Dude great reaction you have to play the games or watch the LPs cuz the song is literally Vergil's life. Also yes I know about Night Wish I am happily surprised someone else appreciate them too. "End of all Hope" is my fav,, it's what got me into them. What's yours? Edit: One more thing check out Devils Never Cry from DMC 3 I promise you won't be disappointed.
"Vergil hires Vergil's brother and Vergil's son to kill Vergil so that Vergil could become Vergil. (feat. Vergil)" - Max0r Not even kidding when say this is LITERALLY the plot of DMC5. It's hilarious and I'm all for it.
Context people! Context! Vergil is a Half Demon Half Human that is dying in DMC5 in order to maintain himself alive he divided his two sides. When his human side came to his senses he realized how much of an asshole he was so he named himself V as a codename and then hired Dante (Vergil's Brother) and after that Nero (Vergil's Son) because they are demon hunters, and told them to defest His own Demon Side which he himself called him Urizen. After Urizen is defeated V fused again with Urizen, and Vergil got revived with full power because Urizen got a shitton of power and vitality while they were separated
Or on the opposite end: Dante's brother hires Dante and Dante's nephew to kill Dante's brother so Dante's brother could become himself (feat. Dante's brother)
Game designers sometimes employ a technique in video game osts where the soundtrack reacts to the player in certain ways. At its simplest it can be the music being muffled when you go underwater at its extremes (like here) the song is written with the intention to ramp up when the game does. It's not static either the programmers have to make it so the song transitions to the appropriate section of the song on beat, with no jarring cut offs and all based on the player's performance.
@@AmariLeone here's the breakdown of how the ranking affects the song, depending on how you are styling on the enemies the song changes ruclips.net/video/nLnzGgMkds4/видео.html
According to Casey, the composer, the last section of the song was a personal vendetta for him. Vergil as a character means a lot to him personally, so he felt like he had to portray the character the best way he could in that finale. His sadness, loneliness, trauma, desperation for power, all of that is laid bare in that section.
@@CreepyHandedMan Obsession would have been a better description. Casey was so deeply invested in the character and knew this might be Vergil's last time "on stage", so he NEEDED a theme to hit his character home so hard that he'd become memorable. I'd say it was a blasting success.
@@Drago_012 Yup. It's hard to encapsulate a character wishing to discard his remaining humanity in musical form, and yet Casey absolutely delivered on it.
I heard that part and was like "Damn there's a lot of negative emotions here." I even made a little drawing based on the desperation and energy I could feel being admitted from this one part alone
This has to be one of the best songs I have EVER heard, my friend recommended it to me about a month ago and I'm still listening to this multiple times a day, for me it never gets boring even with the length of this song, it is it's strength, from beginning to end all sections individually sound so good that it doesn’t get boring. Now I’ve been looking at a few other “reactors” and came across this you might enjoy this ruclips.net/video/5NU8vH39BoU/видео.html it's a short interview with Casey Edwards about this song and how it all came to be, that being said I love this reaction keep it up
10:42 The in-game theme isn’t 9 minutes, how it works is that the song will start when you get into a fight and it will start playing different parts of the song based on your current style ranking of D to SSS. For example, having an S style rank will play the “I am the storm that is approaching” or “Forsakened, I am awakened” part. They did that also with the other 3 battle themes
@@AmariLeone I think it's just based on a certain battle and the calmer parts of the song plays depending on your style rank d is the calmest and non impactful part whereas s plays the best and most impactful moments of the music Edit: playing as Vergil plays the song in all battles even small ones
So depending on how stylish you're doing in the fights the song changes dynamically. You're doing really good and completely destroying everything stylishly? You're Style rank increases and the music changes to the most hype parts. You're doing bad, getting hit, running away, not attacking or repeating attacks? That's not stylish so your style rank goes lower and the music dynamically changes to the not so hype parts of the song. It's a incentive/reward for fighting with style. You do cool stuff so the song adapts.
@@AmariLeone its based on how you do during the current battle. here's bury the light, but segmented into the parts that the game plays while you have a certain rank, it just loops that part of the song until you hit the next rank, then it plays a small transition and starts the next segment. ruclips.net/video/az3qwXf4Z-I/видео.html Also, if you're good enough with Vergil, you can pull off shit like this ruclips.net/video/GEZON93hV-s/видео.html&ab_channel=SunhiLegend
@@AmariLeone The official song is like a special treat and fuller, like getting into the feelings and emotions, mostly for the character but can be experienced for yourself which Devil May Cry is about family, emotion and humanity, it's not just about edge, slaying evil and horrific demons.
