    Nero is a character that was recently introduced in DMC 4 and now 5. He's a good guy but has a short temper, is young and brash. Like other characters, he's part demon, unlike other character though he still has trouble controlling the demon inside him. It interesting because in this song, Nero pretty much coming to terms with his inner demon, embracing the "dark" side for power that he can use to protect the people he love. Which is very similar yet different to Vergil's song, who is trying to bury the "light" or his humanity for more power for the sake of power.

      And DMC 3's "Devil's Never Cry" to make it complete. Actually, parts of Vergil's "Bury the Light" are a direct reference to some of "Devil's Never Cry" and nearly identical (like estranged twins) to them.
      "Subhuman" fits rather subpar as Dante's Theme and will ever be overshadowed by his Origin Theme of DMC 3, but that's just my opinion. Sadly the DMC 5 remastered version of it doesn't shine as bright either in comparison =/

    My favorite thing about Nero as a character is that he’s a messed up quarter-demon orphan(ish) rage monster, but he’s far and away the most normal person in his family. When everyone else is fighting to the death because they’re IDIOTS, he’s the one screaming that they’re IDIOTS. He’s probably the only one amongst them who knows how to pay taxes. He’s living in a healthy relationship with a loving girlfriend and has a steady demon hunting job. He also has a motorcycle sword and a robot arm. He’s great 👍.

    also if you notice in the chorus of Devil Trigger, the same leitmotif is also played in Bury the Light's 3rd chorus "Bury the light deep within, Cast aside there's no coming home, We're burning chaos in the wind, Drifting in the ocean all alone". this has a connection to the game lore itself where Nero, is the son of Vergil. Casey Edwards is really clever putting the little details on the music, since he is indeed take a huge part in both of the songs.

  • @ultimateexpander4517
    @ultimateexpander4517 Год назад +7

    For context on the hook, “Devil Trigger” gets its name from DMC’s in game super meter. The meter builds during combat, and can be used to activate a powered up form called Devil Trigger. The rest of the hook “bang bang bang” evokes DMC’s heavy emphasis on gunplay, mainly as an accent for melee combos (at least that’s how I see it).
    Due to plot reasons Nero can’t activate Devil Trigger until the final fight in DMC5, so for most of the game the song feels like it’s only referencing guns (and fueling Nero’s inferiority complex). However, once you make it to the final chapter you get access to Nero’s Devil Trigger ability, and the game plays a synthed up remix of Devil Trigger. On top of this, the song doesn’t start until you activate the Devil Trigger meter, so it really sells you on the tension release of “pulling your devil trigger”.
    Devil May Cry likes to use its music to dynamically flow with your gameplay, and to communicate its story themes, so I highly recommend playing DMC5 to experience the OST in its intended context.

    Nero is the abandoned son of Vergil, meaning he possesses demonic powers akin to Vergil and Dante, but combines there views on their demonic abilities and power, as Nero doesn’t fully embrace his demonic side, but still try’s to get more and more powerful like Vergil. He is much more prone to anger than his father Vergil, who for the most part can keep level headed, or his uncle Dante, who never takes many situations seriously. He was a part of an order who worshipped his grandfather Sparda as a god, but after a demon slashed Nero’s arm, it caused it transform into what’s in game called a Devil Bringer, which allows him to tap into his demonic abilities and restored Vergil’s demonic katana, The Yamato. Initially, he hides his arm, thinking himself less because he’s part demon, but after meeting Dante, he learns to embrace this power and use it to kill demons and begins to run his own branch of Devil May Cry, Dante’s demon hunting business. Few years later though Vergil escapes his imprisonment as a demonic slave and finally reunites with Nero, only to rip his demonic arm off. Nero then works with Dante and V (the human side of Vergil) to stop Urizen (the demon side of Vergil), but after learning from Dante that Vergil is his father after the 2 forms of vergil reunite, he vows to stop the two brothers from trying to kill each other, which the anger and frustration caused him to regrow his missing arm and unlock his Devil Trigger, which gives him a true demon form and allows him to save Dante and Vergil from each other.

      @@darkoraclegirl4570 Vergil smashed what most people think is the lady in the red dress for his dmc4 trailer, then straight up fuckin dipped leaving the woman to give nero to an orphanage. @darkoraclegirl4570 Год назад +1

      @@Malhare01 But you are just assuming the woman just gave Nero up. You aren't considering if something happened to her. There are other reasons Nero could've ended up in an orphanage that don't imply that his mother just threw him away.

    • @Malhare01
      @Malhare01 Год назад

      @@darkoraclegirl4570 it’s also been speculated that his mother was a “lady of the night,” which means 2 things for nero, her getting pregnant with her was an inconvenience, and she didn’t want to raise a child, or her line of work didn’t leave time to raise a child, so she gave him away. Considering she’s been mentioned, like, twice, she’s not someone of importance, not even to Nero, as Vergil and Dante (as shown in DMC5), alongside Kyrie and Credo is the only family he cares about. Also, don’t twist this to me bashing on women, I’m stating this in what most of the community believes to be the case.

    • @darkoraclegirl4570
      @darkoraclegirl4570 Год назад

      @@Malhare01 I was not twisting this to say you were bashing women. I was merely pointing out that you were only going with the one expiation without any other proof then Nero was an orphan. Right now all we have are fan theories and thus the truth could be different.
      Like for example in a DMCXBayonetta cross over Jeanne was Nero's mother but was told that Nero died in a demon attack. This opens the theory that Nero's mother might've been made to think her son was dead, perhaps as a means for the Order to get more future knights that don't have parents getting in the way should that knight disappear into Agnus' lab.
      Or there's the possibility that Nero's mother died in child birth or some time after Nero was born.
      There is also the possibility that Nero was a child that was kidnapped and brought to Fortuna, since we don't know for sure his mother really is from there.
      Another possible answer, and could fit with possible religious belief of the Order's members, could be that when Nero's mother couldn't produce the identity of Nero's father, or even show proof of marriage, she was deemed unfit to raise a child and thus he was taken from her under the belief that a single woman can not/should not raise a child.
      You see what I'm getting at here? I mean no hate or to throw any accusations at you about anything. I'm just saying you seem to only be looking at one side of the theories regarding Nero's mother. Perhaps that's due to people not talking much about the other ones. I don't know. All I'm saying is we can't rule out that Nero ending up an orphan was against his mother's wishes.

    The DMC anime is a bit of an odd duck, its more of a supplementary material to enhance and flesh out the games story and world. If your really curious plenty of people have made compilations of all the games cutscenes in about 2 hours. It strangely works because most of the story is in these cutscenes so its digestible without the gameplay. 1 and 2 are very of their time cutscenes but 3,4,and 5 are damn near timeless.
