Dennis is one of the last true hot rodders and craftsman left, literally designing and building his own parts from scratch. Just awesome! ❤ Alex rocks too 😃
Dennis, that’s one more reason not to get rid of the Willys. The fact that Debbie did that one by herself is SO sentimental. The girls are right, you need to hang on to it.
..................Just discovered your channel........Hope you never HAVE to part with that golden era legend of a car ,,,,The Willys Americar....I seen a complete bone stock unmolested 40-41 Americar [dark green ] at a meet in E-town 2013- or 2014.....Rare bone stock........
It's not boring Alex! Enjoy listening to Dennis talk about his experiences on and off the track! And he builds his own parts!! This going to be a fantastic video series. Hard to wait for the next one to come out!
I love how casually Dennis talks about custom making parts that most people would just give up on. Always way cooler when someone actually makes their own stuff.
That shop has more COOL than the local Dairy Queen! The '41 Willy's was my first drag car crush when i was young. I had a Stone, Woods and Cooke model kit. Amazing, fam! Simply amazing!
Dennis and Alex, im so looking forward to the rebuild of the Willy's. Amazing engineering and detail you accomplished on this Gasser. My son and I run with Southeast Gasser's with a 4spd B/Gas Anglia. 90" wheel base. Quite a handful it goes 5.70 to the eight mile. Love when you both are together in a episode.
Man Dennis is an impressive individual, you guys know i do the same kind of work but it rare to meet someone so well rounded. He has zero fear of trying and failing. Definitely inspiring
I really enjoyed this episode. Dennis's knowledge is amazing. I could listen to him for hours. The Willey,s is one of a kind and even though you feel like you have no use for it or whatever, i wouldn't give it up for nothing. Just think of the memories. Rebuild the Hemi, i know i wouldn't miss a show.
So cool and I happen to have the original 1964 c-10 owned by Jr. Thompson that towed-pushed-and shop truck for Jr.s gasser's and Big John's. One of the most iconic races was Big John against Stone Woods / Cook. Or as Jr. said pebbles pulp and chef. Love it !
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,awesome fabricator is Dennis,,,,,,,True real school hot rodder.......Luv this channel..................................................................
Alex, I love the fact the you have grown up in the car scene I have a daughter in-law and she is a go getter like you keep on doing what you do and tell your dad the Knight family thinks you guys are great. The fact that your mother built that body on that Willys by herself is just amazing. I think she’s an awesome person. God bless you all.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,awesome family history........................Long live the whole family............................................
I LOVE watching these videos! Dennis has got to be one of the most talented innovative designers, builders in the country. And obviously not a bit of it has not been soaked up by Alex! This is one very talented family. Thanks for sharing your stories with the rest of us! Appreciate it!
Back in 1970's we called Folk with Dennis's talent a master machinist, the highest honor in the mechanics world. I worked at my Dad's electro-plating shop in Fullerton, So Cal. We got to know Tommy Ivo, Art Arfrons, and the like, and, like you, were all lot of fun (and knowledgeable) people. I am ecstatic to see that art is not lost. Thanks for being you, Dennis.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Agree.......I have worked 10 years in an Automotive Machine Shop...[1990-2000 ] ,,,The advent of factory crate engines put most shops out of business....As a student of automotive machinery ; I began in 1965 , after reading my first Car Craft magazine.......Today at 73 , my chosen passion still energizes me.....The details in porting cyl. heads and reworking carburetors for Drag Racing is my daily life.....[ the so called simple things ] ........If I were versed in Trigonometry and Calculus ; i could pass the exams and be titled Automotive Engineer... ; That is what I dream to become ; I also have a broad knowledge of metals and metallurgy from study and successful work in the fields of Welding metals and Electrical wiring and fundamentals........To learn and be successful in Drag Racing ; like famous drag Racers ; Bill Jenkins , Warren Johnson , and other great engine builders...............Machine Shop work begins with learning Micrometers and basic math......The highest level with a Bridgeport mill is understanding and plotting the Rotary Indexing table for complex angular production and reproduction of parts and pieces for various machines......That is where Trig and calculus shine from the mind...............Never a dull moment in the endless quest for personal achievements................................................................................ .
