    Sylvania is gorgeous. Fyi drone are prohibited in wilderness areas

    • @AtlasAdventures
      @AtlasAdventures  9 месяцев назад +1

      Oh dang I did not know that! Thanks. I knew national shorelines and parks you can’t. I will say I (and probably the other campers and wildlife) prefer a random drone sound over the hours of bumping music from the camp next to me 🤣

      @@AtlasAdventures the two rangers in Sylvania are very chill, good guys. Don't want you to get in trouble elsewhere. Thumping music does suck in the wilderness. Safe travels

    Sorry, I am on Atlas's side on the kayak launch out into the lake. With that steep bank you could have held the kayak while she jumped out. Anyway, little water never hurt a kayaker, LOL. Wonderful trip. I truly enjoyed it. :)

    I live in this area and I am getting more into the outdoors. I joined my local search and rescue team and the first time I really was in the Sylvania was for a search call last summer. I plan to do some day trips and maybe a night trip this summer. Awesome videos man.

    Well this was a very interesting video. The canoe looked light but I could tell it was starting to get heavy. What amazes me is how Atlas fit so perfect on the back every time you finished a portage!
    Excellent scenery! How you handled 5 of them was awesome. I like your quick meals and that was a cool hammock! Thanks again for taking us along on your adventures! Definitely don't think I could do some of the ones you go on but you are giving me alot of ideas on what to take along. Still looking for you put a paypal or patreon up. Anyway keep up the adventures!

    Just found your channel. This Sylvania loop is a great paddle/portage trip, I know it well. I can appreciate your effort on filming those portages with all that you carried through. I am curious about the camera/s you used on this trip? You captured some really great images, representing much of the color and theatrical quality that exists in Sylvania. Good On Ya! 🤠

    Being from MI, I'd never heard of this area. I just recently began doing some kayak camping. I live in CO, but travel to MI a couple of times a year to visit family. This area is going on my list of places to kayak and camp. I have an ORU, a 20lbs folding kayak that may be easier to carry on the portages, especially for an old(er) woman like myself. lol Care to share which campsites you liked or would recommend?

    • @AtlasAdventures
      @AtlasAdventures  2 года назад +3

      I would love to take my kayak to CO! Been just never with a kayak. ORUs are great if you’re not taking a dog!
      i’ve only been to these two sites, Fox-1 and Raccoon. I think all the sites/fire pits are about 300 ft from the water. Raccoon was a nice spot but both fox 1&2 had a rough launching area. Mucky and downed trees

    Quick question, how are you keeping the meat chilled from day to day?

    • @AtlasAdventures
      @AtlasAdventures  Год назад +1

      Thank you! I took a very small soft lunchbox size cooler and froze the meats beforehand, so that was enough to keep them cold through the second day but on a longer trip I wouldn’t be able to go past day 2 with cold food without more cooler space

    I am a new subscriber and I can't get enough of your adventures! One question: what is your best way of fighting off all the mosquitoes and black flies other than the bug net, like when you are out on the kayak or hiking through the woods, either spray or net clothing?

    • @AtlasAdventures
      @AtlasAdventures  Год назад +1

      I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos :) I use odorless permethrin by Sawyer, should be able to get it at most outdoor stores. It’s military grade bug repellent you spray onto your clothes once they are hanging outside and then leave them to dry. After that those clothes should stay repellent for six months or six washes.