Great video, love seeing people react to this masterpiece of a theme. To answer some of your questions (in chronological order as I'm watching the video): Special Edition is simply a version of the game that came out after the main game did for the PS5 and XBSX. It was the first to feature Vergil, the character whom this theme belongs to. However, Vergil (and obviously his theme) can also be bought for the main game, so you don't need the SE to experience them. Bury the Light is a battle theme, which means it plays in combat arenas where you fight basic enemies (or at least most of them, as there are a few that play ambiance music instead). It is Vergil's theme by default, but you can use it on any character you want. The version of the song used in the game is shorter than this one, but it doesn't work as you may think it does. Devil May Cry has a mechanic we call "Style Meter". It's basically a ranking system that starts from D and goes all the way to SSS and increases or decreases based on your actions during a combat encounter. If you do varied combos in quick succession, it increases. If you get hit, spam or are too slow, it decreases. The way the music fits in is that depending on your current rank, different parts of the song play. From D-B, the verses and everything else in between are what you hear. On A rank, you get drums and synths starting to build up and finally once you hit S rank and above, the chorus drops. This is how all 4 main battle themes of DMC5 work. And "Special Edition", like I mentioned above, is simply a version of the game that the song was introduced in. It has nothing to do with the song itself. Vergil wasn't in the anime so it's no surprise you don't remember him. He's Dante's twin brother and is indeed the antagonist of both DMC3 and DMC5. As for the line "I am the storm that is approaching", it's a nod to DMC3 where another character says that phrase word for word. Victor is indeed the singer and the reason Casey picked him as the vocalist was because he wanted someone who could perform all these different styles you're talking about. In the "Beyond the Tree" section there are indeed the deeper vocals in the background. As for what they're saying, it's the exact same lines from the previous section. So when you hear "Beyond the Tree", what's sung in the background is "Lurking in the shadows under veil of night". Good ear by the way. Fun fact: The last part of the song before the outro (the "Bury the light deep within" one) uses the same melody as another song that Casey wrote which is called "Devil Trigger". DT is Nero's battle them and Nero is Vergil's son. So this was Casey's way of "connecting" the themes of the son and the father.
I love this song so much and I always hear that the DT melody part is used but I feel like my ears just can’t pick it up, what instrument or like sound plays the DT melody? My ears wanna pick it up but I haven’t been able to ;-;
@@XNotsoSacredx The entire last part of the song is the DT melody but with a different arrangement. If you want to hear it clearly, look up "Bury the Light x Devil Trigger", where someone simply overlaid the vocals. If you don't want to do that, just start singing "Embrace the darkness that's within me" when "Bury the light deep within" is sung or during the fully instrumental portion of the same part. And to answer your question, it's an electric guitar.
@@AmariLeone It should be noted that in the finale another version of this song plays that is very similar to one you listend to, but the beginning starts with 'Bury the Light Deep within!' Then goes into the main song if you play Vergil's story mode anyways...though in the main story, it is an alternate to Devil Trigger called Silver bullet which starts with a nice violin section which suits Vergil very well.
@@zffrailgun1630 OH WOW I HEAR IT, I guess I never picked up on the cadence because of how high Victor is singing but I totally hear that melody now holy shit!!! Thanks for clarifying xD
Casey Edwards is male musical artist who is a huge fan of Devil May Cry and Vergil was his favorite character in the franchise, so he wrote The Bury The Light and did most of the music as well. Also Capcom told him not to use guitars including electric guitars while he was making this theme, but he still nailed Bury The Light, and this theme rocks!!! 🤘🎶 Also this theme is talks about Vergil and how much suffering he went through throughout the franchise if you played the games.
The more I listen to this song, the more impressed I am just by the mixing. It's so hard to get so many different things to sound so good and so clear. I don't know how else to describe it.
Nice reaction! I was just looking for more reactions lol. Also found it funny that the keyboard in the back is the exact same one I’ve owned since I was a kid.
