Haha I still watch Batman Forever, that's just pure nostalgia. Wackyness...some nice stunts here & there...and Kilmer does a good job as Bruce Wayne but that's my opinion.

I LOVE Tim Burton's Batman, I worship those two films like some form of religion. By the way, Batman Forever is not so bad: it shows a connection with the previous Burton's movie in style, for example, Val Kilmer gives a clearly Keatonesque performance, so does Tommy Lee Jones who tries to catch the Nicholson's style (failing? Probably, but this is the impression). It is colorful but still has an edge (for instance, the circus scene when the Graysons die, that's pretty hardcore; the flashbacks of Kilmer, the relationship between him and Nicole Kidman as a therapist is fascinating). What sucked in that movie was the poor mix of comedy and edgy-post-burtonesque residual elements: they do not fit together at all. I still don't know if i really liked Jim Carrey as the Riddler or if i hated it because it was "too much": crazy but not interesting crazy; he is just nuts, without the complexity of the Joker, for example. Still Jim Carrey is so fun to watch in this movie (though never scary, and he tried so hard to be at least intimidating). And what about Robin, don't get me started: the worst part of the movie; putting Robin in a Batman movie equals killing it.

this is the real Batman universe, of Tim Burton, better than Nolan's "realistic" universe ...

3:18 "Finally, the way they got to him was to say, 'What if the second movie is really just a Tim Burton movie?'"
Wow. In hindsight, that makes a ton of sense. Batman Returns isn't a Batman movie so much as a Tim Burton movie with Batman in it. As a matter of fact, Batman barely even appears in the first 30 minutes of the movie!

This also shows exactly what you can expect when you let Tim Burton go as dark as he likes.

tbh, Batman (1989) isn't a Batman movie so much as a movie with Batman in it too. The Joker was the main protagonist. Also, Vicky Vale was more a protagonist in Batman (1989) than Batman himself.

@Brandon Brooks He had about 30 mins of screentime. Both as Batman and Bruce Wayne.

I do prefer the first bat suit in the first movie because of the matte finish and the fact that Bruce Wayne/Michael Keaton was less recognisable as well.

You know who's Idea was it to do a justice league movie with that ben afleck from the insurance company as batman stealing all Frank Millers good work. So this afleck piece of work can do more movies with Lopez. How come they didn't do a Keaton version of the Dark Knight? Where is the justice?

Yeah I agree. For me it felt like I was watching a movie about the Penguin and Catwoman. Aside from that, I really liked the goth-animated series-christmas vibe.

No wonder Michael Keaton acted different in this one than the first one.

    • @bluesman6891

In the first one, Tim was under a lot of pressure from producers Jon Peter and Peter Guber. In this one, Tim fired the two and went ahead with a complete creative control, which was why it's different than the first film.

Daniel Haile I meant Michael Keaton actually acted like batman in the first one minus him killing and his interpretation of Bruce Wayne, but in batman returns he just made a bunch of dumb faces in the cowl and had stupid lines like when he was in the batmobile: "Alright now I am a little worried" Not something batman would say. But according to this it's because he was basically playing himself

***** LOL "High fiber": And they say batman forever was the start of the bad one-liners.

    • @JBalmoreS
      @JBalmoreS 9 лет назад +3

Christian Young I think you misunderstand, Michael couldn't play batman the same way again, this is because he was accidentally parodying himself as batman, that's what he means when he says he was impersonating himself, he was second guessing the character.
Which doesn't work since meeting Catwoman was something new, so he had to deliver something new to the character. You're right that the performance is different but this is more because of the script and not so much to do with Michael. If you watch the John Waters interview you'll know Michael was the one who kept deleting lines from the script.

Jim Fitton I'm saying his Batman/Bruce Wayne felt too similar in the second one. While in the first, he at least acted like the two were different characters. Sure they were both kind of one-note but at least I never felt like he was just being Bruce Wayne in the cowl. Unlike (cough) Clooney.
