    Do you have to wear protective gear like you would if you were a radiologic technologist? I am worried about my cancer risk but am applying to multiple programs. This seems like it could be a great fit.

    Hello❤ I’m SO glad I found this video. I’m almost done taking my prereqs and I need to decide on Cardiac Sonography or Radiologic Tech soon 🤔 I have questions😬
    How long have you been a cardiac Sonographer? Do you truly like it? How’s the pay? Have you heard of or dealt with any muscular-skeleton pain/injuries from scanning?
    Thanks in advance🤗

      Hey ! I have been a cardiovascular sonographer for 2 years now . I do enjoy it . I think it’s a good career . The pay is good, I started out at $31 per hour but I had job offers starting way higher like 35+. I make more money now though. When I first started scanning since I wasn’t use to the volume of patients they had me scanning I had a sore hand but I started stretching and working out and I don’t have that pain anymore . However I always try to make sure I have good ergonomics so I don’t hurt myself. I have met techs who have been in the field for 20years and have never had any injuries and I have met others who have had injuries. So it is a possibility that we could have a injury and something we deal with as a sonographers. Overall I’m happy with my career so far and plan to do travel ultrasound in the near future. Thanks so much for watching. I hope this helped ! 🤍

    I loved this video so much. I applied for sonography and my choice college only had the cardiovascular program available and I am so thrilled to learn about the heart 💓💓! I'm just praying that I get into the program, if not rad tech or RN it is, I would be elated either way!🥰🥰

    Is this career really stressful or strenuous? I’m in school for it now but seriously considering dropping and doing something else… the physics is a huge turn off as well as the sitting.. can the scans be done standing? And any tips for the physics? Thank you in advance!

    • @sydneeciara
      @sydneeciara  5 месяцев назад +17

      @@Lov3my5 yes the scans can be done standing. They prefer you not to stand all the time because sitting is apart of practicing good ergonomics. Also are you currently learning ultrasound physics in your class now? It is just teaching you what all the button, knobs and how the machine works . Once you pass the physics test you don’t have to keep a in depth memory of what all was learned other than the general buttons on the machine. I currently don’t feel stressed in this career. I work 2 days a week and they pay me full time for it so i have a lot of time off . If it is just the schooling that is making you turned off… it gets better . If you just don’t like ultrasound then maybe consider your options so you are happy.

      @@sydneeciarahow is it possible to work 2 days and pay full time

    • @sydneeciara
      @sydneeciara  2 месяца назад +1

      @Alysha00665 it’s called Baylor shift. It’s pretty common in hospitals. I work all 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday in exchange I get my Monday - Friday off. They pay me for an extra day to equal 36 hours which is considered full time, so I get full time benefits & there’s opportunity for extra hours during the week if I want. There’s always trouble getting help on the weekends so they create shifts like this.

    Do you think you would work the job long term? I’m in high school and considering sonography or nursing

    • @sydneeciara
      @sydneeciara  4 месяца назад

      @@zahmiyab2809 it depends on your interests . I would shadow each field to get a better idea. I personally feel like nursing is more broad with the different fields you can go into. For me I don’t plan on doing sonography long term I have goals to possibly further my education. I hope that helps !