Quick synopsis of the song. 1) special edition means its the special edition of the game which allowed you to play as Vergil 2) Vergil is Dante's brother and more or less an anti hero than a villain similar to a Vegeta from DBZ. Finally yes everytime Virgil fights this song plays but it's a modified version and depends on how long each fight takes.
Special edition is for the actual game it’s basically a expansion pack and sold as a whole game with Vergil added as a playable character and some story pieces for him
I've listened to the song many times, I came here for the output of someone in this musical field and that's precisely what I got. No worries about the pauses man, keep up the good stuff!
You know what you need to do next, you seen it, “Devil Trigger” is a complete contrast to “Bury the light” and I highly recommend you check that musical piece out next! Can’t wait to see your reaction to that!
Respect to a fellow Breaking "Benjerman" enjoyer! :3 Into The Nothing as been my personal power ballad for many years now, that song saved my life man!
I have played Devil May Cry since the launch on PS2. And I watch every person's reaction to this song. And I will continue to do both of those things. Also, great Breaking Benjamin comparison and thanks for reminding me about Nightwish.
The special edition of Devil May Cry games has become a tradition since the 3rd game, where the game is re-released with new content, and in that content is playable Vergil (Who normally is a boss) Yes, this is the song that plays when you enter a battle as Vergil. Also the game has dynamic music that keeps getting more hype the better you do in the game, so the "I AM THE STORM" part plays when you are doing good.
I think in a lot of ways this is Virgil's "I am" song if you think about it from a disney movie sense. It encapsulates vigils character. He's the main antagonist-ish, and he IS the storm that is approaching as far as the story is concerned. A lot of this is about virgil and his relationship with dante and their mother. In the later half of the song where its the ominous chanting about the tree burning and such I've heard it described as almost a ritualistic chanting to summon or herald virgils approach within the song and the game. The next part afterwards is virgils "arrival".
This song literally got me into DMC. I only just started watching someone play DMC 1, 2, 3 (currently watching 4) and planning on getting DMC 5 myself.
First time I’m seeing a video of yours, but got to respect a Breaking Benjamin enjoyer. 😎 I’d completely forgotten about this song until a few days ago, and it’s been on repeat ever since.
Had to come back after watching all the way through just to say: Nice video. I enjoyed the energy and commentary you brought with your reaction, that you were able to add to such an awesome song. 👍
11:15 The music in-game has a variable combat system so depending on how well you're doing in the game fighting enemies, the music will tone itself down or ramp up based on your performance.
Special edition due to being rereleased a year later with bonus stuff in the game, including vergil and his theme song. you can come to me for all the quesitons hehehe, but tldr is this is a ballad of vergils life
Yep, and the song is tagged under the Special Edition because it didn't exist in the original release of the game; it was created *for* the SE as Vergil's theme you battle to while playing as him.
The special edition is the version of the game ! This DLC , added this character on the screen to the playable characters ... He had a dark and sad past and also had some really good and bad defeats and rises ... This song is based on this characters life actually ... He is in pain , he rises , he defeats so bad ( listen at the almost end , the vocalist just speaks so tired and you can feel the pain ) , he rises again and thats it ! And also this music just plays whenever you are fighting as this character ... When battle starts , music kicks in !
I just found your channel through this man, I love seeing your reactions so far and it's awesome, love the analysis of my favorite song of all time. Keep up the good work man, I'm loving it.
Vergil is the final boss and also the latest playable character in dmc5 special edition its called special edition because of the addition of some playable character
Yes it he also playable in normal dmc 5. And him as dlc playable character for $5. And i got it on sale on playstation dmcv+vergil for $9.99 so it is a steal for me😁
Yeah this is a great break down of how the instruments play along. The special edition is the DLC or 'gold' version of the game where you get Vergil as a playable character after you beat the game. It unlocks his own song for his battle tracks, so the initial build is made for when demons are spawning into the arena, and depending on how well you play, not getting hit and chaining combos, it builds up a letter grade. The higher the grade, the more the song ramps up, which is why there's a couple sudden transitions for the tempo. To be cut and put together cleanly for that purpose. Hitting the second highest rank during a fight hits the chorus in full volume. There's also a special remixed version for his final boss, fighting his brother which makes the entire thing flow a bit more cleaner. The song explains his entire story through the game from his own mind set. So it's very self written.
