  • We got the shop's turbo Goblin together enough to play with it in the driveway. It has the stock LNF out of a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. We raced it against an automatic base model Goblin. Base Goblin 0-60 is 4.75 seconds. Turbo is estimated to be in the low 3s.

You should see our driveway now. It has not held up well to the freight trucks that deliver our materials and pick up Goblin kits. Now that side of the driveway is for all terrain Goblins only.

There is a version of the Atom that is powered by the LSJ engine which is the same engine that is used in the Cobalt SS Supercharged.

Theoretically, it should. You take all the electronics from the donor and place them in the Goblin.

I know was thinking the same thing. And honestly the cheaper route for one of these is a 2.2 or 2.4 ecotec and strap a turbo on that engine instead. Either a ko4 or something similar.

@Storethis If you check the forum, *most* people--myself included--are buying cars that are already totaled and just using the undamaged drivetrain components. I've seen people grab cars from rollovers, rear-end collisions, and light front-end collisions. I've only seen maybe a couple people who have used fully-intact LNFs as their donors. My donor looked like it was sent over a curb and into a guardrail at a decent clip.
@Chad Oliver It would be cheaper up front but you're going to be doing a lot more custom work to get your turbo kit working with the Goblin (intercooler, custom charge pipes, custom tune, custom exhaust, etc). So the trade-off is you'll be spending less money but more time. Not saying you can't do it, and there are some members on the forum who chose that route, but most people seem to prefer the drop-in-and-go option with factory reliability.
