    I wish you’d have compared the Viltrox 28mm/f1.8 to the Sony 28mm/f2. I have the Sony, and would have been interested to see if the Viltrox f1.8 photos are different *enough* to justify buying it.

    At one point every manufacturer made a 28mm. It was a standard lens to have for street and photojournalist. I’m not really sure why it fell out of favor.

    • @DylanBlackburn
      @DylanBlackburn  Год назад +7

      I don’t get it either. I’ve talked with many photographers about why Sony hasn’t made a 28mm 1.4 G Master. Such a missed opportunity for a fantastic focal length.

      @TheA4mfilms Год назад +3

      It's more especially weird when people LOVE the leica Q and that's 28mm. You'd think Sony would want to steal a piece of that pie.

      A Sony 28mm GM will be big like a van and not usabel for streetphotography

      @@WU_FotoSo make it f/1.8 like the 20mm or make one that is a member of the small G series to go with the 24, 40, and 50.

      coz they fear a 28mm would cannibalize 24 and 35 sales. it sits right in between both and the gap is like x1.2.

    Love the review! Right now, I’m trying to pick out the smallest 35ish mm lens for my a7C. It looks like it’s between the Samyang/Rokinon 35mm f2.8, the Zeiss 35 2.8, or the new Sony 40mm 2.5. It would be awesome to see a “Battle of the Smallest Lenses” type video, comparing the three.

    • @DylanBlackburn
      @DylanBlackburn  Год назад

      That would be a great video idea! Sadly don’t have any of those lenses (used to own the Samyang 35mm 2.8) but I’ve been strongly considering the Zeiss 35mm recently… and the 40mm 2.5… so many lenses ugh haha

      I’ve got the Rokinon 24, 35, 45, and 75, all at 1.8. They’re made of plastic, but so, so light. IQ is great, especially on the 75. Find I always reach for a couple of from this set when I go out because they’re so light and still fast. I’ve also updated all of their firmware’s and the autofocus works great on my a7c2.

    Great video! Helped me in my decision to buy the lens😀 Would you say you could still use the lens in dusty environment (e.g the beach, but not close to water ofcourse)? Or would tiny bits of sand or similar make its way trough to the sensor? 😌 Have asked a couple other youtubers about this before, but no answers yet. Would highly appreciate some thoughts on this

      @@orjan37 thanks for watching! While I’m not 100% sure about the weather sealing on this lens, I would trust it enough to take to the beach or semi dusty environment. Make sure before you take the lens off you don’t see any sand around the mount and remove the lens with the sensor facing down just to be safe! I can do a closer inspection of the mount later and shoot me an email if you would to see photos of the mount/seals up close!

    I admit I really want a 28mm lens but do wish Viltrox built this lens more like their APS-C 75/1.2 (which I bought for my A6700) or 27/1.2 they have released for Fuji that will be coming to Sony. I’m a stills shooter and having an aperture ring without real stops is problematic to me. Especially as the lens ages. Yours is brand new. Does it have a very real ‘A’ setting? Any chance Sigma will add a 28/2 to their I- Series? I will use on both my full size and compact full frame Sony bodies. I also have the A7CR along with A7RV and A1. Thank you for your video. Appreciate your efforts.

    How do you find the mini grip? I have the A7RV and I grabbed a mint A7CR on black Friday, it didn't have the grip in the box

    • @DylanBlackburn

      I love it! The way Sony designed it makes it super easy to swap out the batteries. There’s a small unlock lever on the bottom that allows it to spring open when unlocked. Doesn’t feel tedious or annoying to change the battery. Very weird that yours did not include one