Special Edition relates to Vergil being a playable character. He is the DLC to regular DMC5 and is automatically included into SE. This? This plays literally *every time* Vergil is in combat aside from boss fights, and it dynamically adapts to how much you're styling on the enemy. And yes, he's *technically* a villain, so his song being dark makes sense. Though it's a contrast since his intentions are dark but his combat style is very bright and flashy, with elements of pure light - Yamato leaves light traces to extend slashes, Beowulf is literally gauntlets of a light demon, and Mirage Edge is a hard light/demonic power sword
Virgil was a boss in previous Devil May Cry games but in DMC5 special edition he was a playable character. This is the music that plays when you're playing him and fighting and the music dynamically changes based off how well you're doing. It's fucking lit
This is the actual “single” version. I bought it myself thru iTunes. This basically describes Vergil’s lived experience and it’s effects on his motivation and personality. He’s the polar opposite of the lighter hearted , more human twin, Dante. Virgil and Dante’s life paths were separated by the events that caused the death of their mother at a very young age, and they developed differently as a result. Virgil pursues power because he wants to claim his throne in the demon world that was once his father’s. Dante doesn’t think that’s a good idea, so they always clash. And Virgil has a son, Nero, that he meets and fights during the game. This song, imo, is supposed to reflect his passion beneath his stringent self control. I’ve been bumping this on repeat for a couple weeks now, it’s a piece of art!
So the thing about Devil May Cry's music is that the Boss fights have their own music that plays. Any other time the character's boss (theme) music plays as you slaughter ranks of demonic cannon fodder. It's dynamic music that changes as your fighting becomes more Stylish and your progress from D to SSS. Rank S is when the chorus kicks in and stays as long as you have above S rank.
The way these songs are modified in game is that there is a ranking system from D-SSS rank, the unique thing is that the rank will only go up the cooler your ingame combos (series of attack is) and the song that play here correlate to the ranking. For example "i am the storm" starts at S rank or "bury the light deepwithin" which happens at SSS rank (the highest rank in the game). Basically the more that you are owning you're enemies the more cooler the music is if that makes any sense
good thoughts. don't apologize for pausing and commenting, that's the point of the video. if I wanna listen to the song uninterrupted, I'd just do that.
I had a friend ask me to listen to this song. I was definitely suspicious at first. But after listening to it in the gym, holy hell I got a 2nd round of preworkout. Song is so damn hard and one of the most complicated and well composed songs I’ve ever heard. Trying to combine all those things and make it work is CRAZY
if you like the metal/edm mix i have to recommend BFG Division by Mick Gordon. or pretty much a lot of his Doom arrangement like Rip and Tear, The Only One They Fear Is You, Meathook, etc. All these are also adaptive bgm based on the gameplay
Us Devil May Cry fans thought we would never see a sequel to our much loved and original series, DMC, especially after a bad reboot tried to take its place. Not only did OG DMC return triumphantly, it brought us so much love and passion for each of its iconic characters, including this track - one of the best songs I've personally listened to. Despite all the dark lyrics, it's basically a love note as well.
This song is Vergil’s character Literally the the title “bury the light” has meaning to vergils character along with every other vocal this song is vergil speaking basically every line applies to vergil In fact the song even has vergils character arc in it
*heavy spoilers* Vergil and Dante (main character in anime) are twin brothers. Long story short: Family gets attacked by demons for plot reasons, (human) mother is able to protect Dante but not Vergil (she dies before she reaches him) so he awakens demon half (demon father) and seeks power to protect himself as he thought mother abandoned him. the demons basically torture him trying to kill him as his demon half makes it so he's hard to kill so heavy trauma. His main line is "I need more power". They fight. A lot. This is more or less his redemption arc (or rather, a therapy session with fists, swords, and guns + oh sh** I have a son that literally punches some sense into the brothers) which is probably why you get these cool major sections from the vocals, but still a bad ass character who keeps his edge and one of the coolest and most iconic antagonist. Probably get a lot of complaints for the short version but think this gives enough context for the song. Apologies if someone beat me to the explanation. So, yeah. try listening to vocals with that context should give you an extra layer.
Airbuster theme ff7 remake if you want another long EPIC, EPIC headbanger game ost to react to. Just for a generic boss fight, but not a generic track.
I heard that it was that he couldn't use guitars for any other part than the chorus, and that's why the synth is used in a way that sounds similar to a guitar in every other part of the song.
