We will never know for sure how Angelina, at such a young age, can convey tremendous emotion in her singing. My theory has to do with Angelina's desire to help others, especially poor children. I like to believe she was given the gift of song to bring attention to her humanitarian causes. I can't think of anything more emotional than thinking of children who have nothing and very little chance to improve their situation. I believe Angelina thinks of them while singing and believes if she can sing to the best of her ability, she can help those children.
One take at 13 years old is who Angelina is ! No auto tune just pure voice and a beautiful respectful rendition of Whitney ! She also added her own style to make it her own ! Whitney was 29 when she recorded this with a full studio production and I heard that it took her over 20 tries to get it where she wanted ! Angelina had just turned 13 a couple of months before this performance and with nothing but a backing track did it JUST ONE TAKE!! That's our Barefoot Princess , more talent than any one human should have !! Of course all of Angelina's fans know that she is not human -- She is an ANGEL sent down from Heaven by the Good Lord to entertain us all and help Heal the World !!

True, we got a double dose of Angelina singing this song for us. Not only do we hear, and feel, the soulfulness in her voice every time she sings but, in this unique moment she is singing a tribute to Whitney Houston because she so admires her and wanted to do this very, very much. True, Angelina is a love machine and she wraps herself around the message of love in the song she is singing. What we hear is absolutely genuine. Thank you for mentioning the little subtleties that make this such an incredible performance for a 12/13 yr old. To me it's the softer tones she uses that truly envelop Whitney's emotions in this song. So much soul and a beautiful landing with perfection bringing out the softer tone. You can see in her face that she does struggle to get to the high notes and she gets a little out of breath but after all there are a lot of words in this song and if it was just an audio recording and not being able to see her I would never notice! The bottom line is that she did get the high notes with her belts. Amazing. IMO, Whitney was the greatest vocalist in my lifetime (66 yrs) and Angelina delivered a great tribute to Whitney's legend, RIP. Think about this song as being expressed by a tiny baby for its mother. It will hit you deeper. As children, our emotions are more raw, unfiltered, and overwhelming than at any other time in our lives. The difference with Angelina is that she gave a voice to it at an age when most humans can’t. We forget. We think children don’t feel as deeply as they do. We pass on our pain to them and then we have a hard time remembering how deeply we felt emotions when we were little.

Thank you for another emotional reaction. Always a joy to watch them, it is so evident that she hits you hard each and every time. At this point in her career Angelina did a lot of experimenting and growing her voices, more of her belting voices, her voluminous voices, her frying voices, everything to prepare for the AGT some months later. In my opinion she had some limitations in completing the songs. She was just very good, not extremely legendary good in finishing her songs. That limitation was gone some month later, where she masters the crescendo like no others. But with that said, this was a one or two take live recording just days after she became a teenager, she almost reach the professional produced Whitney Houston version. Compare it to any of WH live versions, in those versions Whitney is wise, she limits her high note belting probably to reduce the risk of balancing on the edge of her voice like Angelina does here. Hello again True, my friend. I'll comment as I watch, so I'll edit as I go..LOL About her age in this one. It was posted in March 2019, suggesting that she was 13 years and 2 months. However, there is a debate, not that is really matters, it's beyond great no matter how you look at it. But many of her fans, me included, think that this one was actually recorded when she was still 12. But, like I said, that's academic. Just wanted to throw it out there :-) LOL! You just restarted it for the 2nd time. Loving it !! That was a CRAZY good reaction ! Your appreciation toward Angelina is one that can not be mistaken, and that is just lovely to watch. You are definitely one of those who TRULY understand what you're witnessing. Tho in some respects I don't really like to drag her age TOO much into the equation, in this one her age is of the essence. You are of course aware that this is one of the most demanding songs to sing ever. Lung capacity wise it is incredibly demanding. And, as we all know, at age late 12 or very early 13, the lungs are FAR from fully developed. Now, at age 16, they probably still arent't, which is crazy scary to thnk about tbh :-) Still Angelina was able to do this, singing to a backtrack in a one or two take recording. No auto-tune, no post processing, no nothing. Just standing there in her room, almost casually delivering this masterpiece. We all have Whitney's original burned into our mind, because it is one of the most iconic songs ever, performed by arguably the greatest female singer of all time. R.I.P. STILL we have to keep in mind that that original is the result of an extreme high budget production where each and every (if any) minor imperfection had been redone and polished off. Not taking anything away from WH :-) Just mentioning it to be able to compare the two performances through the right lens. Also age 12/13 vs age 29. You know, up until this point in time, there had been quite a few people claiming that Angelina could not belt. And tbh, she hadn't really shown anyone that she COULD, so you may understand where the claim stemmed from. In many ways, I think this was Angelina's answer to those claims. I so glad she did this song. This is a song that people use to test a singers ability because it is so hard to sing. There is so much technical things going on that the average listener doesn't understand. They just recognize big voice power and not the things that make that matter, like breath control, the ability to belt out then immediately drop to a softer tone, etc...

