One of the few times in my life that I am at a loss for words 🦁
In the game, when you reach the highest style ranking (SSS) with Dante, the song goes to the "YOU CANNOT KILL ME" part.

Yeah, SSS is “feel the devil in me”
SSS screams let me out and hellbound.
People in the fan base may have problems with the connection between Dante and his theme but imo I liked that the theme was more demonic and emo. It showcased how he may be this comedic badass on the outside but still has his demons.
yeah i dont think this style of music is for everyone either but the lyrics clearly link to Dante
Where do you get emo from? It's all uplifting. This isn't much different from his previous themes.
This song always motivates me and squishes one more rep out of my ass during workout.
So 2 things. This is the 2nd version of this song, and its the in-game mix of the song. The original had a different vocalist (which didn't sound too good) and the album versions sound a bit more structured.
Man, you gotta react to Shall Never Surrender. It’s Nero’s original theme and it’s great!

You should check out Devils Never Cry! I feel like if you want a good mix of Dante and Vergil! It's the theme for DMC3 and for me it's the theme I think about for DMC in general
A song that was straight up Old Heavy Metal would have fitted Dante a little bit more. At first I didnt like it, but after sitting in my playlist I heard it enough that I actually like it today
The issue with using old school heavy metal is that it wouldn't match with the game's atmosphere at all. DMC 5 (and DMC in general) has a very gritty feel with lots of gory, Lovecraftian imagery. Can't really compliment that with old school heavy metal. Not enough intensity.

You should check out the Guilty Gear Strive OST. Just pick the coolest looking character and listen to their theme, all of the tracks are sick
Zato's theme, Let Me Carve Your Way, does some wild polyrhythmic shit though. That would be a cool one to do first.
You should listen to DMC5 OST "Crimson Cloud". It's better imo.

this song wasn't (and still isn't) received well in the fanbase, not only because of how niche its appeal is and how much the older version's vocals sucked and made the song sound even worse than it already is, but it just straight up didn't fit Dante. at this point in time Dante established himself as the funny "wacky woohoo pizza man" and in the 5th game, he basically looked like the coolest grandpa out there while still keeping his joking and fun loving nature intact. this angsty and edgelord type of metal felt ill-fitting for mainline Dante and it sounded like it was made for the moody, emo and rude version of him from the reboot (DmC Devil may Cry) which, looking at the song's description, might have actually been the case (since the song's description used the word foul-mouthed to describe Dante which doesn't make sense for mainline Dante since he never swore even once while reboot Dante's longest lasting legacy was trading the words "fuck you" back and forth with a demon).
I still stand on my opinion that the only people who doesn't like Subhuman are those who can't SSS and make it stay up.
@@fefega and I stand by the idea that Dante's theme in DMC5 should have been an 80s / 90s kind of metal song. Something along the lines of Iron Maiden or Metallica or Judas Priest or Megadeth.
This is still my favorite song from the OST. Bury the Light is a close second, but I've always preferred heavier music. Neros theme is complete ass. To much crappy pop influence for my taste.
@@SolusArmatura I’m in the same boat. I still like Devil Trigger but I LOVE the angry vocals and heavy sound that makes me wanna tear a demon’s heart from its chest
