Man what an awesome 9 mile trip man. Had the river all to yourself & no interruptions at all too. I'm sorry to hear about breakfast was a lil bit of a problem but still turned out well. All 6th of my boys , granddaughter , & me like the Mountain House sausage and biscuits. That's our breakfast on every kayak camping trip we go on & it's on our trip this weekend too. Me & my family are doing a 30 mile kayak camping trip with friends & family. I am really really exotic because my lil brother just moved back home from Texas and he's never been kayaking or kayak camping before & I hope he really enjoys it and buy himself a kayak & enjoying the family. It's funny calling him my lil brother because he is almost bigger than me. My 3th son John said that funny how you & me get Barefooted 👣 when we get in the kayak or canoe. Sometimes i am leaving my house barefooted 👣 & do the kayaking trip and come back home barefooted 👣from doing the kayak trip. Dan if you got out on the water this weekend please be safe out there & happy holidays to you and your family and be safe out there.
@@SouthernPaddler Oh yes Dan we had a blast man. It actually turned out to be 40 Mi we did. My lil brother had a blast with us. He actually slammed a couple times but he was happy about it cuz it's cool him down from being hot. He also found out real fast how you can lose your flip flops really fast when kayaking with them on. I had to chase his flip flops a couple of times so I let him use my flip flop lease until we was done kayaking and I put mines inside my kayak. We had one small emergency my 4th son Mark went down a rapid and the rapid threw my son up against a sharp Rock really fast and cut him on his leg. We had to stop and clean the cut as best as we could and wrap it up as best as we could. I think we're going to have to take him to the doctor's tomorrow cuz it's swollen up and look infected. It was my little brother's first time kayaking and kayak camping and he really loved it and now he wants to buy a kayak and ask him could I help him buy a kayak so he can join us on the adventures. Man I'm so excited my brother said that was the best fun he has had in 2 years. I told him that's what it's all about getting back together and having fun again. My little brother was so excited & I told him I wanted him to stay with me until he was able to find his own place cuz I didn't want him to pay for a hotel until he finds his place. I am so glad that my brother transferred back home with his job from Texas. Hope you and your family had a nice holiday.
That last couple miles from Shiloh Bridge is the best part in my opinion. I think we may do the Shiloh to Dickey Bridge next time. Great video! I was waiting for you to carve a spoon out of that stick.😆
Lol- I was just lucky I brought a slightly "runny" breakfast as opposed to their Breakfast Skillet...scrambled eggs wouldn't have poured that easily....lol!!
Nice looking float. Enjoyed the breakfast stop part, good improvise on the cuttery lol. One of my favorite parts of floating the outdoors is food, it just taste different.
Hi and thanks, Southern Paddler for sharing. "9 miles" in one day!!! Interesting to know how you keep your glasses...2:05 Wow...it must be very nice and peaceful...you enjoy the tranquility all to yourself...10:21 That's a calm and enjoyable kayaking trip. Well done. 🙋♀🙋♀🛶🛶
Thank you very much! Yes, I commonly have folks remind me that my glasses are on the back of my shirt. It keeps them handy and out of the way. It was a fun trip!!
Dan got some BIG ol' Arms 😳 Got to get a trip to the Elk in sometime. Gonna try to do Section II of the Chattooga just one more time. It is beautiful up there.
I would probably just stop at get some Jacks on the way 😂. That Mountain House is ok when you been in the woods for a couple days but Jack's is by far better lol
Sometimes these day trips end to soon, so stopping for coffee or a meal helps extend the fun! :-) I'm in my Old Town Saranac 160 (16ft). I really love this boat and how it handles (and the built-in seat backs are a must for me).
@@SouthernPaddler I completely understand the need for seat backs. I figured it was an Old town but would have thought it was much shorter. Sooner or later I'll probably see you on the water!
Thank you very much! Yes, I love this chair. I don't think it comes with the "sand feet" (wide plastic feet to keep it from sinking), but I recommend those. I'll try to include the link from Amazon: a.co/eBxXEOR
Omg love this
Thank you very much! This was a very relaxing and peaceful trip!
This is my kind of trip! Quiet, hardly any people, flat water, shade trees- so peaceful and relaxing.
Thank you, Glenna! Yes, this was a beautiful and peaceful trip!! :-)
Another great trip, Dan. It looks so peaceful.
Thanks, John! Yes, a nice and easy trip!!

Thank you and agreed!! Something about meals outdoors (especially around a fire) are just different (and better)!!

Lol- well, just got to keep paddling! The section below Tims Ford Dam down to ERCR is my favorite part of the Elk.
That’s a pretty stretch of river. I did that same float last summer in about 3 hours. I want to do one of their overnight trips!
Yes it is. I'm definitely looking forward to going back to try some of their overnight trips, too!!

Ha, ha, ha!! Yes, I cannot argue that Jack's is better...and I've done that, too. :-D
Breakfast was a great idea. We have been talking about trying something like that in the kayaks. What canoe / how long is that?
