Nice demo. Sweet and to the point with just the right amount of guitar playing and software/hardware demonstration. I bought my H90 5 days ago and this video was the first one over 15 minutes I could actually stick with. I have the H9 and used the bluetooth app a lot. I was initially bummed when discovering the H90 didn't connect via bluetooth, that is until using the H90 Control panel. It's so easy to tweak and save programs with it. I'm no computer software geek and I was able to figure the H90 out with minimal instruction by just diving into it. The hardware is intuitive as well. Holy crap, look at all that I/O. Look at all the routing possibilities. I think this can replace half of my pedal board. So can this pedal only run 2 effects at once? Asking because I already have a Tricera-chorus, it's become one of my favorite pedals and it would be awesome to run it with the H90 for maybe 3 algorithms all at once.
Ha! I sent Eventide a message this summer saying that it's time to evolve the H9 to offer at least two algorithms at once in a new pedal but also to make the algorithms sound better than the H9 does (it sounds thin and small). I specified that Eclipse and H8000 hardware make the algorithms sound way better and that they need to address this in the follow up to the H9, whatever that may be and here is the new machine. I got a cheeky message back with a winky face and then a couple of weeks later, I got two Eventide T-shirts in the mail that fit myself and my wife perfectly and a note to say, "thanks for your suggestion" So Leon, honestly... do the algorithms sound better in the new H90 hardware? Or does it sound like the H9 or Factor pedals? Also, is my Vintage DDL algorithm sounding as good as it does in the Eclipse?! These are the hard questions that only you can answer mate. Enjoy the new machine! P.S. Can you edit this machine without hooking it up to a computer? Or, are many of the parameters and functions not available without connecting it to the H90 software Editor? You're the best Leon!
I never bonded with the Reverbs in the H9 but as soon as I got this and fired up the SP2016 I had that "ohhhh yeah, this is an Eventide!" moment. The pitch stuff really sounds a lot more detailed on this as well. PrismShift is such a great new algorithm IMO. You can get to everything without a computer too which is nice. The UI took me a few days to learn properly but it's fairly straightforward compared to the H9 or their old rack processors. The vintage delays is the TF version as opposed to the Eclipse version but I did send a bunch of messages during beta testing asking for them to add a bunch of Eclipse algo's to this, so hopefully it gets expanded and developed as time goes on. I don't think it'll replace an Eclipse for anyone who loves that unit, like we do, but it's a lot closer than the H9 was IMO.
@@italoop7850 The algorithm that I bugged Eventide (you) to add to the Eclipse on the old Eventide forum back when the Eclipse first came out. On that forum, I went into great length and detail about how the Eclipse's delay algorithms weren't capable of producing the magical sound of older digital delays like the TC2290, Korg SDD-3000, AMS 15-80s, Lexicon PCM42 and others. You then informed me that no new algorithms would be added to the Eclipse and that it was a complete product without any further algorithms. Then, in the next firmware update, the Vintage DDL appeared! And it addressed everything I wrote about. Thank you for that! It's still a great sounding algorithm today. I call it "my" because it was based on my ideas.
It's actually an overwhelming machine, i just wish we could run at least 3 "simpler" algorythms with it... would make it more cost effective. Here in Brazil it's priced similarly to a (new) Helix LT.

Great demo! Would you say the delays are on par with Strymon Dig? I have an H90 on order and I'd love to be able to further reduce board size by dumping the Dig but only if the quality is on par.
Yeah it's just a matter of what sort of character you're after. The vintage delay and bouquet delays can get nice and warm/crusty/old school whereas the mod delay and standard digital delay can be super lush and hifi. I think you'll have a lot of fun with this.
Just when I decided I wasn't going to buy any gear this year in order to save up, this comes out... FML. One can't love greasy 80's tones and not have this on their pedalboard

Is this machine can replace my strymon duofecta pedal?? I need smaller boards since it getting more troublesome for me to bring big pedalboards and a guitar.
Could you share if you used the axefx and which preset you used in Fractal @16:20ish? It would be killer if you shared the presets for the different patches you were demoing. All sounded great to my ears.
Hey Leon. Does this pedal have the ability to let you choose the harmony line that you would normally have with a 2nd guitarist, but you can program it note per note? My example would be the one odd note that is played in the harmony of "The Boys are Back in Town" I am able to do that with the Axe FX. Just wondering if there is a parameter in this that allows you to program your own harmonies
Great video Leon! Have you found anything in the H90 that hits the SPX90 Symphonic Chorus better than before? Wondered since the introduction of both Tricerachorus and now the H90 if there's anything in there that hits that tone better/closer than the original ModFactor Chorus algorithm.
I did a comparison between the H9/mod factor chorus, the SPX90 and a few other units a little while ago. It got close there. There's nothing new chorus wise in here but the overall I/O an converters sound better on this IMO
The FM9 does more than I need for most situations. Advantages of the H90 are the way algorithms are structured and generally give you a different starting point to create tones. Here's a vid with the FM3 - ruclips.net/video/bjJsF_hHcjk/видео.html
@@LeonTodd Awesome man...any other band would have repeated that damn amazing piece of a riff at least a thousand times in that song. But you just teased at the beginning...genius. 👍
That riff is f*ckin legendary, mate. My ears perk up even more whenever you start jamming that one. Must've been satisfying writing that one I imagine. 🤘
$1,200 is too much for me, I only want ability to do multiple parallel delays and mostly reverbs. I already have the Eventide Pitch Factor. I will have to research this more. My old Boss SE-50 has an algorithm that is 5 parallel delays . I would love the combine tape echos and panning delays in parallel
Looks like a good time to buy a used H9 lol but I won't be selling mine anytime soon. $899 Isn't bad for a couple of hundred dollars than a H9 max you get 2. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the computer interface definitely not nearly as cool as the old one.
It's $100 shy of a Fractal FM3 so that's inevitable. People who want an Eventide generally don't want anything else though, so I think the fairer comparison would be against 2 H9's or 2 Strymon pedals in terms of functionality/flexibility.
You're probably splitting hairs when it comes to effects quality between them IMO. They do what they do in different ways, with Fractal giving you blocks and freedom to route them anywhere whereas the Eventide is "curated". Pitch shifting on both units is amazing.
@@LeonTodd thanks man. You're awesome. I was a big, Malmstein, Lynch and DiMartini fan back in the 80's. You're good at what you do and rather likable Cheers mate

