Finally, after 2 years jourmalists (not all) learnt to pronounce Iga's family name properly.

It becomes a bit repetitive with Iga getting tough half draw and Sabalenka or Gauff- as it is now- a much easier one. It's basically AO all over again. They want her to crush out of Wimby asap and get Gauff as a winner in the best scenario.

Very true. Since 2022 when she took over from Ash Barty, most media have been waiting & waiting for Iga to fall flat on her face. The Jazda express just keeps crushing the field as she gets better & better & better..

Yeah, it's super annoying. SHE'S THE #1 SEED! She should have arguably the easiest draws due to her seeding... but because of the randomness of the draw, she seemingly always has to fight harder for titles than seeds 2-4.

Iga is the number 1 player in the world, she should be playing these top players. When you're the best, you should be playing the best. What she should have a draw with ALL players in the top 100s. They used to do the same thing with Serena and give her the toughest draw and it made Serena a BEAST. When Naomi came on the scene in 2018, She was ASKING FOR SERENA, she wanted to play the best of the best. THAT'S A WARRIOR MINDSET.

@@user-ij9kl3od1tnot so much randomness but rather players underperforming and in turn getting terrible seeds or none. At the moment, two slam champions are out of the way. It's one of the smartest things Iga does, think about tomorrow and not next week....

Iga will definitely cope with every player in this tournament. Its development over the last year has been impressive. First of all, he has the mind of the best tennis players. She towers over the other girls in her perfectionism and dashing around the court.

Maybe seeing a huge mountain to climb motivates you for the challenge, whereas if you start on a gentle slope which becomes a huge mountain it can trip you up.
    Just a thought🙂

Sometimes, I think Wimbly is overrated. The British like to think Wimbly is the greatest thing to happen to tennis. It used to, not anymore. When they say it's a nightmare draw for Iga, so hilarious. Why can't they stop for a sec & say it's a nightmare draw for the gals lined-up to play Iga as well. Like Mike Tyson said: "you always have a plan until you get punched in the face"

I don’t think she’s played Ostapenko enough to make many assumptions. 4 matches in the 6 yrs Iga’s been on tour, is just not much. The last 2 matches were 3-set matches; Iga winning 1st set, each time. Being pedestrian, & not giving Swiatek the chance to face her more, may help I guess; in the sporadic times they’ll actually face-off

Iga faces a difficult task, but it is a chance for us to see Iga fighting with the upper elite of the grass game, almost at every level of the ladder. Even though it's grass, I think that this year Iga will reach the final and win it. For every player who will meet Iga at this year's Wimbledon, it will be Dead End. A street you can't leave without failure. I wouldn't count out Paolini, who can reach high levels, and the joke of heaven this year would be the Iga vs Jasmine final. Koko Gauff is one of my favorites and may surprise us.

that's overly optimistic ::: let's hope she'll reach semifinal , which will be best Wimbledon result so far ... her game is not a grass game, lack of dropshots, net play , volleys .. .. .. I hope we will see a change the way she approaches this surface . good luck IGA

@@WildCheval I think that in today's woman tennis drop shots are overvalued. Everyone plays strong shots on the base line and it is difficult to make dropshot standing behind base line. When Iga was playing Wimbledon, when she was Junior, she played killer dropshots and I think we will see few drophots from her this year. Above also applies to net play. Rest is in total control.
