As a native Floridian with 67 trips so far ...around the Sun .Dude, you are awesome!!! I just love your videos .Bringing back lots of memories of old Florida and its really true deep interior beauty.
Hello Tampa Jay, I am originally from Ohio and moved to Dade City, Florida in 1962. I am engaged to be remarried at 66 years and my fiance' is from Indiana but grew up in LA, CA. We met 2.5 years ago in Vancouver, WA. I told him in lived in the boondocks as he is a country boy at heart. Two weeks ago I told him we got barbecue sandwiches a couple times a year in Lacoochee, FL. This show came up on youtube and we watched it. Holy smokes. There was George & Gladys barbecue place. I was in shock. I haven't been back there since I turned 20 years old. I moved to Tampa and met my first husband there and he was a city guy so I spared my ego of embarrassment. He was from Pittsburgh, PA and not into country girls. LOL. We watched Arnie three nights ago on What Is Eating Gilbert Grape and when you referenced it regarding the water tower, we burst out laughing. Way too many synchronicities happened watching this. Thank you for waking up my dormant past and for allowing me to share it with this wonderful man who accepts me unconditionally. He understands me so much better and thinks that area would have been more fun versus LA in which he did not resonate. Love to you and Chris!
I always really enjoy these explorations. It’s the side of Florida that most of us never get the chance to see. For some reason I always dig seeing Spanish moss, not much of it around here. The General Store was pretty amazing, so much cool stuff in there! Always remember those spare batteries. Nothing worse than a dead camera when you’re far away from the car. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
We live just north of the Green Swamp in Linden/Webster. Love the General Store. We like to get our honey there since it's local. Love your videos, Jay!
Amazing adventure as always... showcasing some of the true treasures of Florida. Wishing you and Chris the girl the Happiest of New Years🥳🎉🎉 and appreciate you sharing your day is the Green Swamp area with us.😎🇺🇸👍😇
Awesome video, my friend! I love the old fashioned General Stores still left around. Thank you for sharing. Safe travels 🙌 God bless Happy New Year to my favorite RUclips couple. ❤
Boy, do I dearly love that old general store. I haven't seen one like that since growing up in the early 70s. And that soda machine in the front of the store brought tears to my eyes. I remember those very well back in early 70s in front of gas stations and old mom & pop stores before Walmart came in the picture. Thank you so much for sharing with us Tampa Jay.
These are the videos i like!! Took a break from most you tube during the long Halloween season. Keep these coming, love backroad attractions. Great job Jay!!
I love it! I have visited this store not too long ago on my way to a hike in the area. The ice cream is delicious! So was one of the sodas I tried ! Such a cool place ! I can’t believe I didn’t notice the fireplace!
This is awesome! I was just talking to my husband about visiting this place soon and finding the abandoned bridge nearby! Next time you should see if you can find it.
I believe Adam was out here back in 2016 not to long after that building was relocated and opened. i remember seeing that historic plauquem and remembering the story. i think he got an RC cola as well. nice visit. that BASS conservation center place was a real sneek peek for next year, not all places are open during the hloidays...oh well much a-head like you said.
Hey J great video. I love that store too. You should have gone up to the restaurant Southren Harmony. Fantastic food and the owner is one of my best friends. ❤
💚🎃🖤Hi, Jay!! USA needs to become more conscientious of preserving our aging structures and historical sights, the way older countries do. We are too much about abandoning or tearing down and rebuilding.
The Boylan sodas and the similar brand Stewart's are some of the best sodas I've had, probably due to the cane sugar, which I think is used in Mexican Coke/Pepsi. They sold it in some of my local pizzerias.
Original Socrum was spelled soak rum. Settlers tied their jugs of rum on a string and put them in the little pond beside the church. Church wasn't built then. When the church got built the spelling changed to Sucrum. Now you know.
I am releasing a very special video tomorrow! Thank you all so much for watching !
Happy new year
Saw grass palmetto, thatch, berries and bugs.

A shame a lot of places have become abandoned like this, they would look really nice if restored.
