$90 dollars a night, I would have driven out and found somewhere just as good if not better for half the price. People have got to remember, the consumer has the power, don’t pay and walk away. When they (caravan parks) and others realise people have had enough of being ripped off and it hits their bottom line, their prices will come down. If they don’t bring down prices it will be to their own peril. Free camping is the way to go a lot of the time. Cheers🤔😎👍🍻
Yeah, usually we would, although it was late Friday evening. We agree that the more people avoid these high prices, the more they'll have to drop them eventually 🍻
Wow, $89.00 a night for two adults without power is a bit steep.. Great video guys, we really appreciate you getting out and taking us along on so many weekend trips - can't wait for your big lap adventures. Have a Merry Christmas 🎅
Another great video and so refreshing that you aren’t using your adventures to sell products. When you review equipment, we can be sure it is an honest appraisal and not what a manufacturer wants you to say. Thanks again.
we use a Gazebo from kings when the weather is a bit suss, put up a couple of walls and your stuff wouldnt need packing up. or add a side awning could be added to your trailer, with a couple of side walls. Love the simpliity of your trailer setup. I agree that the park prices are over the top. you can get an overnite van hire for that price. Stay dry guys and keep up the awesome channel
FREECAMP...Stuff the parks that overcharge, that joint looked like it hadn't been updated since the 80's. Once you get into the outback the country hospitality kicks in. The camper looks a treat, nice job Laura n 😂😂
Shocking, don’t understand how they get away with it, wouldn’t surprise me if the Victorian government increased the parks taxes dramatically, the parks are passing the costs onto us. I just hate the minimum night they quote, it’s ridiculous. ( frustrating ) As for your videos I love , you guys are very knowledgeable, keep the great work up.
Yep, you've probably right. this is the reason why we didn't name the park. There can be a lot of factors influencing the price. Sometimes, it's not the caravan parks doing. Thank you for watching and supporting our channel 🙏
That’s insane for one night, I would have thought for that place $45-$50. Great job on the trailer. A gazebo/protection for King Billy will be great. He’s going to love it, no more tent to put up. Was that the rooftop you had on the cruiser?
Great vid camper trailer and wet weather don’t mix but they do have their advantages,Coco is a beautiful dog you must love her to bits, she adores you both I always enjoy your little vids look forward to the next one..Cheers.😊
Nice easy night away, ease Laura into it Troy😅 Dont know much about prices at camping grounds because I don't do it, but I saw an article recently where a couple that own a caravan and camping ground saying that they have to put the prices up because the insurance cost has risen so much. Whether that's correct I don't know. Nice one guys. 👍
Classic 😄. Yep, definitely in Vic prices have risen. Moving forward, we'll be doing a lot more off grid camping 🏕 . thanks for watching and supporting our channel 🙏
OMG, $90.00 a night is just unbelievable. I stayed at Loyalty Beach in Cape York, and it only cost us about 27 bucks a night, and we had power and all the facilities you could need. That's just ridiculous. And one thing I remember that is seasonal.
I invested more $$$ into lithium batteries and solar panels so that I can free camp as Caravan Park prices have become ridiculous. How can they justify $90 pn for a non-powered site.............these types of prices will lead to the death of their own industry.
That’s insane prices. This place was on my ‘to do’ list but after seeing your trip and checking the website and prices in off peak which is still over $90 I’ll give it a miss. I think insurance costs is playing a part but it would make more sense to have reasonable prices so people go. I don’t know many people who will pay that and the permanent sites looked pretty manky. Nothing there worth $90 that you can’t get for free plenty of other places.
Hi guys you have had your 300 series with the Lovells upgrade for a while now . How do yo find the ride when you’re not towing. I’m thinking about the same upgrade. We are only paying $90 a night in January at Narrabeen lakeside caravan park with power and water Cheers Shane
My friend owns a caravan park and is bleeding. All the caravan rates have all increased dramatically because Dictator Dan sent the state broke and Labor are now flogging the parks, (and everyone else), with huge increases to land tax, power costs and other taxes to pay for their incompetence. Victoria is the most heavily taxed State in the Nation. For example, Andrew's carbon targets have TRIPLED their power costs. The caravan parks are making less money than they were in 2019.Anyone that voted Labor is to blame.
Having been 4x4ing and camping for over 30 years I can proudly say I've never paid a caravan park for a campsite. Fair enough if you're using an onsite van, cabin or in need of power for the evening, but when set up for self-sufficient camping, I'm not sure why anyone would choose to pay for something that is otherwise free and widely available. Anyway, I guess everyone has their reason and to each their own.
Cheers, mate, yep, we've been camping our whole life as well, both free camp/bush camping and caravan parks. love them all. And happy to support caravan parks. Sometimes, you won't come across a free camp Friday night after work, especially close to Melbourne.
