About Love and London:
I'm Jess, I've lived in London for many years, and this channel is a London travel guide for anyone visiting the city that wants to experience it like you live here. Beyond talking about the usual London attractions, I show you some of the cooler things to do in London, that most travel guides don't mention. Watch my videos and you'll feel like you've got a Londoner friend telling you the best kept secrets in the city.
I love the oldest pubs in London, there's so much history. The George Inn, Southwark (est. 1677), Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese (est. 1667), Ye Olde Mitre in Holborn (est. 1546). They are fantastic pubs, such an atmospheric setting to spend an hour or two in, highly recommend! :) x
My partner and I are moving to London from Australia in March- your videos truely are invaluable, thank you so much for the content you create!
Ah amazing! You're welcome and thanks for the kind words
As a Londoner, I don’t like that we come across as quite reserved... I would talk for hours to new people if I could!😂
:)
I had Alice in the Wonderland afternoon Tea at Sanderson hotel, it was so cute and amazing with all the Alice themed sweets and teas. I highly recommend it for more quirky afternoon tea, costs £48pp. I always liked Soho for food and bars, it's my go-to place for a night out in London and also has lots of amazing Korean restaurants which is my favourite cuisine. Tombo cafe is also great for anyone who loves Japanese and matcha anything.
Yay! Thank you so much for all your restaurant recommendations with the locations and different cuisines! I am really excited about the places you recommended and can't wait to visit these places to experience London through the food! I know it was probably hard to nail down your favorites, it would be for me too! May can't get here soon enough.
So hard! lol
I'm working on my second trip to London next year. I've been looking at your older videos again and new ones. I look forward to all your videos next year. Have a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Jess. I can't wait to see what you have in store for next year
Thanks you Barry, you too! Enjoy!
Hi Jess! Thanks so much for all the videos! You have made planning my trip so much easier and less stressful. You hit on so many questions I have before I even ask! My sister and I leave December 1, 2020. I will be purchasing the 3 day london itinerary in 2020 as well. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you!! Lisa
Ah glad you'll be making it over Lisa! Thank you so much for the kind words. So happy I've been able to help !
Thank you so much for answering my question on breakfast recommendations. Can't wait to try them!
You're so welcome! Tag me in your IG pic if you share one!
Thanks a lot, Jess! Your videos were very helpful for my trip to London. Also the 3-Day London Itinerary. I hope I come back to London to enjoy more places and activities. Best wishes for the 2020 guide!
So glad you found the itinerary helpful!! Thanks Patricia and happy new year!
Last year I visited London ,it is always an amazing city
Thanks for all your recommend and they are so useful .Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
For Brunch, I can fully recommend Balans on Old Compton Street, Soho. Especially the larger of the two! Amazing service, awesome pancakes. 😃
Lenin Lives it was when I walked past last week. I ate in there a month ago too.
Absolute BEST breakfast I've ever had in London is at the HAWKSMOOR: GUILDHALL location (they have multiple locations, but this is the only one that has the breakfast). They have a super upscale version of the Full English for two people to share. It's absolutely fantastic.
Beautiful video. really enjoyed. It is a great pleasure to see that this city belongs to my favorite country, UK🇬🇧
Thanks!
Love this video! I was in London last May specifically for photography trip. I completely agree with shooting in SoHo at dusk. It was the perfect lighting and there were a bunch of interesting people to photography. I was there on Friday which was great because there were plenty of people walking around and visiting the pubs, eating and shopping. I also really enjoyed Shoreditch for street photography too. I went on a Saturday morning when the market was happening. Really great street scenes and tons of murals. Another one of my favorites is Camden Town. It is such a great place to shoot. There are a bunch of people walking about and and I took so many pictures in that area. There are also street performers in Camden which always makes for cool shots.
Thanks so much! Glad you got lots of great photos!
Hi, Jess, another interesting and very useful video. I hope you have a lovely Christmas and a brilliant, peaceful and successful new year. Looking forward to your next video soon.
You too Stephen!
We will take your advice and run with it Thank you so much for helping us I can’t wait to spoil my wife on our 25th next spring and with your help I am sure it will be awesome Thank you again so much and Happy Holidays to you and yours
You're welcome! Thanks for submitting a question :)
Great tips. Very helpful for planing my trip in June during Euro 2020
Thanks for watching and commenting Brett!
I forgot I submitted a question and randomly watched this video and was so surprised to hear my name. Thanks for the suggestions. Will be in London in two months and can't wait to see parts of London I've never seen.
Haha awesome!!
