 3s only lasted 9 months😢
Least I got me moneys back.
These are awesome straight out the box.
Definitely feel different in the ears compared to the momentum 3s, don't go in as far. Fiddled a little with the anc and eq settings, how they came out of the box sounds best.
Hopefully they last.

@@viktor1845 and no difference?
@@brucelin5842 for me small, problem only battery
To my surprise soundcore liberty is the lowest in the sound quality list. Many review still list it one of the best...?
If you’re not including Status Between 3ANC in your comparative review, are you really doing a comparative review?
Question, how can you rate Sony place 3 in noise cancelling. Sound dampening is like 10 procent between on and off. Not transparent to on. Please test it and adjust your rating :)
THE WINNER agrees 👍
Finally, someone else gets THE WINNER when he says that the noise canceling of the Sony XM5s is nowhere near as great as its hyped up to be and definitely not top 3
Like you said, there's like 10% difference between NC on and off although to give credit where due, it does have great passive noise isolation .
If there was a top 10 then the Sony WF-1000XM5 will be no6 THE WINNER says!🙂
bought them for 175€ on ebay today. looking forward ....
try the SE215 True Wireless Earphones, they will crush all of these in sound quality and these are considered the budget model in the Shure range.