Vergil is a playable character in this game. This song plays during every enemy encounter. The game employs a stylish ranking system, starting at rank D, then C, B, A, S, SS, and finally, SSS. At rank D the song employs very few sounds and no vocals, but as you increase your stylish ranking, more sounds will be included, and if you get your Stylish ranking up to S, the song plays in its entirety, including the vocals. So basically, the better you fight, the better the song, encouraging you to get that ranking up.
10:59 In the game, this theme plays only if Virgil is the boss against whom you fight for Dante or Nero, the question is: why should such a track go 9 minutes? Because Virgil is unpredictable for the first time, you don’t know his attacks and how he will behave, so the first meeting is really delayed and as I found out in this song the whole story of Virgil is retold
@Amari Leone if you're curious for more information about Bury the light, Alex Moukala did an interview with Casey about his inspiration and difficulties when recording. something you might enjoy
Im no DMC lore expert here but let me explain what I think I know without any major spoilers for DMCV. Vergil is the twin brother of Dante and they are both the sons of a legendary demon named Sparda who sealed off the Hell from the human world and their mom was a human. When they were young their house burned down and when their mother went to look for Vergil she died in the fire. Dante grew up to be a formidable demon hunter, and Vergil just as powerful but he blamed himself for his mother's death because he wasnt strong enough to save her. For this reason he resented his human side and considers it weak. So he searches for power, always trying to become stronger by any means necessary and I think at this point of the story he's sort of forgotten why. This struggle of human versus demon within his heart, the memory of all that he loved and wanted to protect. Vergil had to Bury the Light in search of power and in his mind theres no turning back, theres no coming home. I could be wrong on parts of this but its what i got after playing DMCV and looking into the rest of the series. This song is steeped in symbolism and its because Casey's favorite character IS Vergil so he really wanted to do him justice and by the gods did he do it. If you liked this one try Devil Trigger by the same guy. Its Nero's battle theme from the same game.
Special Edition: Re-release of the original game with additional content, namely Vergil as a playable character and Turbo Mode, a modification for the game that ups the speed of everything by 20% I believe to make gameplay look cooler. DMC3 did it. DMC4 did it YEARS after the original game's release, adding Vergil, Lady, and Trish to the cast. And now DMC5 did a Special Edition. When this plays: It's Vergil's Battle Theme. Every time you get into a fight that doesn't have its own theme (bosses or minibosses) while playing as Vergil, this plays. I should also note that all the character Battle Themes are dynamic. That is, the song goes through phases based on what's happening in gameplay (your Style rating to be more specific). This is the full, uncut 9 minute version of the song, but the version in game sounds notably different because of all the cutting on top of a new section that isn't in this version (that plays when you get to an "A" Style rating). There's also a few edits of the song that play in-game such as the one that played in the Release Trailer for the game that's also used in the final boss fight of Vergil's campaign.
Vergil is a character that was added as playable in the special edition of the game, this plays when he is fighting. The song is dinamic in the game so, different parts will play, the tempo, the speed, all of that will change depending on how you are playing to match the feel of the game
12:25 To be fair, Vergil wasn't in the anime, so people wouldn't know him unless they got into the games or surrounding material. I haven't seen the anime myself, but I've seen that Dante fights a guy that's supposed to be reminiscent of Vergil, but that's it. My impression is that the anime is supposed to be a slice of life during the time Dante was at his peak brooding state, after the events of the third and first games (in that order), when Vergil wasn't around. Otherwise, the whole DMC world is a very different vibe when he's lightened up enough to be a comedic memelord.
ok to answer your questions Casey Edwards is a guy and Victor Borba is the vocalist also in dmc5 special edition you get to play as Vergil and that song plays every time you encounter an enemy and there are specific parts of the song that play depending on your style rank ALSO Yes Vergil is a bad guy and yes he is Dante’s brother… and Nero’s father…. oh yeah and you should play devil may cry the entire series except for dmc and devil may cry 2
If you’re still wondering about the meaning of the song, here’s a brief background. Devil May Cry’s main character is Dante who is a half demon who hates other demons and owns a business where people hire him to fight demons. He has a twin brother named Vergil who embraces his demonic side and tries through various means to become more powerful. This song is Vergil’s combat music, and it shows how he tries to suppress the human within him while becoming more demonic.
