This wonderful woman with such an ultra patriarchal essence.. who was a Mother to us all.. who taught us all- Was not a Mother in real life. Wow! Maybe that’s how she was able to give us so much. So many cultural, spiritual, societal and inner city life lessons were taught to us by this one soul. Her contributions really couldn’t be measured back then but we knew she was important.. she was clearly special and a gift. It’s somewhat mysterious that she was missing two important things yet she forged ahead. No children.. and the other thing was equally perplexing, yet I still insist that the mysterious, gradual disappearance of Florida Evan’s neck has never truly been properly investigated.😅✌🏽
She was 1 of the most powerful...... gifted.... Strong actress!! I Loved her on "driving miss Daisy". Her scene's with Morgan Freeman was phenomenal! And how awesome..... brilliant she was AS Florida Evan s!!!
I liked Esther Rolle as a person, but I didn't like her getting herself involved in that Physic Line bs back in the day. That all was just about people stealing desperate people's money, and I wouldn't have thought that she'd ever get involved in something like that.
Really shocked about Jimmy Walker not being there for her in the end. She's the reason the show that put him on the map even existed. Despite their differences he could have shown some respect fro her...
Jimmy Walker is a real A-hole. He’s rude as hell and doesn’t treat anyone right. He lived in NC when I knew him. Him not showing up for Ester had little to do with her. He owns that scar.
@@BetterMe981 she quit the show rather than be around him. Just like Aunt Viv got fired from the "Fresh Prince" or Harriet Winslow has to quit "Family Matters" during the last season.
I didn't like the first season of GOOD TIMES she was doing too much with the Bible N God. They didn't too much of that later in the show. This was a great show N I still watch it ❤
I did not like it when she was mad about them having a black Jesus on their wall. I'm a Buddhist but I still didn't like that at all. It was bringing them luck. I also didn't like when she made James return that money to the police station. They were subtly hinting that they lived in CABRINI GREEN but Florida wanted to be too damn honest in that situation💜
So interesting that she stood her ground for having a father in the home! I have such respect for her insistence to have a husband. Why did Norman Lear discourage this?
It’s true! You could never make the correlation from Florida and her husband Henry living upstate New York working for Maude Finley to living in the Chicago projects with husband James.😮😮
She shined bright like a Diamond when she was on this Earth.
Good Times was NEVER the same after John Amos"s character was killed off.
She emphasized a father in the show Good Times.
Thank you standing on your principles.
Esther Rolle was definitely one of the trailblazers for Black's in Television.
Yes she was a beautiful person ❤
LEGENDARY

I enjoyed Ester Rolle in (A Raisin In The Sun) along with Danny Glover two great actors....
Damn, damn, DAMN!!!!
😂😂😂😂
Way back then they were conditioning us to have no FATHERS in the house!
Really shocked about Jimmy Walker not being there for her in the end. She's the reason the show that put him on the map even existed. Despite their differences he could have shown some respect fro her...
Why lie
They hated each other

She did not hate him, or anyone else. This was all him.

We love you so much, queen.
I had the opportunity to meet Ms Role during my Thelma audition. I found her to be very friendly and approachable.
No eay,yiu eas going to get part over Bernadette.
@claudiadavis2583 ...Thelma audition? Thats great tell me more. So who else was there, and how many Thelma's?
God damn I didn't know she was a real dancer

She had a hell of a voice.
Today's 📺 shows are goat 🐐 tripe😂
Everyone can see that jj doesn't stand on any principles in real life..

Good Times wasn't an actual spinoff of Maude. It's basically set on a parallel earth.
👨🏻🦱Good way to put it!👍🏻
It’s true! You could never make the correlation from Florida and her husband Henry living upstate New York working for Maude Finley to living in the Chicago projects with husband James.😮😮
@@pagandeva2000 That IS a stretch! I didn't realize Maude was in upstate New York! Well there you are then! "Case in Point"👍🏻😎
I disagree Good Times is a spin off of Maude the tv show Family Matters did a similar thing with Perfect Strangers too.
@@louisb5563Tuckahoe, NY. And Maude was a spin off from All In The Family. She was Edith’s cousin. I LOVED when Maude would argue with Archie 😂😂
Why did her and her husband looked like siblings?😳
John Amos went back to lear remember that it I was ashame.

Janet will be Esther's age when they first worked together on Good Times in May. The oldest actor on the show! 😮😅
Jj Evans was only 7 or 8 years younger than James Evan's I'm not sure how old Florida was but I think they was bullying JJ