A lot off camping sites are jacking up prices because alot off people are living in their vans and campers now because off high rental now with Australias situation and their just cashing in 😢 Aussies are good at ripping Aussies off its the Aussie thing make a quick buck 😮🥺
I think that it is a sign of the times. Every business has put it prices up. I don't know if they are trying to recover the money that they lost in Covid. Restaurant prices are up. Take away is up. Even camping in a National Park now costs and admin fee (so that they don't get overcrowding).
Cheers, Klara, yep 45 per night would be a great result. We actually thought in the current climate around 65 per night would be about right. not sure 🤔
Yes we have noticed a lot of caravan parks on the east coast have very expensive sitesin qld, ther is one on the north side of Brisbane on the way to Bribe Island that is over a$100.00 a night, and you don't get your meals supplied 😮😮
Some caravan parks are ridiculously expensive these days we’ve payed $110 a night once with 2 kids… on a side note spotted you guys driving through Clayton on your way home from this trip..
That price was way too rich for my blood. When I pay too much in a caravan park, I then try to free camp to bring the average cost back to something sensible. Merry Christmas.
Camper coming along nicely, pity you can’t put an awning somewhere to get you out of the elements…. Definitely were ripped no way in the world would I pay that price….. hey Laura love your blue rain coat, what’s the brand and where did you get it… Merry Christmas 🎄 and look forward to your lap series
Hi, yep, we did consider an Awning, although it will be a bit low. Laura got the rain jacket from the Salamanca Markets in Tassie 3 years ago, but the brand is rainkoat.com.au. The jacket is the Adult Sailor Lavender coat in XS. Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄 😊
I'm with you on the prices that places are charging. It's not just caravan parks either try booking into a motel or pub for a night and I swear that they will want your first born as payment.... GREED is alive and well all over Australia...
Yeah $90/night is a bloody ripoff for sure. We camp at Bivouac Junction on the Burdekin River fir $20/night unpowered and at Wanderers on the beach at Lucinda fir $35/night unpowered. Bivouac Junction is a beautiful bush camp with wide open spaces, Toilets and Hot Showers a playground and Swiming pool. Dogs and fires are allowed abd encouraged. Wanderers is a corporate campground with all the facilities, dogs allowed but fires are not.
$90 is very steep and without power. Its probably because its closer to Melbourne. My son and I went to Horsham powered site along the river at Riverside Caravan park $42. It has great features and maintained very well. Breezeway Halls Gap powered site $50 per night great amenities. I would not recommend Krystal Castle Caravan park, $68 night powered site. The park is tiny, hardly any room, our site was made even smaller because we were sharing it with a maintenance shed. Our neighbor was sharing his tiny site with a big lump of dirt. No shade completely open to weather. Ground is not level, kids running everywhere past 11pm. The over priced tiny houses offer no privacy at all, everyone can see inside. Black shipping containers not sure how hot they would be. Pictures on website are misleading, some pictures are from the castle and not the caravan park. . The only postive is it includes Krystal Castle admission
@@JourneyUnknown I only just found your channel today. Have you tried the free camping grounds? Victoria looks to have some good ones. My son and I are new to camping.
Oh NO not Huntsmans 😫 🕷 that would freak me out 😳 .. maybe he come from the tree ... love how you setup the bedding for your puppy 🐕 how cool... New subscriber...❤ Hope the weather gets better for you on your next travels... it has hit QLD now ..
Hey guys. Thanks for your beaut video. I'm curious - what breed is Coco. My son son and daughter in law are looking for a dog. And Coco looks like she had a great temperament. Regards , Brian
Good to be out in the bush. There weren't camper trailers when I was out camping. I just had an old tent for storing the gear and slept in the panel van. Great vision by the way. Cheers Michael
Did you book online and knew the price before you arrived or just turned up and learnt the price? If you booked on line your choice if you only learnt the price on arrival a bit of a shock. Dont think it nice to reflect poorly on the permanent structures, maybe all they can afford!
No one's kicking permanent tenants. if they're paying 90 a night, they're doing quite well. We can only give our honest review from our experience Friday evening drop-in with no power or water. give us a spell.
Like everywhere prices have sky-rocketed don't camp there if you don't want to pay, you ended up on my algorithm so first and last one I've watched, quote "Our little home for the night, better than most of the ones here" I lived up past Healesville for a couple of years and we all really did not look forward to the weekends ....... people like you are the reason why Cheers
@JourneyUnknown 😂😂 We thrived during Covid without people like you in your iron cage. People like you don't bring revenue to the area. It's a farming community they take care of their own, they don't need you, bye-bye 👋

