Thanks! I have a 2000 neon that needs a new radiator. This helped a lot. I always prefer doing my own auto work and rely heavily on youtube videos posted by people like you to get details that my Chilton's doesn't provide. It's also a lot easier to see the steps than just read them.
Thanks much for your demonstration. Like a few of the below comments I did have a bit of trouble keeping my car running after getting everything put back together. I feel one needs to be very careful when moving the air box and throttle body. I checked my vacuum lines and my car ran fine after. I did not loosen the computer bracket as suggested; however, I can definitely now see where it would have made getting the radiator in and out easier. Also, I got some twist ties and tied up my transmission hoses to keep the fluid from running out. Thanks again, great video.
Well done, I owe you a beer. My first rad change ever. Watched three times and putted through the job in a lazy hour. You sir are a scholar and a gentleman :-D.
good video, my daughter just came home iwth a small crack in the upper tank, you probably saved me 45 minutes pointing out the misc clamps i need to disconnect. thanks
Nice video, very helpful. I just had to remove my radiator from my 2003 dodge neon SXT. I didn't know/see the screws/bolts holding the condenser to the radiator. I luckily get them from the front lower cutouts in the front of the car. Thanks again
I'm working on a 2005 right now, the process seems identical except for the computer is mounted differently with a threaded stud sticking out of the frame, because of that you can't get it out of the way because it hits the fans. Also the fan plugs go directly to the fans rather than the bottom. Haven't gotten the computer out yet so that's my sticking point.
Ok once you remove the mounting nut, remove as many screws you can reach from the PCM and then unplug all the cables you can then work it around and get the PCM out and then fight with the fans and get them out. Also there is a single fan plug on the bottom of the fans as well as one on each fan, you just need the one on the bottom.
Thank you. I am doing this by myself. The husband thinks it's good for me to know how so I'm going to surprise him by proving I can before he comes home from work. Wish me luck. Lol
I have found sometimes when replacing a aftermarket radiator the spring hose clamps will not be tight enough and there will be a leak.In this case i replace the clamps with the screw style.
10 Minute fix, only remove radiator (although this is not same car, my Neon is more similar to this other other video) ruclips.net/video/BPII3yh4btA/видео.html
Did this today. Most of it is pretty cut and dry. I removed only what I needed and I was fine. I replaced the lower hose while I was at it; now that was a bitch!!! Those damn factor hose clamps are difficult to compress in tight corners. Just have to re-tighten a few bolts and I'll be completely done. Thanks Rich!
Thanks for the helpful video! Can you give me info on how to get the fan back in? It seems too tight and I don't want to break the new radiator. Thanks!!!
Great video! I have a choice, do it myself for $103 or $270 to the shop ha ha! Your video is a great help. The best I've seen on youtube and elsewhere! Thanks. Question , did you drain the trans fluid? Others have suggested so but I see you didn't cap the lines, is it necessary?
Good video man. I've watch alot of your work on neons. they helped me with my motor/stabalizer mounts on my 2002 neon. Also my alternator belt replacement. Tomorrow I have to replace the coolant line to the radiator to tranny( the one thats close to the drivers side tire) Do you know what size( like diamiter) it is? I bought a Thermoid overflow tube that im hoping will fit. It withstands coolant a +250 degrees -40. Do you think it will work?
Your video is awesome. I need to replace my radiator on my Dodge Neon 2003 SXT model but it says there are two avail...1 with a 3 speed fan & 1 with a 4 speed fan...how do I know which one??
@sbab83 At a local autoparts store, or amazon there is a product called "Waterweld". It's basically JB-Weld, but it works on wet surfaces. I imagine it would be a perfect fix for your issue. I've used it on coolant hose connections dozen of times.
nice, do you happen to know of any way to stop a very small seeping leak on that top black plastic part? The metal radiator part is fine on mine, but up on the top black plastic, fluid seeps out while driving from a microscopic hole or something (you'd never see it if fluid weren't coming out of it). Like is their any product that I could just use to 'glue' it or something? Or is replacing the only way?
Hello, I bought an aftermarket radiator for my 2005 neon it comes with quick connect for the trans cooler lines. What am I supposed to do to install the old hose on the quick connect? thank you
i got a question. i want to replace the termoswith from the radiator. Because the fan turns on when the temperature is at the middle. Could you explain to me where that piece is ?
aaaaa i did all of this and now i have a coolant leak and dont know where is coming from is leaking on the right of the car on the bottom any suggestions
@richpin06a yeah it was and it was easier too but thanks tho your video helps me alot it gave me an idea but the other radiator came with oil coolers or heaters idk but they told me to leave it like than and just connect the two hoses it had
shop wants about 600.00 to replace radiator, a fan motor and defective thermostat. I found radiator less than 100.00 have not priced fan motor. Think I can save 400.00 So,.... Thank you so much!
Tip: When putting the new radiator back on and the fan, be very careful because there isnt too much space in there, and you could damage the new radiator because the new ones are so cheaply made...and triple check all of your hoses..

