    Something I've learned with the holocraphic and chrome spaz stix is that once you've let them dry, buff them lightly with a soft microfiber cloth. It gets rid of much of that smokey effect and lets the chrome appear almost completely reflective and the holographic to be a lot more vibrant.

    Would you say that the green/purple/teal over black is reminiscent of the sheen of a crow/raven feather? I have a project where I want to accomplish that sort of corvid feather look and originally I was thinking of using the holographic paint, but I'm wondering if green/purple/teal might be a better fit. It looks pretty good in this video, but I was wondering what the "human eye" look matched my idea.

    Been using spaz stix paints for rc bodies for years now and love the paints.just did a predator body with a ghost skull(silver pearl#16080)and did main color in the gold/orange/purple/red color change #05600.when I did the color change I also used plastic wrap to give a wrinkle effect before paint dried and backed it with black.turned out awesome which got me thinking about doing my sport bike in a similar fashion.obviously the fairings are plastic as well as the fenders but wondering if I could use the spaz stix paint on the gas tank as well being that the tank is metal.also can anyone tell me if a 2k urethane clear coat would have any negative effects on the spaz stix paint?would really piss me off if I spend hrs,possibly days getting the paint the way I want just to have everything lift,wrinkle or start pealing the second the clear coat goes on.if it won't work then I'd be willing to spend the extra money on say house of colors color change paint for bike project but being that it would be cheaper to do with the spaz stix paint id like to try it out so any info anyone could give me about doing a custom job on a sport bike with the spaz stix paint would be greatly appreciated.

    Kris, have you used lacquer top coat over these? I ask because I called the company about the aerosols ( circle on the back with an E in it = ENAMEL ); I've top coated the aerosol paint with an acrylic lacquer clear - wet on wet; I just looked at the back of my airbrush version of the red to gold and it also has the circle with the E for enamel on the back upper label.

    • @WayoftheBrush
      @WayoftheBrush  4 года назад

      I often use Lacquer and Enamel interchangeably. In this example I'm talking about enamel. If you want similar results use a gloss coat of Spazstix clear. In this video I simply used a acrylic gloss but that is only because this is simply a example of use and not for a finished result.

    • @jimboh5131
      @jimboh5131 4 года назад

      @@WayoftheBrush Thanks.. was just pointing out that if those bottles have a circle on the back with either an AE or E, it is an acrylic enamel of just enamel according to Spaz Stix and not a lacquer as stated, although I did get away with an acrylic lacquer over their aerosol enamel wet-on-wet.

    • @WayoftheBrush
      @WayoftheBrush  5 лет назад

      I don't see why a lacquer based paint would have any negative effects on a gundam model. Having said that I can see some thinners "melting" the surface but that would only be the case on bare plastic. A fully primed model should be fine.

    • @KarfontaAlec
      @KarfontaAlec 4 года назад

      This used to be a thing but now all modern paints actually use synthetic bases that do not react with plastics. I use only lacquer on my gundams, lots of different brands, never had an issue. The biggest thing you will need to worry about is the paint reacting with each other. Just be careful when mixing acrylics and lacquer.

      @@WayoftheBrush thanks, I'll check that out! One other thing that I noticed -- on the label it suggests that you are supposed to improve the colorshift effect by using spaz stix gloss black backer, but the label is written as if that's supposed to go on as a sealer, which doesn't seem to make any sense to me. My background is completely in wargaming rather than scale models, so I may have the terminology wrong but isn't backer basically primer? Wouldn't that just be painting over the color shift rather than acting as a sealer (which I would think would be a clear coat?) I'm sure I must be misinterpreting something...

      PoE Vids following along with how I describe application you will be fine for wargaming miniatures. The backer they refer to is a simple gloss black paint. SpazStix paint is typically marketed to RC car enthusiasts. RC car bodies are typically clear plastic and the paint is often applied on the inside of the clear body. Which is why it would be used as a last step. Make sense?