During my days in the 60's, it was word of mouth and Hot Rod magazine! We had a few parts places in St Louis, local Western Auto had a young guy there that bought a Falcon to just show, and he'd get us hot rudders parts and stuff chromed. Small towns had there drawbacks. Buddy of mine and I did a lot of off-the-wall stuff. We had a 39 Ford coupe with a 392, with Ford truck trans, had to double clutch, still pulled wheels in 1st & 2nd. GOOD OL DAYS!! 😊❤
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,50's Hemi's,,,,,,,,The first thing I ever scarved from a wrecking yard ; was on a Sunday ; saw a valve cover that said , Chrysler Fire power......The engine was out on the ground...looking back ; I was 15 yrs old and only had my old grandfathers tools from the basement ; Shit , I knew nothing of sizes....a pliers , crescent wrench , pipe wrench and a good hammer with screw drivers fixed my bicycle.......How i got that valve cover off ,,is a mystery of memory.....Anyway all the fun ended when I heard that unique clattering noise from the slant 6 powered patrol car approaching behind me........Lucky for me , I got my prize and fled into freedom........Today , after six decades , I have mostly all the tools and machinery my mind desires....I never stop spending money on new books , and tools.....The learning curve is INFINITE................
I'm a big fan of you guys and I would catch a glimpse of your Willys from time to time and I just thought it was another clone. But I like what you did to it, down to the correct headlight bezels. Fun Fact: The deck lid to that exact 41 Willys of Stone Woods & Cook that's on the trailer in the picture is in my garage.. Its fiberglass and still has the parachute mounting holes in it. I have been selling parts from the team up to the time Mike Cook passed away late last year. I sold the deck lid to a guy on the east coast and was ready to have Mike Cook sign it, but mike suddenly passed away the night before. His son Mikey signed it for his dad. I grew up loving that team, we were into AA/FA and Jr Fuel, so we never pitted close to them. I still have the models of all 3 cars. They are the inspiration to my gasser build. Hope to meet you both at an event this year.
One of the coolest dudes around. I'd give almost anything to know half the stuff Dennis has forgotten about building cars. Watching the 55 build from dumpster to driving was and is amazing.
Back when the '55 build started (when I started "Riding with Alex Taylor") I wondered how Dennis Taylor could have the know-how to build such a highly competitive racer, but this episode goes a long way towards explaining the whole background and how he got to where he is today. Impressive skills! BTW: What a wonderful car. When I was a teenager back in the late Sixties I built a lot of car models in 1/24th scale (AMT, Monogram, etc). The only one I've kept is the '41 Willy's painted that same color (well I tried to😎) - even has a Mooneyes sticker on it - a real classic Gasser...
As a kid , I lived across the street from Bill Jarret (Tia-Juna-Taxie. Saw the Stone Woods Cook willys, Tommie Ivo, and others. Bill also had a candy red 41 willys and crashed on its first night out in San Antonio Texas. Thanks for the story. Really enjoy this channel.
Every time Dennis goes into how he makes (or made) things I get more and more impressed. Pretty sure he has been there and done one hell of a lot more than a lot of other builders.
Great content Alex and Dennis !.. Love to hear the family car history!.. Love that gasser !.. Can't wait to see it out on the track again, and or at shows
I love the evolution of the channel and the “relatable knowledge” - no one really does that. True learning is more than just parroting parts and specs.
The expertise and knowledge wrapped up in the pretty blue package should be sitting with Mr Iskenderian’s hot rod at the Museum of Speed!!!! The incredible craftsmanship displayed in one single car is simply amazing!!! It really needs to be preserved!!!
This is the best ! I totally remember Dennis Taylor reproductions. I absoluteley love this car and wondered why is sat in the background. I have a 37 Chev Gasser so I am prejudiced. This will be one of my most favourite series to follow . Thank you Alex and Dennis for doing this.PS; Dennis and Debbie are an extremely talented couple .
