Except when Deebo & Kittle were hurt, Aiyuk put up the exact same numbers he has when they are all on the field. There is something to be said that Aiyuk's production didn't drop off when he became the #1 passing option for those 3 or so games, but he also didn't put up better numbers, either. When the biggest excuse people use for him not playing better is "But Aiyuk is the 4th, or at best, 3rd option on the offense. There just aren't enough balls to go around for him to catch 100 passes." Well, when Deebo, Trent Williams & Kittle were hurting at points during the 1st half of the season, Aiyuk put up the same stats on average as all the other weeks of the season.
I've been watching the Receiver show on Netflix... When Deebo went down for 3 games, what was the record again? (0-3) Scoring went down by how much? (by half!) So, who really is more valuable for the SF system?
Trent was also down in those three games in a struggling oline.
The niners can win without B.A. Deebo has been a lynch pin to the whole team.

the idea that Ayuik could just go to another team and put up the same numbers is crazy. If he doesn't have a great coach, a great qb, and tons of other players to take pressure off of him he's not gonna continue at the same rate. If he goes to the Commanders it would be a rude awakening. "Imagine what he could do." Imagine him on a team with no running threat, or where the scheme is bad or his qb sucks.

If you check his numbers out he didn't do well against top defences. In the Post season, he only caught 9 of 20 targets. He couldn't get open except when they schemed him against the safety in the Super Bowl. And if he hadn't accidentally caught a pass off the Detroit Lions helmet, he would have had 99 yds on 8 catches off 20 targets in the 3 postseason games... 🤷♂️

Also this isn't true. He put up 156 yards against Tampa, 130 against Pittsburgh, and 120 against Baltimore.
He's only really disappeared because Kyle Shanahan doesn't prefer to target Ayuik that much and prefers to not scheme him open as much compared to Deebo. (Who usually struggles against Man coverage)

Aiyuk is open because the first and second read are All Pro options. Third read is Deebo lol. Aiyuk is being covered by 3rd and 4th DB. Of course he is open, even when he is deployed as a decoy route. He gonna get locked down when he is the only weapon on the team

However, great wide receivers are plentiful in the NFL. Only a handful of Deebo Samuels come around in a lifetime.

It wasn't that he wasn't good...watch film. He was alway open on the deep route...Jimmy G. doesn't throw intermediate to deep routes. So Aiyuk was the " run off " man during that allowing Deebo to catch all of the slants and short routes underneath.

wrong...Deebo's time is over. His purpose no longer needed. Deebo was brought in for Jimmy G. so Kyle could get the maximum from a short passing game. That's no longer needed, and since Aiyuk is the more complete receiver, he should be the one who stays.

Deebo was so awful last year. He's that crap you stepped in and can't get completely scrapped off your shoe. He'd be great on a team that only runs the ball. He couldn't catch or run routes at full speed last year... God forbid anyone need him to throw a block. He's already retired from playing football, he's just hanging out cashing checks.

Samuals is great when he touches the ball but tends to slack off when the play is not going to him. On the other hand, Aiyuk and Purdy are incredibly in sinc almost every time they connect. That’s why Aiyuk’s average yards per target are so high. I agree with Pat that the 49er’s are trying to keep both for one more season but the second best option is to trade Samuals and pay Aiyuk.
Trading Deebo would cost the 49ers 20+ dead cap. It's not a great option at all until next season.
Right because aiyuk is a threat in the backfield or in the slot lol. How many WR out there can catch a deep ball? All of them. Which ones can lineup as a RB or pick up tons of YAC in the slot? Deebo is a unique threat he's more crucial to the way the offense operates even if he's not touching the ball.

Trading Deebo over Aiyuk sounds completely insane to me. That must be why I've stopped watching sports channels during the offseason, and only watch RUclips clips. The hypothetical chatter and speculation is way beyond ad nauseum. I can't wait for the football season to be here already. Love the NFL & college football, but I hate all the drama.

This would be a really stupid move! Deebo might get them a 3rd round pick at best. More realistically a 4th. BA is worth a 1st round pick as an All Pro WR. For the 1,000th time: Brady won multiple Super Bowls with WRs that only their WAGs remember, but he always had a stellar OL protecting him.
At this point, it would only make sense to trade him for a Pro Bowl OT.
The market is not 35 for receiver. Jefferson is an outlier contract by a team that will not be in Super Bowl contention for a long time

Deebo is more crucial to the offense. Whether he is being productive or not deebo lining up behind the QB or in the slot is enough to give the defense trouble.
Ayuik is a great number 2 WR...in the 9ers offense he is probably the 5th option when all is healthy (C.Mac, Deebo, CMac the WR, Deebo the RB then Ayuik) and he gets a lot of favorable coverages due to teams not keying him
It makes sense to trade Deebo over aiyuk, the production and age is much more beneficial on BA

In the last few years my approach was to always assume Florio's takes are completely wrong. That approach - unlike Florio - has a pretty good accuracy on its predictions.

Unless a team is willing to step in and alleviate the 20 million dollar cap hit Deebo will have on SF (which will only drive down the value of the pick) then he isn't leaving. Aiyuk on the other hand, would return far more value. 9ers have a stacked roster, full of the highest paid at their respective positions. Price of success.
They can also sign a number of really good vets in 2025.
I suspect CMC and Kittle are untouchable but Aiyuk and Deebo will be gone with in 2 years.

No idea if it's true or not, but if they left some of the alleged offers for Aiyuk on the table, that could have boosted the offensive line or other areas of the team, then I'll really start to question the front office. I defend them all the time, but can't justify that.

Deebo is by far more valuable. The absolute only reason they should even be considering it is bc Aiyuke is 2 years younger, and Deebo may have a shorter shelf life bc of how he is used, but I’m still not doing it. You can find another Aiyuke, finding another Deebo is way more difficult.

Why would the 49ers trade BA away for anything less than what BA is worth? Why would they care if other teams want to pay BA 50 mil a year? The 49ers want a trade equivalent or better than BA, and BA is under contract. Why would they get rid of BA for draft capital? It makes no sense from the 49ers perspective. If I'm BA? I want my money and I'll try to get that money any way I can. This situation makes complete sense. What does it come down to? If BA is gonna sit the season out. Thats literally it.
It makes more sense to trade BA but the 49ers don't seem to be getting back a 1st. My guess is teams are offering 2rd picks or some kind of lower combination. Trade Debo and get the right value might be more workable.

5 teams were willing to trade for him and pay him. They were only offering maybe a 4th round pick. That is why he wasn't traded. George Kittle and Deebo are not going anywhere. You know these guys are just talking for ratings. The truth is more boring. Deal will get done for Aiyuk. Next year Brock will get paid. All this is because it is the down time in the NFL. You have to remember Deebo was basically their running back for 2 years and is already having injury issues. Essentially a 29 year old receiver in a 31 year old running backs body and 2 years past his prime. Even his receptions are balls caught around the line of scrimmage taking multiple hits from linebackers and lineman. Aiyuk on the other hand is entering his prime and probably will be close to it for the next 5 years. He barely even gets tackled, he’s usually running out of bounds or scoring. I also don’t think it will be Deebo and Kittle, It will be Deebo and McCaffrey. Let’s face it, a high paid older running back is a luxury. They also coincidentally drafted a RB and WR this year. I also disagree with Trent Williams leaving. He’s their favorite player and is still the best player maybe second to Mahomes is the league. They’ll keep him as long as they can.
