I think what Josh meant to say at the beginning was that due to the exposure of the abusive practices by many of the patient's care takers, the paractice of institutionalizing the mentally and in some cases physically challenged was determined to be not only unnecessary but also dehumanizing. In many cases, parents were encouraged by doctors to put their children into places like this, without realizing that although they had physical challenges their mental capacity was normal. Many of these people were essentially trapped within their bodies, unable to communicate their intellegence and suffering to those around them. Tragic... Thank God we (at least in the US) now know better.

Hey, Josh. The item you identified as "their projector" that projected onto the screen, is in fact an old audio tape recorder. Originally, before cassettes, audio tape was on large reels. Cassettes came along and were more convenient and portable. Now we have mp3 players , iPods and cell phones to store our tunes on. Just thought you'd like to know.

I am really enjoying your videos, however I think you could spend a little more time on the editing of your videos. The whole montage you got going with the music and all of that is good, however when you just cut to black and stop the music at the same time, it comes of as a little sloppy. Instead, try and fade to black and fade the music at the same time, it would up your production value a ton. Other than that, just keep up the good work and I am looking forward to watching you explore more abandoned places.

Josh, you should do a livestream of these places so we can see the full places! I don't know exactly how you could livestream but it would be amazing! Also wanted to say to continue doing what you love because these places and their history is just breathtaking!

Omggggggggggg those Hobart ovens are worth thousands and probably still usable! Worth more than any piano you'd find. I'm always amazed how much kitchen stuff is left behind, they're probably the most expensive items on the property.

Imagine all the suffering which went on for decades in that building, all the fear, phobia, anxiety, restlessness, hysterical neurosis, frenzy, delirium, rage, apathy, lunacy, schizophrenia... not to mention all the tons of really heavy medication: tranquilizers, anti-psychotic drugs, antidepressants etc. In all likelihood they even lobotomized patients there... Places like this can be very eerie to sensitive, intuitive people. Interesting video!

It is true, but as far as i know, there isn't a door to get inside, so it is an adventure to go inside plus the walls are full of things written, and to be more creepy, it can be at night.

If the tunnel slopes down many asylums had those tunnels that they would slide dead down to the morgue. I am surprised the company would leave the big safe behind. Those were very expensive. My grandmother worked there and she could tell you some crazy shit. I went in the building and i saw the tunnels with clothes and signs. You stumbled upon the waiting room/front lobby.