This is Vergil's song that plays whenever a battle happens ingame, Vergil is in the base game the final boss, but in the special edition of DMC V you can play throu the game as Vergil, this is his song
Ingame the song ramps up as you perform better in battle, I really recommend checking out "Dynamic Bury The Light" for an easy grasp of that. If you liked this you should DEFINATELY check out Casey's other DMC5 song: Devil Trigger. Would love to see you check it out.
Don't bother with anyone who gets mad at you pausing. That's the point of a reaction. If they want uninterrupted music they should go to the original song. Liked and subbed!!!
The “Special Edition” refers to the game, not the song. Bury The Light plays when you fight as Vergil, and it’s a dynamic song, similar to MGR where certain parts cut out. When your combo rating changes, the game seamlessly plays a different part of the song depending on the combo rating. Starting out, it’s just the vocals of the final chorus. Then when your combo changes, it adds instruments and changes to a different part of the song.
It says Special Edition because in DMC5, you play as Nero, Dante and V. In the Special Edition you play as Vergil through every level again with only cutscenes at the beginning and the end of the game unlike the original story
Dude great reaction you have to play the games or watch the LPs cuz the song is literally Vergil's life. Also yes I know about Night Wish I am happily surprised someone else appreciate them too. "Is he a bad guy?" Well yes, but actually no. He is bad in the case of he has murdered so many demons in his pursuit of power, but also isn't as he wants power so that he can protect the people and things that he loves dearly. The purpose is not evil but the methods he uses to get to that point are. Him and Dante both had a rough childhood but both had separate paths to come to where they are in DMC V.
if you have the time look up the lore to this game. it will help give context to this song. this game series started off as a resident evil game but soon became something much more.
Special edition stands for a better and more upgraded version of the game featuring Vergil as a playable character, more features and full next gen support for next gen consoles i.e. ray tracing and near constant 60 fps on the highest graphical settings

According to Casey, the composer, the last section of the song was a personal vendetta for him. Vergil as a character means a lot to him personally, so he felt like he had to portray the character the best way he could in that finale. His sadness, loneliness, trauma, desperation for power, all of that is laid bare in that section.
Why "vendetta"?
@@CreepyHandedMan Obsession would have been a better description. Casey was so deeply invested in the character and knew this might be Vergil's last time "on stage", so he NEEDED a theme to hit his character home so hard that he'd become memorable.

Now I’ve been looking at a few other “reactors” and came across this you might enjoy this ruclips.net/video/5NU8vH39BoU/видео.html it's a short interview with Casey Edwards about this song and how it all came to be, that being said I love this reaction keep it up
Yeah I have a hard time seeing how this could ever be boring even over time. Also oh nice I'm defintely going to watch that video
I was the same way when the song first came out, was a huge fan of the series before hand and an even bigger fan after
10:42 The in-game theme isn’t 9 minutes, how it works is that the song will start when you get into a fight and it will start playing different parts of the song based on your current style ranking of D to SSS. For example, having an S style rank will play the “I am the storm that is approaching” or “Forsakened, I am awakened” part. They did that also with the other 3 battle themes
Wow that's actually super dope, so not based on the current battle but based on everything that came before?
@@AmariLeone I think it's just based on a certain battle and the calmer parts of the song plays depending on your style rank d is the calmest and non impactful part whereas s plays the best and most impactful moments of the music
Edit: playing as Vergil plays the song in all battles even small ones
So depending on how stylish you're doing in the fights the song changes dynamically. You're doing really good and completely destroying everything stylishly? You're Style rank increases and the music changes to the most hype parts.
You're doing bad, getting hit, running away, not attacking or repeating attacks? That's not stylish so your style rank goes lower and the music dynamically changes to the not so hype parts of the song.
It's a incentive/reward for fighting with style. You do cool stuff so the song adapts.
@@AmariLeone its based on how you do during the current battle. here's bury the light, but segmented into the parts that the game plays while you have a certain rank, it just loops that part of the song until you hit the next rank, then it plays a small transition and starts the next segment.
ruclips.net/video/az3qwXf4Z-I/видео.html
Also, if you're good enough with Vergil, you can pull off shit like this
ruclips.net/video/GEZON93hV-s/видео.html&ab_channel=SunhiLegend
@@AmariLeone The official song is like a special treat and fuller, like getting into the feelings and emotions, mostly for the character but can be experienced for yourself which Devil May Cry is about family, emotion and humanity, it's not just about edge, slaying evil and horrific demons.
