    Is it possible to recover corrupted videos from my CFexpress card, excluding Untrunc, which is so complicated to use? I would really appreciate a dedicated video on video repair methods.

      You can upload both the corrupted file and a working video sample to Clever Online Video Repair at repair.cleverfiles.com. The tool is currently free. The working sample must have exactly the same video settings and be recorded with the same camera in the same recording mode. Typically, this sample is the last successfully recorded file before the corrupted one.

    had formatted the CF card in the Canon 5D MIV by mistake (but had not, luckily recorded new images on it) and was able to recover all the raw files using Disk Drill paid version...worked smoothly...thanks for sharing!

    Is there anything for recovery of a formatted compact flash card that was written over with new images??

      The recovery chances are slim, but it would not hurt trying Disk Drill.

    How can you recover images with a 'Low" chance at recovery? Is there a way to repair these seemingly damaged files? They are appearing as Low but exist between a series of High chance files taken during the same shoot.

      The latest version of Disk Drill can estimate recovery chances to give you a general idea of how likely the found files can be recovered intact.
      The preview option remains the only way to confirm that a specific file is recoverable. The failure to preview may be due to an internal file error, fragmentation, data overwriting, encryption, file system peculiarities, or limitations of your operating system. Therefore, we do not guarantee recovery if you cannot fully preview your files in the free version of Disk Drill.

    I was hoarding photos from my SD extreme today, and then a little later my camera AND computer won’t read the files!! SD has not been damaged and is fairly new (used for 4 other photo sessions) I’m terrified to reach out to clients, looking for options first. Never had this happen in 10 years!!!

      Check if it shows up in Disk Management on Windows or Disk Utility on macOS to verify if the issue is with the card or the device. Use recovery software like Disk Drill to attempt retrieving your files, but avoid formatting or writing new data to the card. If it becomes accessible, back up your data immediately to prevent further risk. If these steps don’t work, professional data recovery services may be necessary.

    I found my old CF card and it isn't readable by PC. When I connect it - nothing happens, the card isn't displayed among the drives. I wonder are there any fixes for this?

      Try using a different card reader or USB port, or test it on another device. Check "Disk Management" to see if the card shows up there, even if it doesn't appear in Windows Explorer. If it’s detected but inaccessible, use recovery software like Disk Drill to scan it. If the card remains undetected, it could be physically damaged, and professional recovery services may be needed.

    How Disk Drill deals with stuff like Canon RAW and Blackmagic RAW when recovering from CF cards? Is it the same for all file systems or what? Also, I heard something about file signatures?? How does file system vs file type impact recovery anyway?

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  4 месяца назад

      Disk Drill identifies Canon RAW and Blackmagic RAW files based on unique file signatures, allowing recovery even if the file system is damaged. File signatures are patterns in file headers that help the software detect specific file types. If the file system is intact, Disk Drill uses its metadata to recover files with their original names and structure. However, if the file system is corrupted, it relies on a "deep scan" to locate files based on signatures, potentially resulting in generic file names. The recovery process is more influenced by the condition of the file system than the file type. Whether the file system is damaged or not, Disk Drill is designed to recover RAW files from CF cards effectively.

    Is it by any chance possible to recover the files after I mistakenly formatted my CFexpress card inside the camera?

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  4 месяца назад

      Sure. You can download Disk Drill Basic version and run a scan on your CF card to see if the lost data is still accessible: www.cleverfiles.com/getdiskdrill

      Right-click on the Hardware disk section in the Disk Drill drives list and use the "Remount the volume in read/write mode" option

    Hi, do the different codecs of my video files affect the recovery process in Disk Drill when restoring them from my formatted Compact Flash card? For example, I had video files with HEVC or H.264 codecs from my Canon EOS R5 before formatting. 😓

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  4 месяца назад

      The codecs of your video files, like HEVC or H.264, don't directly affect the recovery process in Disk Drill. Recovery software focuses on identifying file signatures (such as MP4 or MOV), not the codec used for encoding. If the files are successfully recovered, they will retain their original codec. Issues like fragmentation or overwriting after formatting are more likely to impact recovery success. Make sure to fully preview your files before recovery.