The explanation about the connector lock was great...you didn't have to do it but you did. That's what sets him apart from the rest. Good job.

Great job! good quality camera. The connector disconnect was a bugger for me. your description was great. THanx.

Rich, you are the king! Your vids are very clear, nice, informative!

@DemoFly Thank you so much! I'm gonna get my hands on some and try it out!
Great tutorial for my granddaughter to learn the basics
Thank you. I am doing this by myself. The husband thinks it's good for me to know how so I'm going to surprise him by proving I can before he comes home from work. Wish me luck. Lol
Hope everything goes fine.
Excellent tutorial, thank you so much. Save some bucks, thanks again.
@mrbeanz63 When you remove the lines from the radiator it will drain a small amount of fluid from the cooler in the radiator.
I have found sometimes when replacing a aftermarket radiator the spring hose clamps will not be tight enough and there will be a leak.In this case i replace the clamps with the screw style.
Do we have to do all these steps? Or is there another way of replacing the radiator without removing everything?

Thanks for the helpful video! Can you give me info on how to get the fan back in? It seems too tight and I don't want to break the new radiator. Thanks!!!
Great video! but why would a 2002 be in need of a radiator replacement?
In the listings i see there is one for the auto + standard.
Excellent tutorial, save some bucks.

Thanks-very helpful!!
@antoniomoreno16 There will be differences from this car to your eclipse.
Very good video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
When you get everything put back in do you have to bleed it or just fill it back up?
On the neon i have had good success filling through the top hose.
I believe the drain plug is in the spot your talking about I'd check that also
how many bolts did the fan have?
i got a question. i want to replace the termoswith from the radiator. Because the fan turns on when the temperature is at the middle. Could you explain to me where that piece is ?
Hey bud, Is the process similar to the Dodge neon 2005?
It should!
You MUST attatch your new radiator to the fan before inserting it into the car.
Off hand i do not.If the car was here i would check it out for you but it is not at the moment.

richpin06a, wouldn't a person wan't to disarm the airbag system first?
Removing the negative battery cable is always a good thing to do.
Thank you for the reply, richpin06a.
@richpin06a yeah it was and it was easier too but thanks tho your video helps me alot it gave me an idea but the other radiator came with oil coolers or heaters idk but they told me to leave it like than and just connect the two hoses it had

How do I remove fan
I've followed step by step but my car won't start it was just working fine
probably could have pulled the fan and radiator out as one unit, dont have to do alot of this stuff that he is removing..
YOU DONT HAVE TO MOVE THE COMPUTER OR THE INTAKE HEAD AT ALL
My 2005 Neon I'd never been able to get the parts out without moving the computer first. Really tight fit.
@richpin
idk wat i did wrong
Is this a video for ppl that don't know how to fix cars LoL
Been nice if it was not done in broken English what's happening to 🇺🇸