Your videos have helped me a lot as I plan to visit London for the first time Feb 1-8th 2020! The weather seems to mimic Tacoma so I'm prepared but your "staying warm" video helped. I HAVE to do a Harry Potter type nerdy tour mainly to share with my daughter, so I'm doing the walking Muggles Tour. I'll let you know how it goes! We get to do High Tea at The Landmark London on Sunday where my husband's work event had us booked. We are so excited for that! I'll give you my feedback on that too! I hope I can get your 3 day in time since it doesn't come out until Jan 27 but we'll keep watching for more tips!
Hey Leisa! That all sounds great. I am not an HP fan at all so I don't know much about any tours or spots to visit (hence why there's no video for it!)
I have one more tip for the bookstore's lovers, Hatchard. Opened over 200 years ago, located in Picadilly street, near Fortnum and Mason
We’ve got two weeks coming up in May for our fourth stay and are no less excited than ever. Well definitely try a couple of the restaurants you recommended. We also enjoy eating one evening during our travels at a Michelin Star restaurant and the last couple times have gone to Le Gavroche and while we loved it would definitely like a recommend on another option if you have one to suggest. The Daunt Books in Marylebone is our favorite and the bonus is it’s only a couple store fronts from Emma Bridgewater’s, one of my favorite shops for wonderful tableware and kitchen bits and bobs.
Ah enjoy!! Let me know what you end up visiting
Hi Jess. A brilliant video as always. Thank you.❤
Bit old this one now...
Another fun afternoon tea is Brigit's Bakery - Afternoon Tea Bus Tour. My husband and I went and had a blast. The food was amazing and you get to see most of London.
I would get so car sick lol
Love your videos Love and London! Not sure which video the 12 people who hit 'dislike' were watching. I've been to London 7 times, and I still learn heaps from your insights. They are smart and always a bit different. Looking forward to heading there in May armed with more of your suggestions. PS. My tip is to check out the Last Tuesday Society in Hackney. Cocktail bar and absinthe lounge upstairs, creepy, slightly pervy museum downstairs. The kind of weird, eccentric cool London does so well.
Hackney is awesome! Thanks so much Kate :)
yayy can't wait for more videos.
Thanks !
I'm so excited because I'm going to london for my birthday this summer
Fun!
Aaaahhh "The Yard" Been chatted up endlessly in there...
Some really good info in this video, and I say this as a Londoner. Cheers Jess =) (and anyone else who works with you).
You can also get a really good view of the Eye while eating g at McDonald's. Cheers
Ew
If this is the last one before Christmas then i will say Merry Christmas, have a good one.
It's not but thank you anyways!
Jess, have you done any videos on sightseeing recommendations that are easy to commute from central London, perhaps an hour train ride? Merry Christmas .. thanks for all your great videos!
Try this article: loveandlondon.com/5-day-trips-to-take-while-visiting-london/ Enjoy!
A very good video before visiting London !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎵🎶💞
Greta vid as usual ... Happy New year will see you next year.
Thank you! You too!
@@goldmaple4360 love u too ..... Didnt want to leave you hanging there ...
Thank you!
Do you have any info on 2020 VE Day celebrations? I will be in the UK for 75th in May and looking for where the best place is to see the festivities. Or how to find out what's going on.
Thanks.
Hi, I will be going with my kids in April, 2020. My boys love soccer and we would like to do things associated with that, such as museums, tours, as well play on a local field with local kids if neighborhood have them. Any recommendation is appreciated. Thank you.
If the Aldwych hotel really nails the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme then they'll endanger the child's life in some way and have an Oompa Lumpa sing about their shortcomings after.
Lolz
Love this channel and I was born in London, feel like when your from here you end up taking London for granted, I watch these videos and I’m like “wait what? We have what in London?! How do I not know this” 😂
Hahah that's good for me to hear! I always try to have tips that even Londoners find helpful.
Love and London such a helpful channel thank you! I’ve got so many ideas now for a staycation in my home town now, might stay in a hotel and explore parts I’ve never seen before
I will be going to London in September, maybe you can do a video on best restaurants and best afternoon tea .
Hey Iren, you can find all of that in the 3-Day London Itinerary: loveandlondon.com/3-day-london-itinerary
Thanks for sharing ur videos nice.
Could you perhaps cover Brixton...
UK burgers....are a no for me dawg!. US beef is really something amazing. I think the best burger I had in the UK was at burger king. no lie. Stick with the Lamb in the UK...it is amazing.
Also: I think a generation ago in the US they called thrift shops second hand stores! I think Vintage and Thrift started being used in the 90's 2000's. It sounds more bougie I guess. LOL...
Your videos contributed to me having a successful London trip this summer. Thank you for a great 2019!
Glad to hear you had a great time!!
Have you updated the 3 day guide for 2020? I will be there in March..I am primarily concerned about what to do in the evenings. I really, really want to see a show...
It will be re-launched on 27th Jan :)
Good consultation.