In Republic Records they said that she is one of the very few artists (besides Sam Smith and Beyoncé) who can sing a song in one take. E.g. all the sessions with Ivan Mendez in L.A., sure you´ll react to those, they sat down and improvised songs she likes spontaneously, and the results are marvelous.

Angelina goes EXACTLY as high as Whitney here - that is, as high in the original studio recording. In live performances, Whitney usually lowered it a half or even full step. That is perfectly OK, of course, especially if you are on tour and have to perform every other night.

But at 12/13 (there is some debate about recording versus posting), Angelina didn’t quite have the POWER of Whitney (at 29), so she starts to run a little bit out of steam towards the end. It is hardly noticeable, but yes, vocal coaches will pick up on it. (The great Whitney herself sadly, in her later years did not have the power to get through the whole song in one go, so she would lower the key and insert many “artful” breaks. RIP.) More importantly, belting out this kind of huge pop diva song is not what Angelina usually does. Normally, she would strip down the arrangement, slow down the tempo and make the song her own. Here, she mainly changes the phrasing, timing (more jazzy and after the beat) and some other nuances. I saw someone make a great comment about that, saying a lot about Angelina’s versatility: “Why is a jazz singer doing a Whitney song? Because she can!” Have a lovely day!

Thank you for mentioning the little subtleties that make this such an incredible performance for a 12/13 yr old. To me it's the softer tones she uses that truly envelop Whitney's emotions in this song. So much soul and a beautiful landing with perfection bringing out the softer tone. You can see in her face that she does struggle to get to the high notes and she gets a little out of breath but after all there are a lot of words in this song and if it was just an audio recording and not being able to see her I would never notice! The bottom line is that she did get the high notes with her belts. Amazing.
IMO, Whitney was the greatest vocalist in my lifetime (66 yrs) and Angelina delivered a great tribute to Whitney's legend, RIP. Would love to see Angelina cover this again with a band and her own arrangement. Love your reactions True. Take care.

Think about this song as being expressed by a tiny baby for its mother. It will hit you deeper. As children, our emotions are more raw, unfiltered, and overwhelming than at any other time in our lives. The difference with Angelina is that she gave a voice to it at an age when most humans can’t. We forget. We think children don’t feel as deeply as they do. We pass on our pain to them and then we have a hard time remembering how deeply we felt emotions when we were little.

Thank you for another emotional reaction. Always a joy to watch them, it is so evident that she hits you hard each and every time.
At this point in her career Angelina did a lot of experimenting and growing her voices, more of her belting voices, her voluminous voices, her frying voices, everything to prepare for the AGT some months later. In my opinion she had some limitations in completing the songs. She was just very good, not extremely legendary good in finishing her songs. That limitation was gone some month later, where she masters the crescendo like no others.
But with that said, this was a one or two take live recording just days after she became a teenager, she almost reach the professional produced Whitney Houston version. Compare it to any of WH live versions, in those versions Whitney is wise, she limits her high note belting probably to reduce the risk of balancing on the edge of her voice like Angelina does here.

