Frostproof is a relatively unknown gem of Florida.Ideal for a retiree wanting a more affordable and simpler way of life who likes fishing!!Great Video!!
@TampaJay how are you doing I live in the small town of Frostproof and I love it here. You should come to visit sometime soon. I wouldn’t mind showing you around town a little more if you’re up to it. Thanks for coming and checking out Frostproof.
You should tell us about that Kobra Tai dojo, I would love to hear its story, cause I got interested and did some research, it looks like they are open and still running, but the video looks like its been abandoned for quite sometime
Thanks, Tampa Jay, for sharing this. I love these sleepy little Florida towns. The old buildings are classic Florida architecture, and I'm glad that some of them are still being used. The old-fashioned railroad tunnel is a hidden gem.
Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. I graduated Frostproof High School 1968. Live my first 12 years about a block west of that castle looking building then north side of Reedy Lake. I could tell you some stories about Ramon Theater and that tunnel. Thanks again.
Hey there. My mother graduated from high school in 1950 from Frostproof. My cousins are Doug and Rudy and Clint Wise. My cousin carolyn waters married ed flood. I caught my first bass in lake ready. Had a lot of good times in Frostproof. I live in Kathleen.
Yeah , Frostproof city is so awesome area to hang out !!! Definitely worth checking this out!!! It's so quiet and incredible spot to get away with the city life for sure!!!
Thanks Jay another great video! Quite a little place you showed us today. It would be great if they could get those old buildings restored because they're beauties!
Really enjoy these videos abandoned places in roadside attractions. There’s a lot of them in Florida from Key West. Now living in Maryland over I miss my home state of Florida
Love mid century architecture and design Our home was built in 1955 and we’re trying to find items from that era to decorate with. Love the 50s-70s. Part of me has always wanted to move to Florida but I’m a winter girl and would miss it. Those vintage booths!! 😍😍 I want some of those for the basement. Great video, Jay!!
As always amazing content Jay have traveled all over my home state here but just some places I haven't made it to.. Frost proof being one of those...so it's really cool to see it through your eyes very much as I would. Love the old buildings and historical places and just the scenic beauty that you so well pointed out and shared..Well done my friend and can't wait until your next adventure as you take us to yet another great place. Appreciate everything you do and share and wish you much success with your channel in the future.😎🇺🇸🐊🍁🦃🍂😇
Thanks! Reminded me why I need to go back. That vintage car dealer was still in business but barely about a decade ago. The owner would let you walk his collection and curate some, but it was filled bumper to bumper, mirror to mirror.
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing that part of Florida. Frostproof and all those orange trees. 🍊 😋 I could almost smell the citrus. Safe travels headed home, my friend.
I see you're back in my Neighborhood! Yeah its a great place to see citrus trees, but soon I think more will be converted to subdivisions which is sad. Remember Polk County is the fastest growing county in Florida by population. That railroad track must be from Lake Wales heading south. Neat! BTW, Frostproof is not a rich town. So their taxes don't always cover what needs to be done. Thanks for spotlighting this area! I hope you come back and do a few Lake tours here.
This is Miss Kathy from Austin TX, I've only been to Orlando once with a patient of mine to Disney world. There is so much more to Florida than Amusement Parks. Really interesting.b
The coffee shop is/was (not sure if it still is) a harvest host and we actually stayed there a night on the way to Bok tower a few years ago. Very lovely town and you could definitely smell the orange.
You need to come back. Our sleepy town isn’t too sleepy during the week. And definitely stop for a cup of coffee at Mr. Chris’ Coffee Depot. It’s such a unique place.
Loved this and love this area! Good deal on showing the Fort marker and old downtown Frostproof. Amazing area and for those who don't know, the Lake Wales ridge were a series of ancient islands when Florida was under water eons ago!
Jay, I so enjoy your Florida road trips. My family came to Florida in 1835 and I remember pre modern Florida (before Disney. ) I grew up in the '50s. Keep going.
thanks great place i have been there for work wish i had time in those days been to so many remote places in fla it is beautiful you bring it back but the great sites i missed
Be careful out there in those parts Jay! Polk County, especially out in the middle of nowhere, can be a bit sketch! Also that tunnel totally reminded me of the tunnel in Spirited Away (at the end).
The monument we saw regarding the Frostproof Police Department included the Officers who died in the line of duty. The Frostproof Police Department was dissolved in 2006 when the Polk County Sheriff's Office contracted with the city of Frostproof for law enforcement duties. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work.
So great to see you doing what you do best. Have been a fan and a follower for several years. Your Abandoned Places And Roadside Attractions are awesome ....keep exploring. Ever explored the old brick road in FL?
Thanks Jay. I'm glad your life has gone so well. I remember before you met Chris The Girl I used to think "Man Jay is Good Guy but you seemed like kind of a loner & I'd hope you'd find happiness. Obviously you did. Maybe I was wrong about you being a loner but either way congrats on being happy. Your content is a blessing in a World gone mad. It helps me Relax. Plus as part of the Orlampa connection (I used to go by Plutosmoon616 you're an important creator to my inner Floridian. Thanks Chris the Muslim Guy in Orlando
I lived in Frostproof for a year, but I had to get out of there. If you like the small town quiet life it's perfect, but there isn't a lot of work in the area so it's best for retirees.
Those clay roads around Frostproof and Lake Wales is my old stomping grounds. So many fond memories. And visitors beware of the Reedy Lake Monster. It's a giant lizard 🦎
I was born and raised in Frostproof. My grandfather's homestead was the land behind that Fr. Clinch sign. There were logs from the old fort sunk in the lake, and I stood on them to fish as a child. You missed Turkey Roost Hill on the south side of Lk. Reedy. If you want to see some 'old Florida' go to the east side of Lk. Reedy and take Lk. Arbuckle Road out to the State Park.
I have relatives in frostproof Doug and rudy and clint wise. Rudy passed away a few years ago. My cousin carolyn waters married ed flood. My mother Graduated frostproof in nineteen fifty.
Ahhh, next time please stop at my business, One-Stop Public Services, Inc. We are in front of Mr Chris Coffee Shop. This is an extraordinary video! You are welcome to come back to our small town! ❤
I'm worried that one day all these large-scale buildings that consist of condos and/or apartments will make its way to even the most remote areas...and the open charm of the lesser populated areas in Florida and beyond will be gone either forever, or until those buildings become decrepit and abandoned themselves. For now though, that is a wonderful view.
Jay, you missed a few key things about Frostproof. The Ben Hill Griffin Orange plant where most of Florida's Orange juice comes from. Same Ben Hill Griffin that has a stadium named after him at the University of Florida. The plant was a main source of income for the town of Frostproof for many years. I'm guessing since you didn't mention it that you visited on a day the plant wasn't cooking the OJ. If you had, you could not have missed that smell that covers the whole town. Also the High School and the middle school are together in this town. The kids go to the same school until they graduate. And don't forget to stop by the old cemetery and pay your respects. My late Father law, Bobby Youngblood and his family lived in Frostproof their whole life. My Father in law worked for Ben Hill Griffin his whole adult life until he retired and now sadly has passed. I lived in Frostproof for a short time with my Husband we were just 18 years old. During the day my Husband attended his senior year of high school and I worked at the pizza shop in town and baby sat my nephew. In the evening he would attend football practice for the Frostproof Bulldogs and at night time he worked for the Crumley Brothers working on the trailer's in the orange groves. The residents of Frostproof are very hard working and friendly people. This is a close nit community. This is the kind of town where every day my Father in law would come home to find his lunch made by my Mother In Law who worked full time as a hair dress in the local salon and later came to own her own salon. And after his lunch there was always time for q quick nap in his favorite chair before he headed back to work and not to return home until after dark. I'll look forward to seeing you visit Frostproof again. Also you might find Avon Park famous for its bombing range and Sebring home of the Sebring races. Just a little further south down HWY 27. (Close to Frostproof)
Thank you for always watching and sticking with me!
Hey Tampa jay I hope you see this one day. I would love to show you around town if u want to someday