NHRA used to love to put my blown Corvair into C/GS and I got to run the SW&C ":C" car with the "little" blown hemi a number of times. Used to beat them for about 600 feet and then "bye-bye"
absolutely love this video. really missed you guys. I could watch 3 hours of you guys talking shop history. Mr. Denis is truly a talented guy. I remember the willys craze in the street rod scene. beautiful car. I cant wait to see the rest of this series
THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing us this car! I love all your stuff but I’m a 41 Willys Gasser guy at heart. My Dream car since I saw the ‘Hot Rod’ movie as a kid. Soooo cool!!!!
I just came across your channel a little while back, great content, you are a lucky young lady to have a mentor like your dad, a very smart knowledgeable man , and of course you seem really intelligent yourself, and beautiful young lady ❤❤
I remember around 67-70', a beautiful green Willys running at Mel Larsons and Beeline. I think it was a Rundles sponsored car but years later - not sure. Fun remembering Loper race cars dominating those years also.
I've seen that Willys in your background for a long time and anxiously waited to hear something about it. Finally got my wish. Dennis, fyi gassers rule.
Yeah ! You can’t ever get rid of that car to much history there . My Anglia is hand full . It wants to try and flip and roll upside down every time I race it . Lol.
Our Anglia is the same way! If you saw the video they did several years ago when they painted the blue Anglia, that was ours. Dennis painted it for us after my husband had an “incident” at the track and we had to rebuild it. 😩
This is going to be a great series of videos! I've been hoping that this car would come out of that coner and get some love!! It always looked luke it was sitting back there crying for some love!😢😢 Now it's wanting to get put back together, and race Baily's orange Himi Mopar!! That would be epic!!!
What a beautiful Willys ! I hope you restore it and blast down the 1/4 Mile. You guys are such a good team race wise as well as the wholesome father daughter relationship. The way you finish each others sentence's and pull each others chains is funny.
I'm an old 1964 - 1968 Drag Racer ( 55 Chevy 2 door sedan D-Gass class ) with 283 chevy w/4 speed. Loved the old Willys 40, 41 and the 33 was my favorite ! Stone Woods & Cook were my heroes ! Great stuff ya'll ! ! !
Can't wait!!!!!!!!! I'm building a 55 Chevy gasser!!!!! I can't wait to get as much info as possible. Please don't skip over anything. I love watching you build this stuff. Sending love from NW Indiana.
I've always been a huge fan of the 41 Willy's. Especially gassers. To me, that's the epitome of drag cars. I know it's not the fastest, but the look is just perfect.
Very interesting. 41 Willys my favorite of all time, still, at 68 yrs old. I have vintage mopar muscle cars, running outa yrs to build a Willys. Great channel !
Hallelujah!... once again the stars have aligned and the World is peaceful once more. Waiting for a video to be released is like childhood anticipation with thoughts of the bearded one Christmas eve!!!
Wow. I knew Dennis was highly skilled but this video really shows how well rounded his talents are. The man can literally do it ALL at a level most of us can only dream about. All of us long-time car guys are very familiar with the Stone,Woods,Cook car . I can't wait to see more of this revival.
It is so nice to hear how things went for you people and I mean you tubers when you discuss what you did in your younger years and made stories out of it well I shouldn't say make stories tell stories about it and it's so neat to see the humanity in you and I just love getting to know people through what they say and did in days past starting to make a mental relationship with a person that way thank you for the time and effort awesome cars you build
Wow hi nice to see that you are doing things again !!! nice willys !!! your dad has a job ahead of him but with your help it will be better for getting stuff done . TODD FROM MICHIGAN .
Let's see, a mechanical injected blown hemi in a gasser willy's? Yea that's cool! Every time I hear Dennis talk about the things that he does to these cars, my respect for him grows. Such a super talented guy.
Tending to think the time for glass bodies is here again for the limited availability of -60’s, -70’s, -80’s, sound bodies, front ends, doors, etc, for race cars. Most of the glass shops now, cater to niche markets, and the larger potential market is being ignored. Thanks for sharing the history.
