Makes you wonder how does Shepard know how to use combine technology, i don't think that your average grunts recieve training on "how to use Alien stuff". so i imagine Shepard smacking all the buttons until something happends

There is also another very old Opposing Force 2 mod for HL2 released during the earlier days of HL2 called Awakening. It's a fun mod and well-made, even though the voice acting is questionable. But it was a nice play!

probably cause PCV has a hardware that brute force any power charge into its own system sounds like good for survivability but probably hazardous if overcharged
Would be very awesome if Shepard went his ordeal on the seven hour war. He could be able to explain what happened to the remnants of the Xen that invaded the earth, like fighting the remnants of what's left of the Black Mesa disaster, doing the clean up. During that, he could meet Dr. Breen who we would encounter every so often in the game and when he argues with Eli and Kleiner or whatever, surrenders humanity, ending the war. It would make sense for the two to meet since Breen also knows G-Man, it's a very subtle hint near the end of HL2, but enough to know that Breen knows G-Man. It would open a whole new layer to his character. It should also kill Shepard once he's done his job because there's really nothing else for him to do, he's a marine after all. What's he gonna do during the events of HL2 and it's episodes? There's no plot for him to take a part in. I personally think this is the best course for him and to send a genuine very well made goodbye to the Opposing Force side of things.

Urban Chaos looks cool but the story itself... That doesn't really make sense. I know I do believe that Race X was a preliminary invasion Force for the Combine's attack, with their entrance being simply widening the wound with the Gene Worm's true purpose to provide ample mutilation to the barrier between universes to allow the true masters to gain the world. But like Eve of the Seven Hour War would mean its before the Seven Hour War so Alien Combine Soldiers would have came through likely using some kind of ships that would cause the damage to leave doubt about some aspects that you see in the newspaper scraps and things like that in Alyx and HL2, because they believe the US is gone, a wasteland, so that is likely the epicenter of where the Combine entered and where the world basically got burned to ash. Having a Citadel structure being set up before the Seven Hour War just seems silly to me as it would contradict with the ideas about the damage. I mean when its released, I will likely play it but I ultimately do not see it working with how I see the Half-life canon tbh.

I don't understand why you haven't mentioned half life awakening at all :(. It's a very serviceable opposing force sequel in a very early time of episode 2 modding.
This probably doesn’t make much sense but I think a p.c.v suit would be more advanced then the h.e.v suit as it was a military suit along with h.e.c.u being a special forces group and as the g-man kept shepherd for potentially a later task he may have upgraded the suit to work on combine tech but that’s just my opinion
4:55 the HEV suit probably was only built specifically to interface with its own proprietary charging station, while the PCV was built to accept any battery of charger. (edit: fixed spelling mistake)
it was built to accept any _human made_ battery charger, though with that in mind i feel the PCV could be modified to use combine power stations much easier than the HEV suit
I feel like Andrian Shephard was Gmans original candidate to work for him, and G-man noticed Gordon Freeman just by time, we have seen G-man at the start of Decay to, and i'm not shure about Blue Shift right now, so maybe G-man noticed Gordon later. But i think G-man is one of the Xen's native species, and the Xen was invaded by Vortigaunts (under control by Nihilanth) and the Race X aliens. So G-man and his specie got defeated by the Vortigaunts, because the vortigaunts have similar powers to the G-man (We have seen in Half Life 2: Episode One). And G-man and his specie decided to make the Black Mesa incident to get their planet back, this part of my theory confirms G-mans words at the end of Half Life "the Borderworld of Xen is in our control now, thanks to you Gordon Freeman", the HECU had bigger guns than the Alien Invaders, so they saw that the HECU and other humans forces can literally wipe out the Race X, and the Vortigaunts or the other alien races that came to Black Mesa when the incident happened. And G-man's plan was succesfull, the main candidate wiped out one of the Race X's leaders (I don't know what that could be if that's not their leader or something like that), and the second candidate wiped out Nihilanth, a lot of Alien invaders, and some HECU soldiers. And they said, these guys are strong, we should get them to fight against the combine forces. G-man don't needed Barney and the main characters of the Decay because Gordon's and Andrians achievement was hightly bigger than theirs. So what do you think does this make sense?
Opposing force 2 is flawed regarding lore right off the bat, since citadels didn't exist before or during the 7 hour war, only after they were made to control REMAINING cities.
im still not clear on timeline canon, cuz as of Ep2 the lore was that the portal storms were what forced the remainder of humanity into fortified cities, and THEN some years (?) later the Seven Hour war happened.
Can someone explain to me, why would the soldiers be preparing for the resonance cascade before it actually happened? It wasn't a planned event by the government I don't think so why would the soldiers plan for it.
I think it was the fact that it was POSSIBLE but unlikely. If I recall, it was mentioned very early in the game, and the fact that the scientists already had a name for it during the event suggests that they knew there was a small, unlikely but yet still very real chance of it happening. Which would make sense for the people who funded the black mesa research facility to brace for it.
G-Man was talking to the general in the training of HL:OF, so I'm pretty much convinced that he told the general to prepare for "unforeseen consequences"
The way I interpreted it in this video is that G-Man let the army general know beforehand, because G-Man seems to have known the Resonance Cascade was going to happen (and most likely caused it). This is just a theory though of course at the end of the day :)

Another small addition is that they do use the wrench but it is a remodel but I may be wrong. They also replace the .357 with the Desert Eagle
