    I just bought this tiller and it will arrive delivered from Home Depot in a week, so I'm getting ready; nice to see a woman can operate it; I have sandy soil in the AZ desert, and have used a large tiller on it before, so I know I can handle it. Thanks for the review; it helped a lot to get me ready for the day it arrives!

      Thank you, My tiller still works great and you should have no problems handling it. I would put a layer of compost on your sandy soil and till it in.

    Thank you for a great video, Due to unavailability of a good tiller, i was kinda forced into buying one that was used. I got sooooo lucky, for $1,000 i bought a Troy Bilt Horse. I would like to caution those who are thinking about buying a used one, many many many problems could exist, leaking seals at the tine shaft, bad engine, bad belts,,,, etc. The C.C. looks like a really really good deal, the price to quality is nice (I don't own one), and the tines running in reverse while the machine moves forward is a fantastic innovation. If one isn't mechanically inclined, buy a new tiller and take care of it.

      The Troy built is far superior , tines are hardened steel, with a cast iron gear case . My IH bent tines in rock even bent into the case I gave up on it!

    They work fine if you put tines in rev it does the job like it is suppose to always run times in rev first few runs

    It’s the perfect width for going between the rows of your crops in a plot. If your doing the entire plot, I would go with a tractor tiller. I like the small ones like this for going down between the rows after a hard rain packs down the soil.

    I had a different experience with my Cub Cadet RT65 purchased in 2018. First thing I noticed was that a rock the size of a tennis ball would stall the tines. I used the tiller for two seasons and kept it in a shed when not in use. The metal gas tank rusted from the inside and ruined the carb. New tank and new carb cost $199.51 + tax. My recommendation will be to NOT buy a Cub Cadet.

  • @billyw3781
    @billyw3781 Год назад

    Had one for less than 2 weeks! The tines are not hardened steel and will bend upon impact with rocks, bent even into the stamped steel gear case that can be damaged . Going with hardened tines and cast steel gear case. Older Troy Built or OUCH a BCD tiller (all gear drive) Down time reliability is important when you have nature doing the planning!

    I bought one new I had to tear it apart after 5 years the gear bearings went down so if you have won my advice is to put gear oil in it there is a plug behind the belt pulley remove the belt pulley and the plug and put some gear oil in-or it will go down

    Looks like your run reverse tines now will make it dig deeper. I keep us mine yr around to keep grass off. If to stop it leaning on is to till a path down and move over the width of inside between the tires and till another path. Then come back and till the 10 or 12 inches os space and a little kid can run it with one hand. I have one they are strong running. Don’t get the one with HONDA MOTOR good luck 🍀 happy garden 👍

    Your side guards are backward, you should swap sides, the adjuster bolts/holes should be to the rear of the tiller.

    Hello, sir!
    This is Christine, just north of you. Great to review some of my fave vids of yours, and get caught up on more recent ones.
    I don't know if you're still answering questions from your older vids, but thought I'd give it a try. Are you still enjoying and using your Cubby Tiller?
    Thank you, Pete! Please send my best wishes to your lovely wife. ❤

      R Campana Yeah I think they're worth it. Tillers are used only couple times a year and I've had mine for two years now and it's been working great.

    I bought this tiller used, and am having some issues with it staying running while tilling. It bogs down and just dies. Softer soil than what this guy has.

      It sounds like the needle valve in the float bowl might be clogging up not letting enough fuel in the carb. You should take the bowl under the carborator off and remove the float with the needle and blow some pressured air through the hole where the needle goes.

    The ground speed is WAY to fast for breaking new ground. Troy Bilt can't be beat!

  • @prestonberry4172

    the forward setting is fore after you bust the dirt it fluff's up the dirt.

  • @nathanielbrogden9609
    @nathanielbrogden9609 6 лет назад

    I thought it needed a slower forward speed until you said you had the depth setting to shallow. Once you set the depth setting deeper it seems to "do what it's supposed to do". I did read a review that said the same thing about the wheel base being to narrow and it wants to tip over. I'm comparing this to comparable priced Troy Built machines.

    Hey Pete . I think if you going to have a garden every year to fill your freezer, maybe you might consider a tiller to go on your tractor. All do respect we, as in you and me is no spring chickens and as big as your garden Is, you can’t go wrong. Maybe it will save your back.

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading

      I would have liked to get a tiller for the tractor but all my garden areas are fenced and I would not be able to bring my tractor in to till and my new garden has raised beds

    I'm working on getting one of these started and I'm wondering about the fuel switch position. There are 3 switches on mine, throttle, choke then one on bottom with a fuel tank symbol. Should that be all the way on when starting or just partially on? The manual doesn't say. Thanks!

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  4 года назад +1

      The bottom fuel symbol should be on towards the gas symbol when you want to run it. The choke should be on choke when you start it then turn off choke once it starts and the throttle should be on full when starting and when tilling.

      What do you mean "how so" there is plenty of ground that has never been tilled, I guess I missed something. Oh, I got it, all ground comes pre-tilled. Hahahahahahahaahaha

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  7 лет назад

      It means that the garden area that I tilled in the video was never tilled so you can see how the tiller works on hard ground vs tilled soft ground.