Tampa Jay that was a Turkey Vulture LOL. I am from Frostproof and love that area so much.
Sweep the leg!🎉
Yes! Ha
@0:02 Ok, you call this dusty path a road? Looks like a piste in Australia! 😆
Check out Sugar Express train rides fla ! Really cool! Different departure areas ,

One of the more startling views in the state is just north of Frostproof. Driving north on the Scenic Highway just before you get to Lake Moody.

Hey Jay, Frostproof has become a second home. I hope you make it down again in mid/late November. I'll have my canoe on a regular basis on Lake Clinch
I'm just south of Crystal River, Fl..there are native burial mounds there too...
This is my hometown it’s great and quiet and I also went to the high school there
The real estate office in the castle building seems like it could have been a White Castle.
I thought that too lol
Hey Hey Tampa Jay. Try the Antioch Cemetary near Parrish Florida.

Frostproof is right next to my neck of the woods
Koo Place
Years ago we had a drought that crooked lake actually separated from its self.

You missed PJ'S Famous Slaw Burger!!
Had no idea I’ll put that on my list
Hi Jay. Haven't seen you in a while, my fault, missed you. Are you anywhere near Rattlesnake Ridge? One of our
old hunting areas.
Love shroom hunting in central Florida
You walked by one of the best hamburgers you’d ever eat!! P Js slaw burgers are world famous!!