Have to say this is one of my favorite episodes. Your dad is a true old school essence of hot rodding. And to go along with the Willy’s getting light at 150 because of getting air stuck in the front area. A factory five Shelby cobra is the same way the front end gets super light at 145-150 mph. One thing about the long ladder bar set up they worked so well on the street where you were doing a dry burn out or maybe a little bit of water. Because it helped transfer the car weight instantly
Guys, Thanks so much for this video. It reminds me of myself and my baby girl working in the shop. These times mean so much to us as I know your time together mean to you. Love the channel Alex!!
Hey Alex. Missed you, kid. So happy to see you back with DT. Family history and fast, cool cars. How can that be boring? Also, Bailey, get you shirt together man!
Dennis that car is so awesome. I hope you never get rid of it. I know it’s a drag car, but maybe you guys ought to fix it to be a street rod, make it street legal and enjoy cruising in it. I have helped covert old race cars too street cars and it does my heart good to see them on the street
Dennis, that car is beautiful. I would wire in some lights and drive it on the streets. 41 Willys are still one of the coolest cars ever built. Make me a deal.
Every video that you do in the shop I'm always trying to see that wills that car is just nasty looking and your finally working on it I've been waiting so long thank you for finally getting back to work on this bad ass car thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your Willys is such a cool car. Im a huge gasser fan and love first generation Hemi fan. The SWC Swindler A & B were rwo of the very best from the gasser wars. Your rocker arms are totaly awesome, especialy the chromolly versions. I would vole to have a set for my Dads 392 Hemi street gasser. I cant wait for your folloup to this video.
'55 Chevys, 40-41 Willys, the cars I've lusted after for 60 yrs. I got my start w/ cars building models, then shortly started building custom model replicas of cars in Hot Rod, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding. I went nuts w/ details, plug wires battery/starter/ignition wiring, even built custom tube headers using telephone trunk cable wire & chunks of ink tube from old Bic pens. Last real race car I built was a 55 Chev 'roadster' w/ a Hilborn injected alcohol 392, themed as a '57 Funny Car'.
Absolutely amazing Alex. Love the Willy’s and looking forward to seeing breath again. The story to about the cars you guys have is such an important part of the car and I love i. My uncle has a 40 Ford deluxe sedan. It’s a favorite of mine 401 Buick Nail Head with twin 4barrels. It’s a cruiser with an attitude. Thanks for the content and I look forward to seeing more soon.👍🏻✌🏻👌🏻
Agreed, this Willys Gasser should be kept as a nostalgic museum piece and driven on special occasions.

The knowledge that Dennis has is amazing. When you are casting parts and making rockers simply a Legend.

After all your videos I've watched. Dennis has an incredible amount of detail. He thinks about everything.
Dennis is an unbelievably talented man .Impeccable work
Nothing boring here, very informative and well produced...love the Taylor history lesson, you've done a lot in a short period of time and so talented.
Love it !

I will never be bored watching y'all! It's awesome to know that I'm close to someone like Dennis that could answer any questions I may have!
Alex, I love the fact the you have grown up in the car scene
I have a daughter in-law and she is a go getter like you keep on doing what you do and tell your dad the Knight family thinks you guys are great. The fact that your mother built that body on that Willys by herself is just amazing. I think she’s an awesome person. God bless you all.
Dennis is a bad ass, but so is your mom.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,awesome family history........................Long live the whole family............................................

gotta love watching a premier as it comes out .... no ads cutting the interviews off.
Love it, obviously no script, the real Taylor crew. Super interesting, will continue to watch for videos
Hope to meet you both at an event this year.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,absolutely correct.........
Love the Willys !! I had a 392 in my 71 challenger back in the 80s. Good times !
The expertise and knowledge wrapped up in the pretty blue package should be sitting with Mr Iskenderian’s hot rod at the Museum of Speed!!!! The incredible craftsmanship displayed in one single car is simply amazing!!! It really needs to be preserved!!!
Very exciting content...So happy to see the family coming together on a piece of Taylor history
That’s awesome, I’ve always wanted to see that car run at the track again
This is the best ! I totally remember Dennis Taylor reproductions. I absoluteley love this car and wondered why is sat in the background. I have a 37 Chev Gasser so I am prejudiced. This will be one of my most favourite series to follow . Thank you Alex and Dennis for doing this.PS; Dennis and Debbie are an extremely talented couple .
