I Started ADHD Medication… For the SECOND Time
7 days, one week since I've started taking ADHD stimulant medication. Again.
I think this is a long time coming, and I do believe that as I continue to adjust to the medication then it will become more helpful. But I also think it's really worth talking about the downsides, symptoms and side effects that can arise from taking it.
It is a scary process, but if you're reading this, I hope you know you're a tough chicken! You've got this.
You deserve to take care of yourself, inside and out.

    I work for a 60 year old who is in better shape than the majority of the 30 year olds I know. He is a mechanic and a very active farmer. Not a day passes where he doesn't do some kind of physical labor. He doesn't need to, he just wants to.

    Spot on. Pushing 80 years, strength training since 14 - mostly at home. In past 50 years lost less than 5% muscle mass c/f about 50%. In past 60 years hospital twice orthopaedic plus once malaria, no meds, BP 120/75 resting pulse 68. Workout 3 x week heavy compound 2x48kg kettlebells farmers carry 30 metres and deadlifts, 65 kg sandbag carries and squats, shoulder press 25kg sandbag 35kg. I supplement with overcoming isometrics - great strength builder plus strong brain/muscle conditioning. Not a big deal - a 70 year old at Australian Institute of Sport deadlifts 1RM 200kg and a 90+ y.o. man on RUclips 110kg started in his 80s - with top quality trainer. I also can't resist "evangelizing" strength training, including couriers and removalists struggling to lift equipment, my family, an Irish landlord in AIrBNB and quite recently a young Australian customs officer who was interested in my Iron Edge monster power bands and iso-strap.

    Adhd brain? So just.. adhd?

    • @momonomay3011
      @momonomay3011 20 дней назад

      yes but it’s not incorrect to say adhd brain. it’s actually really common for ppl with adhd to think of their adhd as another person as their brain. you talk to it like it’s personified and it feels less like you are the adhd and that it’s more of a little menace in your head. not everyone of course, but this phrasing is a really simple example of that. a lot of people express online they feel like this though, i’m just speaking for myself and sharing perspective

    Thanks for your video  Struggling for years with almost all the ADHD medications out there, this it what’s helping me the last years. It’s a text I’ve got from somebody on Reddit and I followed it completely and it miracelously helped me so much in combination with the ADHD med. I currently take Dexamphetamine, but I solve it in water and take from time to time a small zipp, or bigger zzzips, depending on the day; So on top of this, or better, underlying the dex, as a support system, here is the text: “use agmatine, an nmda receptor Antagonist to Prevent tolerance and neurotoxicity. use magnesium-l-threonate to do the same and calm the nervous System. use mitochondrial supporting nutrient such as l-carnitine-Fumarate, ubiquinol and use active b-Vitamins, methylcobalamine, p-5-p, methylfolate. if you can afford These then your stimulant will work better, you will Need less, have no side effects and improve your Energy and Health massively, reduce aging, regnerate nerves (!!!), fight Depression, improve Sleep, Prevent Diabetes, reduce pain and that is only a Little bit…and those effects match and exceed those of pharmaceuticals, do not consider These substances normal Supplements, they have profound effects on the nervous System and mitochondria.” I use all of these supplements, except for Agmatine, it works for me, of course we are all different.

    Hey throwing my two cents for the younger people on the audience. ADHD medication can often hinder your physical development in your growing stages (up to 21 years of age). And if you lack a routine, exercise, sleep schedule, and a balance nutrition, it’s more likely due to harm than good. I know it’s a struggle, but I am so glad I didn’t take it until now that am an adult, since I know I won’t think I need it to function (cuz I managed without it) and I know my health won’t be compromise, because of my good habits and routines. Please don’t insist on medication, until you have exhausted you lifestyle regulation avenues.

    im sorry that you're going through this! just a quick reality check about guilt though: ADHD literally involves chemical dysregulation (dopamine and norepinephrine) and *judging yourself for not being able to regulate those chemicals without meds is about as wacky as shaming a diabetic for not being able to regulate their blood sugar spikes without insulin*