Great video, love seeing people react to this masterpiece of a theme. To answer some of your questions (in chronological order as I'm watching the video):
Special Edition is simply a version of the game that came out after the main game did for the PS5 and XBSX.
This was so informative thank you so much!
I love this song so much and I always hear that the DT melody part is used but I feel like my ears just can’t pick it up, what instrument or like sound plays the DT melody? My ears wanna pick it up but I haven’t been able to ;-;
@@XNotsoSacredx The entire last part of the song is the DT melody but with a different arrangement.
“Is he a good guy or a bad guy?”
“Yes”.
😂
Casey Edwards is male musical artist who is a huge fan of Devil May Cry and Vergil was his favorite character in the franchise, so he wrote The Bury The Light and did most of the music as well. Also Capcom told him not to use guitars including electric guitars while he was making this theme, but he still nailed Bury The Light, and this theme rocks!!! 🤘🎶
Also this theme is talks about Vergil and how much suffering he went through throughout the franchise if you played the games.
Yes. The credited vocal and composer artist is all Casey Edwards
This is not a song...
This is?...
Motivation...
11:12 YES. This is basically the catharsis for the character, this is the V game so it has a lot of meaning to him and to us
The more I listen to this song, the more impressed I am just by the mixing. It's so hard to get so many different things to sound so good and so clear. I don't know how else to describe it.
Nice reaction! I was just looking for more reactions lol. Also found it funny that the keyboard in the back is the exact same one I’ve owned since I was a kid.
I have also owned that keyboard since I was a child (hence the drawings on it lol), in fact it was my first keyboard.
*S* ora the

lol
this song has so many meanings that this explains a single verse, it really does define the character Vergil in one badass song.
Quick synopsis of the song.
1) special edition means its the special edition of the game which allowed you to play as Vergil
2) Vergil is Dante's brother and more or less an anti hero than a villain similar to a Vegeta from DBZ.
Finally yes everytime Virgil fights this song plays but it's a modified version and depends on how long each fight takes.
this song always gives me goosebumps
Into The Nothing as been my personal power ballad for many years now, that song saved my life man!
The next part afterwards is virgils "arrival".
for the love of god plz, it's vErgil not Virgil
@@egrassa1480 The more I saw the name, it made me doubt myself and the fact that it's vErgil lol
This song is like Vergil's Story it fits hims perfectly as a character
This song literally got me into DMC. I only just started watching someone play DMC 1, 2, 3 (currently watching 4) and planning on getting DMC 5 myself.
First time I’m seeing a video of yours, but got to respect a Breaking Benjamin enjoyer. 😎
I’d completely forgotten about this song until a few days ago, and it’s been on repeat ever since.
Had to come back after watching all the way through just to say: Nice video. I enjoyed the energy and commentary you brought with your reaction, that you were able to add to such an awesome song. 👍
They're awesome right!
Thought I was the only one hearing that 3rd voice track glad you called that out 👌
Nah you got golden ears my man!
@@AmariLeone lmaooo I was watching his face during that part of the song, I wanted to see if he'd pick it too
18:00 it's the exact same section repeated in the background haha
11:15 The music in-game has a variable combat system so depending on how well you're doing in the game fighting enemies, the music will tone itself down or ramp up based on your performance.
Special edition due to being rereleased a year later with bonus stuff in the game, including vergil and his theme song. you can come to me for all the quesitons hehehe, but tldr is this is a ballad of vergils life
Ahhhh that's dope
Ahhh so it's kinda like a DLC?
@@AmariLeone in a way, it's also a remaster for the game for newer gen consoles
Yes it he also playable in normal dmc 5. And him as dlc playable character for $5.
And i got it on sale on playstation dmcv+vergil for $9.99 so it is a steal for me😁
He's also the first boss a main protagonist and a recurring rival
"I'm gonna have to play this game now, god dammit" -Every person who listens to Bury the Light
In every games he appear in (expect dmc1) he can be played with dlc or later release
Ésta si es una reacción de verdad! gracias!
