  • I think for me, being off of ADHD medication is going to be a TEMPORARY thing. I have had to stop taking my medication for the last couple of months. It has been weird.
    Today I'm talking about the symptoms I have noticed since stopping medication, and my experience of starting to take stimulants again.
    Do you relate to any of these experiences?

    I have never took meds for ADHD, but all my kids are diagnosed and are being treated..and EVERYTHING you’re saying about your brain is true of mine. 🤦
    I have an appointment w/ a psychiatrist in May, wish me luck. Thank you for your content.

    You make perfect sense to me. All of it. It’s like watching someone articulate all the stuff that’s going on in my head much better than I could. And to know I’m not alone is so valuable to me.
    I’m 60 and waiting for an official assessment/diagnosis,so i view this from the perspective of someone who has never known the alternative.
    I’ve had the shame of being an ‘idiot’ all my life, and while I understand the feeling that part of getting better is feeling that you don’t need meds, at least for antidepressants/anxiety, because that’s more of a transient state (if that is indeed what you’re suffering from and not a symptom of a more permanent condition and circumstance), while ADHD is something permanent, so I’m looking forward to the opportunity of having a better life for what’s left of it, and while I don’t expect all sweetness and light ahead of me, I have hope of finding a more happy and peaceful and normal state.
    Be assured that this sharing you're doing helps. 😊

    6:00 this makes PERFECT sense and I am so glad to hear someone else articulate it, it is very reassuring, and helping me realise that this mechanism applies to many other areas aswell, such as relationships of any sort

    im sorry that you're going through this! just a quick reality check about guilt though: ADHD literally involves chemical dysregulation (dopamine and norepinephrine) and *judging yourself for not being able to regulate those chemicals without meds is about as wacky as shaming a diabetic for not being able to regulate their blood sugar spikes without insulin*

    Thank you for the video. Really appreciate the insight as I'm going into being on meds after 22 years of self loathing and being confused. I'm excited and seeing other people's experience with medication gives me hope. I'm curious how the meds might affect my anxiety though.

    About anxiety with meds, i recommend eating some lemon if its really bad, then the drug wears off very quickkly, hope this helps!

    So so interesting, what you say about procrastination. My question would be - when you take meds, you procrastinate less, yes, right - but can you still be creative and come up with original solutions / ideas for upcoming tasks / questions ? Or is it more like *"Ok, I take my meds and now I can do anything that needs to be done, but my mind is dry, I can do math and boring tasks, but nothing creative"* So, which is it ?

    • @tillyzarrella
      @tillyzarrella  Месяц назад +1

      For me I didn't find it affecting my creativity, I still felt like the same person just slightly muted if that makes sense?