My example would be the one odd note that is played in the harmony of "The Boys are Back in Town" I am able to do that with the Axe FX. Just wondering if there is a parameter in this that allows you to program your own harmonies
Hey, did you ever find out the answer to this? I'd love to know !
any recommendation for a quality expression pedal that is known to work well with the H90? TIA
I use the Fractal EV-1 with mine
It is pricey, but good 80's clean! 9 out of 10 on the Schmoe scale.
9 schmoes!
Well Leon, you are the ‘Schmoe’ master 😊
LT were you running the H90 through the AxeFx III? thank you - i pulled the trigger on an H90🥳🥳
How do you like it?
@@LivinginLosAngeles-re5yxits awesome; the combination of a FX3 or FM3 with H90 offers so many possibilities🤘😎
My small brain would only use octave down fr that CKY tone
No headphones out??
Have you explored how insane it can get when you insert a H9 into the mix?
Yes on the deep dive PRISM video!
another question - what stand do you have your H90 sitting on? Still waiting for Sweetwater to contact me... tick tock...
I got it from here - thehomemusician.com/
Sounds so good but damn $1500aud is steep. I know in comparison to having to H9s it's not that crazy but for that price you could get PCM80..
Yeah the Aussie dollar tanking against the USD is pretty bad timing, on top of the supply issues so Aussies can actually have a chance to buy stuff.
Please tell me the title of this tune at 23:42. Thank you.
Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
@@LeonTodd thank you so much Leon.
Great demo as ever Leon, seems like an awesome bit of kit. Can I ask what the riff is that you play at 04.24?
Thanks! That's a Ragdoll song called Heaven Above
@@LeonTodd just listened to it, that's a great tune and a peachy riff, very 'Tremonti' sounding.
@@T0n3zon3 much appreciated!
Does the FM9 make the H90 (great as it is) mostly redundant or would it add enough additional to integrate them (thinking for live mostly).
The FM9 does more than I need for most situations. Advantages of the H90 are the way algorithms are structured and generally give you a different starting point to create tones. Here's a vid with the FM3 - ruclips.net/video/bjJsF_hHcjk/видео.html
Hey Leon...I should have known by myself, but which song is that famous riff you play from 4:24? Thanks. 🤘
This'un ruclips.net/video/mgvl7ai-Vc8/видео.html
@@LeonTodd Awesome man...any other band would have repeated that damn amazing piece of a riff at least a thousand times in that song. But you just teased at the beginning...genius. 👍
@@dennycrane2817 the good old "play the vocal melody before the singer gets to it" trick!
Check out my vid with the BOSS SE70 if you want a great budget delay machine
Looks like a good time to buy a used H9 lol but I won't be selling mine anytime soon. $899 Isn't bad for a couple of hundred dollars than a H9 max you get 2. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the computer interface definitely not nearly as cool as the old one.
yeah i kinda miss the graphics from the old one BUT the new one is way better organised and easier to use IMO
Does it make sense to compare the H90 v Highend MultiEffectsAmpSim units?
It's $100 shy of a Fractal FM3 so that's inevitable. People who want an Eventide generally don't want anything else though, so I think the fairer comparison would be against 2 H9's or 2 Strymon pedals in terms of functionality/flexibility.
Hey Leon, do you think you can duplicate the tone and quality in the axe FX 3? And how do you talk the pitch shifting of the H90 vs axe FX 3?
You're probably splitting hairs when it comes to effects quality between them IMO. They do what they do in different ways, with Fractal giving you blocks and freedom to route them anywhere whereas the Eventide is "curated". Pitch shifting on both units is amazing.
@@LeonTodd thanks man. You're awesome. I was a big, Malmstein, Lynch and DiMartini fan back in the 80's. You're good at what you do and rather likable Cheers mate
When does the plugin come out 😂?
I'd LOVE PrismShift as a standalone plugin, it's so inspiring
Are the inputs and outputs all TRS?
So 4 TRS inputs and 4 TRS outputs?
Spec sheet says they're TS connectors
I have 3 H9s and I think the H90 working with them will be the ultimate rig.
What is the setup you're running on this? It sounds fantastic!
running it in a loop of my Axe-FX III, just using the Axe for stereo amp/cab sims. Some of the clips have the H90 before the amp sim, some after
Are you fronting it with the Axe overdrives or do you have a pedal in front of the Eventide when you put on the dirt?
The face at 3.37 says it all...
I thought i had hard guitar mouth.. until i saw you at it. lol
Yeah it's one of my many talents, along with reverse parallel parking and being too tall for any airline seat
Who makes the Mustang at the start of the video? Holy smokes!?
Artist guitars. It's a lot of guitar for the money!
Hey Leon...can I borrow your H90
Yeah go on, pop in for a cuppa while you're here
Is there an IOS app similar to H9?
There's one in the works, but not at present.