Also, if you want a taste of DUCK & WAFFLE but don't want to wait, check out the DUCK & WAFFLE LOCAL offshoot in the West End (near the Piccadilly Circus tube station). It's a more accessible version of the original with a scaled down menu. You can still the order the signature duck & waffle for £16 (instead of £19 at the original). View does not compare, though!
Yes view definitely doesn't compare :)
Christ you know better places to visit in London than me and I've lived here all my life.
It's my job!
Recommendations at The Palomar? And does it need reservations at the bar for one on a weekday? Since that's just two blocks from my hotel, I'd love to give it a try!
Try to make a reservation at the bar or you might wait a while. Recommendations are in the 3-Day London Itinerary: loveandlondon.com/3-day-london-itinerary/ :)
My wife and I are taking a trip to London Jan 15 - 27 and would love to see your guide. We saw the 2020 one doesn't come out until the last day of our trip...is there any way to get the 2019 version for now? Or an early look at the 2020 one? We'd be happy to help give feedback too if that's helpful after testing it out!
Hey Ian, if you shoot us an email we can see what we can do. info@loveandlondon.com
65 days till my trip do London!!
Yay!
66 for me now!
By the way. Do you recommend Europe travel insurance?
You should always have travel insurance, no matter where you go!
Could u do a Christmas video. Like clothes and outdoor
I have a few Christmas videos here: ruclips.net/video/bBiuUzE2a0U/видео.html
Where is a good placethat is not a club more low key for a traveler to visit for drinks, music & maybe dancing? I like R&B, Rap, neo soul, EDM.
Like the vids - but as a born and bred Londoner, it’s striking that (other than Camden Town) you don’t like North London - it’s all South, West and a little bit East. What about some recommendations for Hampstead (not just the Heath), Highgate, Islington, Primrose Hill ...
Who said I don't like north London? I live south so naturally more of my recommendations will be from there.
So how about exploring some more. North London has so much more to offer than any other part of London (I admit that I am a little biased here). Within an easy walk of Hampstead Tube you can visit the Freud Museum, Keat’s House, 3 Willow Road (Goldfinger’s home), Fenton House, Burgh House, Hampstead Heath, old coaching inns, lots and lots of good pubs, Hampstead Theatre, the theatres of the Royal Central School (almost free performances by tomorrow’s leading actors), cafes, shops, views, the Chalybeate Well, restaurants (good and indifferent), architecture (old to very modern), recording studios, places of worship, art galleries, graveyards where the famous were buried, stand where Constable painted some of his iconic views ..... And that is just a small part of NW3. Get out a little .... ;)
How expensive is it to stay in Nottinghill in an Airbnb? Would you consider it an affordable area to stay for six days.
Expensive is relative, so hard to say. Just do a search and compare with other areas you're interested in.
What photographer do you suggest while visiting London?
We work with an amazing photographer: loveandlondon.com/london-photo-sessions
We are going to London in March but when we arrive in Heathrow airport we’ll need to go catch Eurostar to go to Paris for a few days then back to London for a few days. My question is how long would it will take from the airport to St. Pancras by either Heathrow Express or Taxi and what would be the better choice?
Use Google Maps or Citymapper to figure that out and other journeys like this yourself! :)
Michelle T, I think your reply was deleted
J wonder why?? I was just thanking you how nice of you to share the info. So again, thank you so much!! 🙏🏼🇺🇸
@@user-yu1qq7sc1m No problem, born and bred londoner here know the city well.
Tried to take your survey, but it says "webpage not available."
Seems to be working ok ? Maybe try again. Thanks so much!
If you want more interaction with locals, just go further north.
3 day itinerary is not available before my trip :(
I was also trying to reference it but it's being updated - but, I'd like to see the old version to prep for our trip too!
Ruth Gomez me too! I’m willing to purchase the old one as a reference. It’s better than me (never been to London before) planning it myself and getting lost lol
Sorry!
Love and London noooo thank you for your videos they are really helpful as well! It’s just hard to put everything together 🤣
Hi Annie, just so you know, we have opened up sales for the itinerary for just 48 hours. Here's the direct link to purchase it, it's only available until Sunday 29th Dec at noon London time: sowl.co/rejeD
3:52 Asking "Can you recommend a restaurant?" is a pretty pointless question. The answer could literally be Nando's or it could be The Ritz.
I disagree with your comments about Londoners not being friendly, even in busy pubs. I have found on my visits there, both on business and pleasure trips, they are friendly, interested, interesting and when needed helpful. Yes even in busy pubs.
I didn't say they aren't friendly! They just aren't as approachable as Americans are.
@@loveandlondon again I disagree. Oh sure there ares some jerks that are difficult to approach. However, they are the exception and not the rule.