Im quite surprised that theres some people that hasent listen to this song contains power wich can make you motivated if you listen to it
This song is Vergil’s character
Literally the the title “bury the light” has meaning to vergils character along with every other vocal this song is vergil speaking basically every line applies to vergil
In fact the song even has vergils character arc in it
Fun Fact, Bury The Light at the end has a similiar tone from Nero's battle them called "Devil Trigger" if someone didn't know
its called special edition because this song along with vergil get added in a dlc for DMC5
*heavy spoilers*
Vergil and Dante (main character in anime) are twin brothers. Long story short:
Family gets attacked by demons for plot reasons, (human) mother is able to protect Dante but not Vergil (she dies before she reaches him) so he awakens demon half (demon father) and seeks power to protect himself as he thought mother abandoned him. the demons basically torture him trying to kill him as his demon half makes it so he's hard to kill so heavy trauma.
This song never fails to inpress, and then some ppl still think game music is always bad, they need to wake up.
Those are people who've never heard game music lol
And yet pretty much everyone knows BTL, they wont escape it lol
Devils Never Cry uses a layered voice effect with demonic and clear, human vocals like the one in this.
Apparently when this was made Capcom told Casey he couldn't use guitars for vergils theme
God shattering star is another song that’s on this level and would make you that hype. Highly recommend it lol
Im so glad u find out this insane masterpiece, as u Said is rlly incredible
The special edition gives you vergil as a playable character and of course he has this song and a few extra cutscenes

Oohhh you dropping vids more often... me likey.
I'm trying to ramp it up lol. Thanks for checking out ALL my content & not just one specific artist
The special edition thing is a longstanding tradition, where Vergil is always in a seperate 'Special Edition' of the game
Song is heavily inspired by BFG Division by Mick Gordon and Mick Gordon apparently gave Casey Edwards one of his first jobs
Yeah the vocalist is victor borba
He killed it!
ok to answer your questions Casey Edwards is a guy and Victor Borba is the vocalist
also in dmc5 special edition you get to play as Vergil and that song plays every time you encounter an enemy and there are specific parts of the song that play depending on your style rank ALSO Yes Vergil is a bad guy and yes he is Dante’s brother… and Nero’s father…. oh yeah and you should play devil may cry the entire series except for dmc and devil may cry 2
ah yes there are two genders: the guy and the vocalist

If you’re still wondering about the meaning of the song, here’s a brief background. Devil May Cry’s main character is Dante who is a half demon who hates other demons and owns a business where people hire him to fight demons. He has a twin brother named Vergil who embraces his demonic side and tries through various means to become more powerful. This song is Vergil’s combat music, and it shows how he tries to suppress the human within him while becoming more demonic.
this song has so many meanings that this explains a single verse, it really does define the character Vergil in one badass song.

Dude this song. I listen to this song a shit tone since it came out. It's in my downloads. Best song I've ever heard
This is Vergil's song that plays whenever a battle happens ingame, Vergil is in the base game the final boss, but in the special edition of DMC V you can play throu the game as Vergil, this is his song
This is great final boss music
i agree, but the final boss music is a modified version of Devil Trigger (one of the protagonist's battle song)
i love it when music producer amazed by this really well made song
you might want to react to FF14 shadowbringer theme song btw
great reaction really enjoyed. +1 sub

Devil's never cry is from Devil May Cry 3 and you should listen to it cuz it's FIREEE
Don't know if you have already, but you should totally react to devil trigger. From the same game and same artist
I have not but I'll add it to the list

That's the twin brother of Dante, and he is the top G
It was my first time coming to this channel, and I'm really enjoy watching your video, BIG LOVE
Know any song's that are like this because I'm really addicted to this song
Dude great reaction you have to play the games or watch the LPs cuz the song is literally Vergil's life. Also yes I know about Night Wish I am happily surprised someone else appreciate them too. "End of all Hope" is my fav,, it's what got me into them. What's yours?
Edit:
One more thing check out Devils Never Cry from DMC 3 I promise you won't be disappointed.
"Is he a bad guy?"
Well yes, but actually no.
Finally !!!! bury the light
Ok also you’ve heard vergils definitive theme now you need to listen to devils never cry Dante’s definitive theme cuz that is another banger
Special edition stands for a better and more upgraded version of the game featuring Vergil as a playable character, more features and full next gen support for next gen consoles i.e. ray tracing and near constant 60 fps on the highest graphical settings
