    The best demo yet for this pedal. I really appreciate that you play to suit the patch chosen, instead of trying to for a playing style onto the patch chosen. Thanks for taking a songwriter's approach to demoing this pedal.

    It does sound incredible and if you’re a touring musician or pro studio / session guy definitely worth the investment , , but if your a home player or occasional gigger ,I think it’s a little pricey, or you can get a used H9 , …… Ok I really want this !! 😬

    Is the H90 a must have? I’m torn between adding that to my board or going with me MilKman Amp Stereo. H90 would be great effect but Amp Stereo would be a great end of chain. Both around the same price.

    I used to have an H9 and loved it, but traded it out for the specular tempus. Since I live and die by the 70s plate algo now, do you think the new plate algo can compete? I loved all the extra stuff on the H9 and would love go back to it.

      Eventide were producing incredible reverbs over 30 years ago, I mean way ahead of their time so you can only presume this is going to awesome, I’ve owned a h3500 ultra harmoniser, still have a space, h9 max, CXM, ( outstanding and really easy to use ) also just acquired an LVX but still want this h90 even though I don’t need it.

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  Год назад +2

      Yeah I tend to agree here. Eventide has a proven track record from decades of development. I too love the 70s Plate on the GFI, but was using the SP2016 a lot on H90 and really liking it. For me, you get so many more unique and deep ambient verbs in H90, along with the classics, and the classics are good enough that I don't think I'd miss the Specular Tempus. And having *everything* right there at your disposal is a big value add too.

    • @AmbientEndeavors

      Guessing you mean HX Stomp? It's a fair comparison. I think the Eventide algos are a cut above in a lot of areas, and they too have a track record of adding algos to the catalog. HX Stomp is a compelling all-in-one though, especially with the amps.

    How does this compare functionally to the BigSky/Timeline/Mobius setup? Those 3 big boxes from Strymon are more money ($1500), but seem to be easier to use, turn off/on, etc. The H90 seems like a great device, I just can't tell if it's a headache to use once you're in the middle of a song, playing live, etc.

    • @deadtothewxrld
      @deadtothewxrld Год назад

      this is what I'm hoping to find out too. The usability of the Strymons, both in prepping for a set and operating them live, is better than anything else I've used so far. If I can easily make the perfect presets and swap them easily live, the H90 could be a top choice.

    • @marshallrankin168
      @marshallrankin168 7 месяцев назад +1

      So this is about 10 months late, but I’d like to answer anyway. The H90 shines in pre-programming your effects beforehand, building up a catalog of effects that you really like, and then calling them up with a midi controller live. Which, it seems to me like the Strymon setup is typically used the same way by people. I use my H90 with a Quad Cortex at church for worship stuff, and the quad cortex controls the h90 with midi program change stuff. Also, the H90 has its own effects loop, and you can select where the pedal appears in the signal chain. So it just works way differently than the strymon big 3 do. The user interface of the h90 is different, but I’ve really gotten used to it and quite enjoy it. It offers similar sound quality to the strymon stuff, and being able to pair any two effects in the h90, and then throw in a third pedal via the loop if you want it, is really awesome. I’m sure the strymon deck is probably easier to adjust parameters on the fly with all the knobs present all at once, but I don’t feel like you’d typically need to adjust mod-delay-reverb-weird effects on the fly, unless you’re hooking an expression pedal up to it and going for some really specific effect. The h90 can do that stuff. Also, you can switch between preset select mode, and performance mode, which changes what all the face buttons and foot switches do. Performance mode lets you turn on/off individual effects, and you can program face buttons to do just about anything you want. It’s really impressive how much you can do, and I haven’t felt the need to delve into a lot of those options yet. I’ve been incredibly impressed by what the h90 can do compared to the strymon stuff, and it takes up waaaaaay less space. Super long and late answer, but there ya go.

    I have a GFI synethesia and Specular tempus. Do you think it's worth replacing these with the H90?

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  Год назад

      Hey that's a great question. Certainly would save you a little space and cabling. At first blush the main thing you'd miss with the H90 are some of the lo-fi/vinyl modulation sounds in the Synesthesia. I'd give the edge overall to the H90 as, aside from one or two reverb algos in Spec Temp I favor nearly all the Eventide reverb and delay sounds, and it's packed with a bunch of solid traditional modulation and pitch sounds too, as well as having a few drives. I also find the H90 workflow a bit more intuitive.

    If you had to choose: H90 or Microcosm?

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  Год назад +1

      mannn, they're really apple and oranges. Microcosm is sort of an "instant ambient-er" and killer for ear candy / granular / looping. H90 is like having every traditional effect you'd need (and a lot of ambient/experimental too) sounds on hand, but doesn't have quite the depth of granular sounds that Microcosm has. So. It'd be pretty contextual which you would pick over the other.

    $900 is a very large price tag!

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  Год назад

      Yeah it feels steep. I think H9 MAX was in the $750 range? It's a significant upgrade from H9, and well...it feels like we're entering into a new pricing era with gear in some ways (thanks inflation , etc.) You do get a ton of studio quality effects inside, even some drives, a tuner, a looper, and MIDI and app control. If it can replace two other big boxes perhaps the price is warranted, and each player will have to decide for themselves!
