I went out of my way last Thursday night to pick up a bottle. Cracked open Friday and one pour and disappointment. Didn’t even go back for a 2nd glass. Great video

I buy Buffalo Trace anytime I can get it under or around $30. I think it is a good warmup bourbon and although it’s been overhyped is a solid 90 proof pour. I would never buy Traveler, anything attached to a celebrity especially a sober one, I am immediately skeptical

Hey Jason, you deserve that 100k. Not sure if you've considered it yet but an idea for some different videos could be hunting videos, showing some highlights of good stores in your area or when traveling. I know personally, that is some of my favorite content and it somewhat satisfies the itch for bourbon hunting (saving money in the process)

Had a chance to taste this at the BT Distillery 2 weeks ago and your review is spot on. I am a BT, ER and Weller fan but this brought nothing to the table.
Even before I knew anything about this bottle, I saw it at a northern Kentucky store: "1 per" in the 130s. 🤦🤦🤦 The employee was telling me how it's the latest hottest BT release, and people are gobbling it up. Just looking at the bottle, I thought, at this proof? Where's the age? Is it NCF? I just left the store shaking my head. Then I find out the MSRP was less than 1/3 the asking price. Celebrity whiskies never cease to amaze me. 🤣 This year is not off to a good start.
My buddy turned me onto your channel. I too live in Ohio a bit south. Anyway I'm so glad you felt the way you did about Traveller because I felt the exact same. Got one bottle to try it and won't get it again. I didn't pay a crazy price just list. I think by them adding CS's name is why they put the price point where they did. Anything Chris S. seems to be selling even Filson did a collab with him.

I recently purchaes a bottle. It is an easy drinker. Like you said, there is not much to it. Kind of disappointing. I'm using it as a mixer.

It's all about the hype!
I found one at retail and picked it up. Not dissapointed but agree would not pay over msrp for this and probably won't replace when its gone. Could be a good beginner whiskey with that pleasant but not complex flavor.
Buffalo Trace is very good at marketing. At $40, it is getting into the same price range as Crown Royal Reserve, so it isn't unheard of for a Canadian blend, but I don't think that version of Crown Royal is a huge step up from the basic version. I like having a Canadian blend around as a warm-up drink, but a bottle of standard Crown Royal should do that job just fine. I got the reserve out of curiosity, and it does the job, but I'll probably go back to the standard version next time. This latest marketing endeavor from Buffalo Trace likely won't be on my radar.

Nice review! I grabbed a bottle at the first of the year for 38.00 bucks, I thought it had a nice nose, sweet, vanilla, creamy flavor but it’s to much like a metallic vanilla Canadian Whiskey? Not sure

Great review! The Buffalo Trace fanboy-ism is getting old. The only ones I've tried that's really lived up to the hype is the EH Taylor lineup (admittedly I've yet to try any of the Pappy bottles). This sounds like a $15-$20 bottle wrapped up in a $40 label. If I'm in the mood for cheap whiskey, I'll stick with an actual cheap whiskey... I'm looking at you Mellow Corn or Evan Williams BIB!

Jason, thank you so much for your honest, transparent review since so many other Whiskey Tubers are giving it way to much love. After I tasted it I came up with the same conclusions that you did. For comparison, I tasted this against Benchmark Top Shelf and Benchmark easily won out.

Proofed down, basic, easy sipping and a gateway whiskey for ppl new to the category. Partner with a country singer for an initial marketing push
So there's no actual BT bourbon in it? Idk if people are chasing it just for the BT connection or the Stapleton connection. But I won't be seeking it out whenever it hits shelves in NY.

Look it’s a pretty decent daily drinker for those thinking about dipping their toe into the Canadian whiskey profile.
That being said this is a very okay whiskey that should not be overhyped like this

FYI. Be Leary of any celebrity endorsed whisky. One exception I’ve found is Bob Dylan’s Heavens Door. The single barrels of those are excellent.

I am definitely not chasing it and I don’t think I’d even purchase it at retail. I predict this bottle starts sitting on the shelves once everybody actually tasted or really hears about it, not gonna chase it just cause it comes from a certain distillery not gonna chase it just because it has somebody’s name attached to it. 35 bucks I can get an Evan Williams homewrecker American heroes that’s gonna be a hell of a lot better.😎🥃 Cheers, Jason.
On a side note, if you really believed they expanded to meet demand, think again. Just look at all the new products they have released since it was announced. More Wellers, barrel programs for EHT and Stagg Jr. If it’s from Sazerac I got to have it = Tater Logic

Good review Jason. I was going to pick up a bottle if I found one for MSRP just for curiosity sake. Your review and many others made it a hard pass for me. Anyone giving this bottle a stellar review probably overpaid and they are trying to justify their purchase.
The great news about this is I am seeing deal on Buffalo trace buy 2 for 50. The stores have tons as people fight for this gsrbage.
I have not tried it yet. Here is my question. How does it compare to other blended whiskey, light whiskey and Canadian whiskey? I think maybe people are not giving it a fair shake because we are comparing it to Bourbon and expecting it to be like Bourbon, which it isn’t. Just my thoughts.

I don't have a huge knowledge of tequila but I can tell you one that has no sugar or additives and is non chill filtered. EL Tosoro Resposado is delicious. All there tequila is actually. Start there. FORTALEZA and Olmeca Altos are also great ones.

I like benchmark Top Floor for $16 way better. Money grab