I have always loved the Willys Gassers my whole life .
The story and the car is awesome! Can't wait to see it back in action!
WOW, what a beauty, the Willys ain't bad either.!
NHRA used to love to put my blown Corvair into C/GS and I got to run the SW&C ":C" car with the "little" blown hemi a number of times. Used to beat them for about 600 feet and then "bye-bye"
Alex, you did a great job of interviewing your dad and the historical notes were fascinating.
Thanks you both so much.
Alex , your dad is so smart. He knows about everything in a race car. The knowledge he has is incredible. 👍🏻👍🏻
I always love seeing old race cars coming back to life👍
41 willys gassers are still one of the coolest cars of all time. I know there's a million of them, but I still love em. Same with the Henry J's
Restore and re-use
Nostalgic drag n drive for smaller events.....
I would NEVER get rid of it
That is family history gold......

Great hearing of the early days,...loved the gassers as a kid!!
Looking forward to when you guys get this willys done plus the other projects you guys are talking about can't wait looking forward
Dennis Has Hands of Gold
This is so cool to see and hear the stories of building this Willys Gasser. Can't wait to see the "rest of the story".
When I was going to school in Denver Co.,(in the 60s) I got to see Stone Woods Cook run and I've got some pictures I took some where in a box.
One of the most interesting videos I’ve seen about gassers & hemis! Will be great to see it melt rubber! Great job Taylor’s!
Yeah ! You can’t ever get rid of that car to much history there . My Anglia is hand full . It wants to try and flip and roll upside down every time I race it . Lol.

Very interesting. 41 Willys my favorite of all time, still, at 68 yrs old. I have vintage mopar muscle cars, running outa yrs to build a Willys. Great channel !
Hes a bad ass builder he built her a very quick 55 and a 68 Ss. Your so awesome Alex11.
Awesome history lesson!! Thanx for taking us along on the journey!!
Alex, count your blessings. To be teamed up with your dad. He is one in a million. Love the car and really look forward to this series!

The hand craftsmanship is a marvel to behold that willys can stand up with purpose show cars
Looking forward to the clean up and redoing of the Willy's. Dennis's knowledge we could watch all day 😁👍
Dennis,Alex and Megan thanks for the in depth history. Not just this beautiful car but family business story as well. More more more!
God bless you guys you guys get along so well it’s nice to see daughter and father there are car guys
Cant wait to see this back up and running ....i hope your going to have a drive Alex......
Wow hi nice to see that you are doing things again !!! nice willys !!! your dad has a job ahead of him but with your help it will be better for getting stuff done . TODD FROM MICHIGAN .
I thoroughly enjoy listening to these two. Alex' hair looks great dark and shiny.
My Dad growing up in So Cal during the 60’s watched SW&C and many others race at Lions Drag Strip. He raced a SBC 56 tri five in brackets
I remember, when Stone, Woods, Cook was running a Blown Oldsmobile, with a 3 speed LaSalle or a 4 speed B&M Hydro, circa 1960..
Love hearing Dennis talk about Street Performance!!!! Too bad that is something the younger hot rodders couldn’t experience.
Miss my 41 all Steel Coupe, sold it in 97 had a chance to buy it back in 2021, I had tracked it across the USA and back, now it’s in Paso Robles
Every video that you do in the shop I'm always trying to see that wills that car is just nasty looking and your finally working on it I've been waiting so long thank you for finally getting back to work on this bad ass car thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Him hittin it with stuff was that car tellin him......I'm still here man
don't forget about me.
Gotta keep it dennis, she made it for ya
Your Willys is such a cool car. Im a huge gasser fan and love first generation Hemi fan. The SWC Swindler A & B were rwo of the very best from the gasser wars. Your rocker arms are totaly awesome, especialy the chromolly versions. I would vole to have a set for my Dads 392 Hemi street gasser. I cant wait for your folloup to this video.
Love the history! Thanks for sharing Alex! You both are legends! ❤️
That was fun - looking forward to the rest of the story and the refurb of course! 😊
S. W. & C. in this blue always was first in mind speaking of gasser wars. Although it was seen in pale blue and also black. Worth watching. Subbed.
