I'll address the lyric change. I appreciate everyone's opinion in that he should have kept it "One girl" since the song is implied to be from the perspective of 2B, but because Caleb wanted to put his own self and heart into the song. The lyrics meant a lot to him so he changed it to be from his perspective. That was his decision and I agreed it'd be best. It did not come from a place of insecurity and was by no means a thoughtless decision. We worked extremely hard on this video and are both very proud of it. If one lyrical change ruins an entire project for you, I implore you to have a more open mind to projects like this in the future. I hope this puts our decision into better perspective.

It’s weird because I’ve never played Nier Automata but I know this song incredibly well, I spent 100’s of hours driving around in the Regalia on FFXV blasting this bad boy out, so all of my recognition and association with this song takes me to Final fantasy, and it’s a peculiar feeling because this is a big song from a completely different franchise that I know nothing about at all.

Commenters saying “thought we were past gender insecurities”, then maybe that should also mean people should feel confident changing the gender to identify with a song a lot more. And to those annoyed at the pronoun change. Caleb wanted to show a part of himself to you, something that I personally know is EXTREMELY hard to do. Most of Caleb's covers are hit or miss to me, but I think thats why this one connects with me so well.

I finally got around to play this game, loving it so far and especially the music! Also, Caleb got some good control on his voice and I like the use of acoustic rythm guitar and switching to electric when it gets more intense.

If you're complaining about the pronoun change, why? It's literally just one word. It shouldn't ruin the cover for anyone. I prefer the way the original was written as well but this isn't the original. It's a cover. If Caleb wanted to change the pronoun so that the lyrics connect to him more, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
If he was going to change it, "boy" would have been a hundred times better fit. Using man here at the very least, screws with the rhyming and leaves the line feeling flat and unfinished. Boy would have still had a slight internal rhyme to it.
"girl" is a word that has more actual verbal complexity, especially in how the mouth and tongue move to make that sound. It added a specific sound to the lyric that a long "man" doesn't have. It's purely aesthetic and it bothers me.
