  • Picked up a couple of small engine pieces and working on getting them back running for use. The first up is a Cub Cadet FT24 tiller.

On the tiller, the pull rope starter is on wrong. They pull backwards so you are holding onto the handle while pulling. And the engine is hunting because there is dirt in the carb still (idle - clean the hole). And that little post is the depth gauge.

Thanks for the video. I have one almost exactly like it. But it developed a problem awhile back and I've been unable to it. It will start but then only run for a few seconds and die. Then it'll be really hard to start, but when I get it to go again, it'll run for a few seconds and then die. I'm wondering if I might have the fuelk lines improperly installed. There is this line that is a T that runs into the carb and also into the top of the tank. Would you have any idea what might be wrong with this thing OR where I might find a fuel line routing diagram so I can be sure the fuel line is run correctly? Thanks. All the best!

Is their a white capped wire conn3cted to the spark plug wire hanging below the carb? I have a random wire hanging and I'm not sure if it needs to be plugged in or if it's ok?

Looks like it's connected to the coil and the spark plug but I can't find a spot to plug it anywhere...

      What are the wire colors?

It looks like a black wire that's running beside the spark plug into the coil. It has a white plastic cap with a metal wiring cap inside like it could be possible plugged into something or its just the end of a ground wire. The other end of it is grounded to a bolt. I'm having a starting issue and the tiller has been used maybe twice in ten years so its still practically new. I'm going through the carb and giving it a good cleaning but I noticed this wire was hanging from the bottom and it made me think it could've been an issue but I think the carb may just need cleaned... I was just wondering if yours came with the same wire? Thanks for the quick reply
