    A hillbilly swapping in a dirty ol 12 valve into an old Ford, and you're gonna fix the cruise control? Mad props, cruise is one of those things some people don't know to appreciate. I couldn't live without...

    Glad to see ol sawed off posting again. What also works for drilling upside down as if you have a spare floor jack. Put the Jack underneath the drill and then you just put a little bit of pressure at a time on the jack 👌

    It would’ve been best to beat in the firewall over number 6 cylinder so the valve cover can be removed easily in the future for valve lash adjustment. Also the corner of the tunnel to gain for room for the down pipe from turbo. I did this to my OBS swap and it does make a difference. Good luck on the swap, you will not be disappointed. 👍🏼

    • @GRANITEMONUMENT
      @GRANITEMONUMENT 9 месяцев назад +1

      Can’t you slap a smaller rear gear in it? Being friends with old peg, I’m sure it would be cheaper than a new set of tires?, unless you need them anyway

    • @ryanhoaglin9907
      @ryanhoaglin9907 9 месяцев назад

      @GRANITEMONUMENT I'm pretty sure it is working. It pushes oil in to the turbo inlet, so I think the motor is just living on borrowed time. I need to do the ccv mod just to keep the oil out of the intercooler.

    The floor shifter's if the screw's are rusted beyond using a screw driver, take a drill and drill the head off from the screw with a bit that is just bigger than the screw head or so close that you can pull up on the plastic and break the head off them.

    Did you figure out the issues? I have a 98 12v truck and i was dealing with this same issue and it all boiled down to fuel pressure. I put an airdog 165gph pump on it and solved the problem. Runs perfect no hesitation or stumbling. These ppumps really need 35+ psi. Mine is turned way up and has bigger sticks turbo gov springs etc so i was recommended to run 45psi fuel pressure.
    Additionally its really easy to wire the factory dodge fuel shut off if ya want id be happy to help!

    If you do enough drilling, Walter makes a low profile magnetic drill for drilling inside I beams and truck frames, i use them sometimes for drilling out broken bolts on excavator undercarriages. They work great. They are only about 8" tall so they work upside down easy.

    Looks good. Just a couple weeks ago I bought my first Ford, a project truck. 1997 F250 4x4 with a 1997 12V Cummins. It isn't done but it looks like I missed out on having some fun with the front end. I have to finish the AC and I may redo the turbo and associated piping. My truck also has 2008 F250 axles with front coil springs - probably not necessary. I'll run taller tires as well even though I think my axles have 3.73 gears. My '03 Dodge has 3.55 gears, 6-speed and 33" tires. It pulls my 18,000# RV trailer no problem. I do wish my Ford had the 6 speed. Anyway, thanks for the video. Minty.

    Just in case you didn't know, (you likely do) you can get a factory Ford tach cluster, and the wiring is already setup from the factory for it. Literally plug and play. You just take your center section out (with the odometer), and swap it over to the new cluster to keep things "legal". There's no need to do the hillbilly aftermarket, screws in the dash big pod tachometer like so many guys do.😂

    Sweet rig! That 12 valve is gonna be fun but in my opinion a DT360 would have been awesome. In my neck of the woods a DT360 is cheaper than a 12 valve so naturally I favor the DT360 plus it's a wet sleeve cylinder design.

      Weight and issues with adapting a transmission seem to be what keeps the DT’s from getting swapped into pickups more often. In a 2wd it’s not too hard, but in a 4wd you’ve got to either be / know a good machinist to build adapters or go to a divorced T-case, build mounts and a shifter linkage for it and run a medium duty trans. IH actually put a few early “D series” inline 6 diesels in 3/4-1ton trucks back in the 60’s….that was called a D301 and was a parent bore version of a smaller sleeved engine as I understand it. They only built a handful and Today those trucks are rare but man are they cool.

Only have 456 dollars into it total since my friend didn’t want to see the truck scrapped and or parted out. I only need a return line kit and head bolts and thermostat and water pump gaskets then it’s onto reassembly. Already bought the head gasket kit and the used heads

    my 887 pump (215hp) 12v set up, it likes around 30psi of fuel pressure up on the highway, and thats with the stock mechanical pump, tweak the OF valve spring on the pump to bump the fuel pressure. i've had good luck with bosch 330hp marine injectors and they played nice with the stock turbo and stock fuel plate full forward, and with a #10 plate 3/4 forward, any more than that and it would blot out the sun and egt would get toasty, its got a turbonetics stage 1 ball bearing turbo and that turns a lot more of the soot into power. i set the timing with a dial indicator kit, mine is happy at 16.5 degrees (2 more than stock) when i got the truck they tried to set it with the pin and it was like 4 degrees retarded and ran like shit, would belch white smoke and backfire like a cannon till it got some heat in the motor, the twin ram banks intake i lucked into for half price actually dropped the egt's/smoke more than a little, so its good for something, i gotta imagine the cheapo versions do the same thing, i split my grid heater, but maybe up in the land of ice and snow you may want two, in loserana split works fine, cold as hell here is 22f
    a fun toy if you can find one is a gearvender overdrive, took my 4:10 70mph speed from 2250 to 1750-1800 with a nv4500, can split gears too for fun or hauling, at 2k for a used kit, its my favorite mod after the odd 50% more power its got

  • @michaelbenoit248
    @michaelbenoit248 9 месяцев назад

    As for the intercooler I would’ve used a 6.7 Powerstroke intercooler that’s an Air/Water design. Get a 2nd smaller radiator to put where the intercooler would go that would cool off the intercooler cooler than the stock dodge one, & u could put dry ice in to get colder.
    Unless ur up north then u might need to use legit coolant, & not just water.
    Water tank-pump-intercooler-radiator
    I’ll be doing that on my IDI because a turbo is a lot of work to do it right. Also another point of failure so I like N/A for that.
    I prefer the simplicity of N/A IDI or just going with a 94-03 7.3. I would’ve done that swap over a 5.9 because of the amount of work to do it.
