I'm not a big EV fan, but the S10 is a special vehicle; 1 of 5 running, one of forty in existence is top-tier rare, and it's running gear just makes it even more special. Any actual car enthusiast can appreciate how cool that little truck is. So glad to see that all it needed was a ton of charging to get everything to wake up. Can't wait for the lithium cell upgrade.

    • @ghomerhust

the crazy part is that electric vehicles were bigger than petrol cars when cars first started out. had EVs not been actively blocked by oil and rubber companies over 100 years ago, can you imagine what kind of EVs we'd have? in terms of development, a modern EV would be the age equivalent of a petrol car from the 1940s. so, put a tesla plaid against ANYTHING petrol burning from the 40s. literally, that's how little development has been able to be done on large scale. when capitalism actually slows progress. it's an odd thing to think about.

Finally stoked to see a piece of automotive history revived with that S10. Such a super cool little truck to have, especially for quick runs to home depot and autozone.

My dad worked at GM and was part of the EV1 project, i had all the new car booklets they provided and key chains etc...of course, i was a kid in the 90s, and all that good stuff is gone. Another great episode of mechanical insanity mixed with unique characters and "Questionable" automotive choices. It is pretty cool that the S-10 did come to life and reached it's "normal state of charge". The engine swap was typical as you always find things that you need to modify while you are doing the swap. Part 2 will hopefully get the swap done. The adventure of driving the Electric S-10 for distance should be interesting. I am still anticipating the Drift Car's next installment and looking forward to it's progress. This channel has lots of exciting content coming. Thanks for keeping it real and interesting.

Glad to hear that the S10 is going. The Ferrari should be fun when it gets done.
Man I could have used a team and shop like that this week. Doing a V8 into a Ranger. Started Saturday. Was hpoing to have the donor stripped out by Monday and starting to strip the Ranger, and everything beck together by next Sunday. Just got the donor stripped out today, can;t work on it tomorrow, and it isn't looking promising for finishing by Sunday.
My questionable choice: The Ranger has a perfectly good running V6 that I just put in two years ago, but I want a V8 Ranger so under the knife it goes.

So, the headers didn't fit, the oil pan didn't fit and all 3 motor mounts didn't fit. I had to re-make all of those parts. The biggest laugh of the swap directions from Hooker was where it said to "remove windshield, stand on the dash and with a sledge hammer, beat the firewall in 5" for trans bell housing clearance".
