I was 7 and went to the shopping centre (I don’t remember which one now) to watch her sing this very song. I have her record she signed for me that day. I am nearly 50 now
I was 10 years old when this came out. I was a kiwi kid who lived in Brisbane for 5 years in the 80's and will never forget this song. It was and still is iconic.
This song should be played for Brisbane 200th Birthday and the Olympics in 2032. PS love Kim Durant for what she did for Brisbane, great to see love you QLD but it doesn't have same ring as love Ya Brisbane.
Perth borrowed the Love You Brisbane song so they could alter the lyrics and change the city’s name from Brisbane to Perth, thus resulting in the song being called Love You Perth. It was their version of the iconic song that shaped Brisbane, just with a Perth flavour added to it.
It’s not a rip-off. Love You Brisbane is a true original - launched in 1982 on BTQ-7 Brisbane and lasted until 1988. TVW-7 Perth actually borrowed this tune 3 years later for their Love You Perth station promo in 1985. So no, it’s not a rip-off at all. Please be sure you know all the correct information before you go posting stuff like “A rip off Love You Perth” in the comments.
@@InterestingThingsAU And then at some point NTD-8, a Nine affiliate in Darwin, had a jingle that was like the Love You Brisbane jingle.. kinda interesting how some networks/affiliates manage to have similar jingles from one another.

Should use this as the promo song for the Olympics in 32.
Yesssss
Especially if Channel 9 gets the TV rights.
It's a bit cringe, surely local musicians like Powderfinger will come up with something better?.. 🤔😂

@@InterestingThingsAU So Love You Perth only lasted just one year in 1985?
She looks beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Congrads Kim.. wonder if you remember Rixy.. times have gone but not the memories mate..
Bit confused - the channel launched in 1956 but had a 50th anniversary in n 1982 ? The maths don’t add up 😳
This was aired in 2009 as part of the 50th Anniversary special. 1982 is when the Love You Brisbane station id was launched.
@@Gary86 ok thanks
What about the IDs BTQ7 used before it? ("Seven Fever", "Seven, You're Still Looking Hot!"), they might have copies in their archives.
