Bought a '23 Yamaha Wolverine X4 850 XT-R in July. It's a cruiser, great at nothing but can do everything asked. We bring family/friends when they're available and the dog enjoys it also. No regrets after trading in the 2-up atv we had. Pushing 70 yo now, it was getting uncomfortable for long rides.
I’ve owned one for a year now. Love the QUIET engine, great for putting with the kids and walking the dog. You can putt around all day with this thing and there is no engine heat radiating into the cabin. No squeaks or squeals, just super smooth operation. And it does not get stuck lol. I really like it!
This is what I’m strongly considering
This is probably the best review of one of these that I’ve seen. It’s a good but flawed machine and you hit the major strengths and weaknesses. I was in the market for a trailable 4 seater last year and the universal praise made me think that this was going to be the perfect machine for me but after actually driving one I wasn’t as totally blown away as the press was. The 3 machines in this class are all pretty close and all have their advantages and disadvantages
you ended up buying which one ?
Teryx4. Most usable rear seats of the 3 and that was more important to me than cargo space. Power is similar to the Wolverine and so is the transmission. Ride and handling too. The Honda is far superior in terms of power and top speed but the rear seats are for kids or short trips only. The dct transmission seems a little jerky sometimes and I’d wager it would cost a fortune to fix if it ever failed. I love my Teryx the only downside is that it’s pretty loud in the cabin. Heat in the cabin seems average but the Wolverine really shines in lack of heat and it’s quieter. The Fox shocks on the Teryx allow for a little more spirited ride as well. Not a sport buggy by any means but sportier than the other 2. All 3 machines are very close so I tell anyone in the market to spend time in all 3 because it’s smaller details that’ll make your decision
@@jadosa29 You didn't go wrong with the T4 for sure! I actually had a 2019 T2 and loved it.. but ultimately the noise(which was obnoxious) and heat caused me to sell it. Anything over 10 mph and you're screaming at the passengers. Heat was bad in summer! I then went to a 2019 Mav trail 1000 dps... Loved it but it was a can am and i didn't trust it being deep in the woods alone (I've always had yami, honda, kawi and suzuki products) Well after bleeding mass amounts of money I finally bought the 19 X2 SE. This thing is butter smooth and so quiet you can talk at 30 mph at normal tone. The seats aren't as cozy as the T2. But I think the ride is smoother( with some adjusting) I personally don't think the teryx is sportier than the wolverine. I would recommend either one but i haven't seen any cons in my X2 besides the seating
Would you recommend the Teryx 4 over the Wolverine X4 for more difficult terrain and steep climbing? At least 3 videos I watched the Wolverine didn't have the power to climb steep hills or got bogged down in mud.
Completely agree, love the Yamaha quietness, CVT system, and fit n finish, but the speed limiting, terrible entry and exit, and underwhelming travel killed it for me. Not that I'm thrilled with my General either. Its give and take.
I can appreciate that these manufacturers want to provide something for everyone. YXZ for going fast, and this machine for leisurely exploring. But...what if you want to go fast with 3-4 people? Yamaha has not answered this question, while others have. Great video guys. I enjoyed it.
Slap on the Weller Racing turbo kit when it's released.
10 year belt warranty! Did you mention that??
You have reviewed them both now...does the noise and heat of the Teryx4 move you towards the X4, or are you still a Teryx fan?
My biggest question is. It's limited to 50 miles an hour are they geared low like they come off the line like a bad out of hell. Like upgrading to 29 inch tires shouldn't be a problem. I shouldn't notice anything in power.
Right?.
I love mine!
I take it the kawi is your top pick in the hybrids...I only wish kawi had a tailgate..... because you can buy a big bore clutch kit and power module to erase speed limiter and still have great ride comfort and power under 20grand. In the le
That’s a 10/10
The rear seat will never be a problem, if I buy one I’ll never be in the rear seat!
Xe rất đẹp 👍
we need this engine in the grizz... come on yamaha hear us!!!!!
Federico Matías Perez not sure why.
Because the Grizzly will have to be redesigned from the ground up. To much money for Yamaha to make the investment.
The day I don’t want to haul ass in my YXZ I’d buy this due to simply the Yamaha built quality and superior engine quality and quietness...
DUNE YXZ it’s great to have both!
dickfacepeterson I wish! You have both?
Old Feller...I’ve noticed that as well. The difference is amazing...But if you tell that to someone who owns a Polaris or a Can Am they get angry fast!
Old Feller I couldn’t agree more. My YXZ is so comfortable and just a pleasure to drive. No horrendous clutch noise and clanking chassis sounds. But nowadays people just look at horsepower and suspension travel. They just want to brag to everyone about what they have but really know nothing about it.
The only machine I’d trade my rhino 660R in for.
brandon wright you’d love the r-spec prior x2
I’m buying a 2020 can am maverick x3 x ds turbo rr with 195 HP , if you wanted to come to MD and review it id be down !
“Yam” aha. Canned yams.
Lol!!! I heard that right away. Had to rewind to make sure I wasn’t going crazy.
Yamaha builds great ATV’s but it’s Yom-ma-Ha, not Yaaam-a-Ha.
I go all the way back to when they only built pianos and 80cc trail bikes. ITS YAM A HAAA! ha ha ha.
It went all Wrong at Wolverine. Sorry I am a Buckeyes Fan.
GAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!
papa Wattz Lol
