    Love old Colman stoves!

      They're the best eh!? Was just talking with Ms. Lady's Dad this weekend about his with the copper tank. Only stove he ever used, and it was his Dads. Definitely going to see if I can't get that spic-and-span over the winter and back into premium shape.

    Corn on the cob, baked beans, coffee.

      😆 Totally! Love fresh corn...🌽 Though if they were doing the baked beans they'd have to have toast - which I suppose you could do on a single burner, but it'd be a juggle for sure. Considering how much was left in the "used" bottle, I'm thinking this stove wasn't put through too many trials.

      Thanks Chris! Our thanksgiving technically falls on the Monday, but when we go North-er we head back before given the additional 5 hours of driving... so we had a feast and a half over the weekend with the fam, and it was super fun and comatose-delicious! 🦃🦃

    Just fil yer boots,eh, kerfuffle! 🤣 That 421 brings back lot of memories! Just loved the smell the kerosene. Still have it to. Dad always bought used stuff. lol Yodeling J-dog!

      That's awesome! Do you still use the stove? When we lived in a tiny cottage, I'd always fry up breakfast outback on the Coleman Christmas morning.. became a weird tradition (initially just didn't want the whole place smelling like bacon and sausage lol🥓🍳🤣). The sounds and the smells of the old Coleman stuff are amazing eh? Whenever I hear the lantern hiss I swear my blood pressure begins to drop. Mix the smell of a campfire in there and I'm on vacation too! 🇨🇦

      @@simplewoodslife HI J! Yes still have the stove also the lantern! Love traditions, even more so spent with family & friends. I really don't see anything thing wrong with smells that linger like bacon or sausage, better than some smells! Lol Love the smell of lantern & stove! Plus campfire! 😁

    I have a two burner picnic stove Brand new. still in the box

      Amazing!! That's super cool - ugh, I'd have a constant dilemma about wanting to use it but also wanting to keep it mint. Guess this is why people who buy collectable toys always get two; one for display and one for perfect condition. 🤣

    The 420 was a USA made, beautiful big 3 burner between the 418 and 426 models. It's got nice rounded corners, cast iron burners, and the main burner is on the right with 2 aux burners on the left with FRONT controls instead of on the sides. Also a great stove. Why Coleman didn't standardize their model numbers between Canada and USA is beyond me. Lot of great innovations came from both sides of the border. Anyone who knows the reason(s) please comment. No guessing or hypothesizing please. As Jack Webb would say, "Just the facts, ma'am."

      Did you just drop an OG Joe Friday on me? 💯👊 LOVED that show, tolerated the movie. Would love to know any rationale on the Canada/USA standardizations as well. It's such a shame the Coleman legacy has been bought and sold so many times there's isn't a proper repository of historical innovation and descriptions available on their websites. I cobble what I can from various forums and reddit threads, but I'd love a central spot that took us through every model, iteration, innovation etc. Imagine that'd be a beast to put together though.

      @@simplewoodslife The US side is pretty complete. There is a list out there of production numbers by model and year back to like 1910. i've been meaning to make a spreadsheet out of it. I'm sure someone has already done it. Too many Coleman freaks out there for it not to be done already. After Toronto closed, who knows where all that data went. Sadly, time is not our friend in this endeavor. My curiosity isn't enough to quit my job to play Joe Friday. See how I brought that back around....haha!

      @@mikemorgan5015 lol! About 20 years ago I worked in a studio down in Corktown in Toronto. Just at the end of the DVP I'd pass the old Coleman factory and see the faded painted logo and lamp mural on the wall. Somewhere, someplace I have a photo of it. Believe it's still there on Queen, but can't see it from the highway now, too many condos and new construction. Don't head into the city much at all anymore, but still think of that factory.

    The rubber on that canister is petrified and will not expand, drop of oil in the hole may get it to slide in farther?
    That U shaped tuber over the burner head is a vaporizer tube, once it heats up it converts the liquid propane fuel into a vapor much like the other long generators do on those box White liquid Fuel Coleman's.
    Why you get a bursting orange flame at first..

    • @simplewoodslife
      @simplewoodslife  2 дня назад

      Gotcha! I figured the orange flame might have been dust or debris in the burner, but that makes sense. Will look into the rubber, see if there's anything I can do to bring it back to some modicum of suppleness. Thanks for the tip!
