Had the bombergers 2022 this week at bourbon bar. Also had weller cybp and makers mark caller aged. The bombergers was hands down the best of the three. Excellant pour
Wow...even better than makers celler aged!?! Thats surprising. I have the 2023 bombergers, it is damn good. Though ive never had makers CA. From the reviews and talking to people that have it/have tried it, i would expect it to be better than bombergers

I finally acquired both bottles of the 2023 release. Combined, they make an amazing whiskey experience. I like them both individually, but Shenkberger should be a release all on its own. I am looking for the 2024 releases but my area gets allocated bottles last and limited. Thanks for the review
Sheer dumb luck but grabbed a bottle of Shenk’s (first time with this bottle) and a barrel pick of Eagle Rare (first time getting a store pick of this beauty) at my local store in Oregon.

Nice review as usual. That's one of the few times I've disagreed with you. Regarding 2023; Bomberger's > Shenk's. That's what great about whiskey, we can disagree and it's all good. So many choices out there. I will probably look for a Bomberger's this year. Who knows, I might buy a Shenk's if I see it.
@@BuffaloBourbonEnthusiasts most folks still liked the higher proof of the bombergers over the shenks last year. But I love that toffee note. 2024 though is a bombergers year for me.
@@TheMashandDrum2023 they were both great, but i think i like the bomb better. Havent been able to get this years. Ive seen a couple ppl say this years shenks is better than bomb, and vice versa. I think SLB said they werent happy with either this year. Everyones got their own palates and opinions, thats what makes whiskey so great, just harder to decide what to do on higher priced juice based on reviews. Great review as always bud

In the past few years since trying Shenks in a hotel bar, I’ve treated myself to an overpriced online purchase of a bottle of Shenks. This time, I’m gonna order the Bomberger 💣🍔
I did the same for last years Shenk’s which I got a few bottles of and a bomberger. Loved the Shenk’s. Luckily my buddy stopped by the distillery Saturday and got me both bottles.
@@walbarn yeah I think that's the main drawback but Michters does enter the barrel at only 104 proof so event though it's only 92 proof it's still close to full proof which is wild.
If it's the proof, and not your budget, that's keeping you away from these...you're just missing out. I've spent way more on worse, higher-proof whiskey (more times than I'd like to admit).
Navy Exchanges in my area had the Shenks ($86.xx). Grabbed bottles for myself and friends. Michter's has def stepped up their game with them. The first release, to keep the brand copyright, were horrid. Th2 2024 Shenks is great. It's really great for a low proofer. As a friend said, Michter's knows how to get a lot of flavor in low proofers. Shame their standard Michter's sour mash is horrid.

I have the 2019 and the 2023 Shenk’s. I haven’t opened the 2023 yet but my notes on the 2019 are similar to what you said about the 2023. Dig it!

I don't mind paying a few dollars for good whiskey, but I can't justify $100 for a below 100 proof (shenks).

My guess it has a lot to do with the low barrel entry proof, they end up using less water to get the proof down.