they constantly put pressure on councils to shut down free camping-i've free camped for 7 years .
Wow, $89.00 a night for two adults without power is a bit steep..
Great video guys, we really appreciate you getting out and taking us along on so many weekend trips - can't wait for your big lap adventures.

It does look beautiful there but the prices are ridiculous 😮
I love Coco’s crate & by the looks of it so does she 🥰

Price aren't gonna go down unfortunately. The real kicker will be free camping will be disappearing unless your super remote from anything.
Yep, we have to agree. It's only a matter of time before we don't have free camping 😢
That’s insane for one night, I would have thought for that place $45-$50. Great job on the trailer. A gazebo/protection for King Billy will be great. He’s going to love it, no more tent to put up. Was that the rooftop you had on the cruiser?
Hey Katherine, yep, we thought the same. We originally had the roof top on the cruiser, decided to take it off to put fishing gear on the roof.
Feel your pain just booked Bright Victoria for a week. We went to Tumut on the river $41 a night and was stunning.
Now that's more like it 👍
Great vid camper trailer and wet weather don’t mix but they do have their advantages,Coco is a beautiful dog you must love her to bits, she adores you both I always enjoy your little vids look forward to the next one..Cheers.😊

In the Warburton Valley 70 k out of Melbourne……..hence $90

COVID tax still around then.

Hi Kerry, it is a shame because the park itself is in a great location. I'm guessing they wouldn't get much traffic through at those prices.
Hi guys you have had your 300 series with the Lovells upgrade for a while now . How do yo find the ride when you’re not towing. I’m thinking about the same upgrade. We are only paying $90 a night in January at Narrabeen lakeside caravan park with power and water

Hey Shane, we find the ride quality fine. We also have a bit of weight in the rear with fridge and drawer set up, which probably helps 👍

Yeah, I totally understand prices going up, 300% is a bit rich, though!
That is crazy $89 per night. We have frequently stayed at Doon in the past and for memory the most we paid was $45 per night
Cheers, Klara, yep 45 per night would be a great result. We actually thought in the current climate around 65 per night would be about right. not sure 🤔
did you think about using your alternator when you are driving to charge .
Thanks John, yeah we just need to set it up 👍
Yes we have noticed a lot of caravan parks on the east coast have very expensive sitesin qld, ther is one on the north side of Brisbane on the way to Bribe Island that is over a$100.00 a night, and you don't get your meals supplied 😮😮
Wowwe that's out of control. surely more and more people will stop going to these parks 🤔
Deadly work with the camper lad 😁👍🏾 3x3 gazebo be good for a dry spot to sit under
Cheers bud, definitely agree that a gazebo will be a great option 👍 👌
WOW, I was wondering where all the other campers we're, how come its so expensive? and no power.....
Mmmm not too sure 😕 🤔
Some caravan parks are ridiculously expensive these days we’ve payed $110 a night once with 2 kids… on a side note spotted you guys driving through Clayton on your way home from this trip..
Yep, it's getting more expensive, unfortunately. sorry we didn't get to give you a wave
🏕️You have done a great job on the camper trailer Troy .😎👍🍻l love the stabilisers Laura 🌺🙍♀️👍
I can definitely say it was a great team effort 🏕️😎👍🍹🍻
Cheers, mate. Yes, it's been a great build by all. We can't wait for King Billy to get out and utilise the camper trailer 😍

Once up that's it after COVID they have to recoupe what the missed@@JourneyUnknown
We get that. Not by 300%. They won't end up with anyone staying there.
Hexa tarp is a winner. 2 poles and 6 pegs. Very sturdy. Great in the rain.
Cheers, yeah, great idea nice an simple but effective 👍
Yeah $90/night is a bloody ripoff for sure.

Next check upper Yarra dam camping it’s like $17 a night
Thank you, guys. that's awesome to know 🍻
I coff and spluter wen they want charge 52 a nite.
See clearview sell towing mirrors for 300 series now
Hey Phil, yeah, it's getting out of control. We looked into the Clearview mirrors, We can't fit them into our budget atm, unfortunately

I'd be expecting a happy ending for that price :)
🤔.
Just did a trip to Cairns from Adelaide. The most we paid was $40 for 5 nights on a six month holiday😅
Thank you, that's great to know 👍
You would have missed out on many a lovely spot. Each to their own.
Need to put an awning on the trailer
Thanks Tracey, it will be too low. he has an awning on his car
@JourneyUnknown great little trailer though 👌
you 2 are wicked! troy the shit stirrer!! don't forget about the fire pit!! she's a keeper xx
Haha, luckily, Laura has a great sense of humour 😄 😉
Name and shame I reckon.
I was thinking about putting a RTT on my 5x8.
😄 🍻 👍

Hi Brian and Jenny, Coco is a Hungarian Visla they're more human than dog with great temperament 😊
Ok
Haven't heard if them.
Thanks heaps guys.

There are some dear parks in Queensland, but that takes the cake
Yeah, we were wondering if it was just a state thing. Victoria's pretty bad now.
Wowser.😮 no power either!
Crazy right?! 😲
Better to ring and see best price, bet would of been cheaper
True, it was a last-minute trip. We definitely weren't expecting 90 a night 😆
Bang an awning on ya trailer, cover galore.
Cheers Greg 🍻
What caravan park was this. Great video
Thanks for tuning in. We won't name and shame. the park could even be council run, we're not too sure 🤔
