Thanks A1 AUTO is saying to knock the axle out to change Upper control arm. I see no reasoning for that. That is why I went to your video for a second opinion. Thanks for the help. Next time I will go to your video first. I subscribed
Me and my partner were doing control arms and when we were putting the ball joint back in the knuckle his pry bar slipped and I caught it with my forehead. Had a huge knot for a week
I have a 03 and sorry mine is not this setup... So no clue what 03 you have. I'm trying to avoid dropping strut because bolts go through strut tower. So please let me know how this video helped on a 03 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4 2WD???
@howtoautomotive correct me if I’m wrong in school I was taught to torque the bolts when the car is on the ground because of the tension and all that .
Do you have to reinstall the Shimes? I need to get the top of the wheel out a little and the frame is slotted, inside of tires are wearing faster thanks.
@@obxguy1 Replaced upper control arms, bolt is part of control arm, came with new locking nylon nuts, pulled control arm out all the way and tightened nuts, did not put Shimes back in, so far so good, put new tires on so we'll see how the tires wear.
@@williammakris5413thank for answering. I just looked at a ford service bulletin that says to remove the shims, throw them out, and replace with a washer and nut. Reason is it gives the alignment tech more freedom. I’m taking mine to Firestone for the alignment and will run this bulletin by them.

Very good video 😁
Making gravy. 👍
Ozzstar's Cars got to get it when you can👍
Great video. Thanks!!!!
Great video. You could have jacked the suspension up to the control arm rather than fighting to pull control arm down.
John
I was about to say the same thing
Or just loosen the bolts on the ends of the control arm mine came down really easy
I read you don’t torque until it’s back sitting on ground with tires on to preload it.
Tks great video
Thank you for watching!
Nice video just subscribed
Do you losen the side bolts too, or are those suppose to be tighten when putting the new control arm in?
how long does this take?

Please respond
christian amezquita that’s way I had the floor jack under the lower control arm pushing the suspension up.
How to Automotive nice you’re good!

I’m reading your not supposed to put the shims back in, but to replace them with a washer and nut from ford. What did you end up doing?

Good video
Thank you!
Hold on. The tire, the ball joint nut, and two 21mm nuts? That's it? No caliper? No CV axle? No ball joint tool? That's almost easy.
I subbed
Wait a minute…. Where’s all the rust????
Little different job where I live.
No rusty cars in California
@@HowtoAutomotive can you guys still afford to drive cars in California with theses gas prices?
Good video
Bryce Lund thank you!