About her age in this one. It was posted in March 2019, suggesting that she was 13 years and 2 months. However, there is a debate, not that is really matters, it's beyond great no matter how you look at it. But many of her fans, me included, think that this one was actually recorded when she was still 12. But, like I said, that's academic. Just wanted to throw it out there :-) LOL! You just restarted it for the 2nd time. Loving it !!
That was a CRAZY good reaction ! Your appreciation toward Angelina is one that can not be mistaken, and that is just lovely to watch. You are definitely one of those who TRULY understand what you're witnessing. Tho in some respects I don't really like to drag her age TOO much into the equation, in this one her age is of the essence. You are of course aware that this is one of the most demanding songs to sing ever. Lung capacity wise it is incredibly demanding. And, as we all know, at age late 12 or very early 13, the lungs are FAR from fully developed. Now, at age 16, they probably still arent't, which is crazy scary to thnk about tbh :-) Still Angelina was able to do this, singing to a backtrack in a one or two take recording. No auto-tune, no post processing, no nothing. Just standing there in her room, almost casually delivering this masterpiece. We all have Whitney's original burned into our mind, because it is one of the most iconic songs ever, performed by arguably the greatest female singer of all time. R.I.P. STILL we have to keep in mind that that original is the result of an extreme high budget production where each and every (if any) minor imperfection had been redone and polished off. Not taking anything away from WH :-) Just mentioning it to be able to compare the two performances through the right lens. Also age 12/13 vs age 29.
You know, up until this point in time, there had been quite a few people claiming that Angelina could not belt. And tbh, she hadn't really shown anyone that she COULD, so you may understand where the claim stemmed from. In many ways, I think this was Angelina's answer to those claims. It's as if she said "HERE! Hold my shoes!!! " LOL Those claims were never heard again :-)

Great reaction, the expressions on your face say it all. Angelina has an ability to express the story of a song, as though it is her story. She goes where ever the music takes her, fearlessly, without reserve. I'm sure that David Foster was a fan of her already, after this - at another level. David has worked with her a number of times, I feel sure that they will work together in the future.

I so glad she did this song. This is a song that people use to test a singers ability because it is so hard to sing. There is so much technical things going on that the average listener doesn't understand. They just recognize big voice power and not the things that make that matter, like breath control, the ability to belt out then immediately drop to a softer tone, etc...
@@truedarkseed Her sense for tempo, rhythm, negative space was put into her cradle, and she immediately knows/feels how a song should be sung, but is very aware of her abilities/limits as well. In Republic Records they said that she is one of the very few artists (besides Sam Smith and Beyoncé) who can sing a song in one take. E.g. all the sessions with Ivan Mendez in L.A., sure you´ll react to those, they sat down and improvised songs she likes spontaneously, and the results are marvelous.

I love your reaction every time you hear Anelina. How you have to get hold of yourself every time, with the most beautiful incredulous look that says, that's not possible, she doesn't sing it herself. Angelina is a jewel that you can't get enough of. No matter what she sings, she always grabs you from the first note and you wish that she wouldn't stop singing, just too good to be true. And it's written all over your face every time.... I love it.

Angelina goes EXACTLY as high as Whitney here - that is, as high in the original studio recording. In live performances, Whitney usually lowered it a half or even full step. That is perfectly OK, of course, especially if you are on tour and have to perform every other night.

@@davidfehlman5150 First, I am not here to quarrel, and a song doesn’t get better or worse depending on the key it is in. So please don’t take offense at what is simply at technical matter. Angelina is singing in exactly the same key as Whitney, as this beautiful mashup will tell: ruclips.net/video/OW-5yqwfT0o/видео.html . But at 12/13 (there is some debate about recording versus posting), Angelina didn’t quite have the POWER of Whitney (at 29), so she starts to run a little bit out of steam towards the end. It is hardly noticeable, but yes, vocal coaches will pick up on it. (The great Whitney herself sadly, in her later years did not have the power to get through the whole song in one go, so she would lower the key and insert many “artful” breaks. RIP.)
More importantly, belting out this kind of huge pop diva song is not what Angelina usually does. Normally, she would strip down the arrangement, slow down the tempo and make the song her own. Here, she mainly changes the phrasing, timing (more jazzy and after the beat) and some other nuances. I saw someone make a great comment about that, saying a lot about Angelina’s versatility: “Why is a jazz singer doing a Whitney song? Because she can!”

You know only little while after this David Foster asked her to sing at a charity event and there is a short clip of AJ and David rehearsing. David wrote, arranged and produced this song for Whitney.
The male equivalent I believe is Gabriel Henrique's cover of this song. Anything sung by Gabriel is top tier unique. I grew up with Whitney. I personally prefer Angelina' s lower register. At age 25- what will she sound like? Just wow!
