I didn't understand Tim Cagle until 220 Avg Bowler had him on his channel and really broke it down. It definitely made me go "What the F was that?!" It's really fascinating.
I really like how you manage to go through the styles and explain why they are unusual while I only made compilations of certain bowlers. 😂 This is really great content and definitely one of the best bowling related channels on RUclips!
If I were to give my suggestions for Part 3, they would be: 1. Mike Lichtenstein - Very unorthodox as he uses a lot of body english and is able to grip the ball and 2. Billy Hardwick - Not an unorthodox bowling style, but an rather unorthodox execution as he bowled almost right down the middle
Larry Litchstein may have then most unorthodox shot ever for the lefty. He has videos on here that would blow your mind. He pulled here at Crossroads Bowling center back in 1993 in the doubles match. The Beaumont Open. If you do a third part, hes a must include
Wow, you actually included my suggestions of Ron Williams and Wayne Webb. I guess since you already put Wayne Webb in, you didn't have to put in Roger Bowker cuz they both did that weird hanging down on one hand thing before their approach. Appreciate that. In a way, Dick Weber himself had an odd form. He was great no doubt and a legend, but he had absolutely NO follow through in his form at all it was so weird. Pete's form is almost the opposite. High backswing, mid side rotation, and total follow through. I'd suggest Dick Weber for your next video. This video is even better than the 1st btw.
I’ve seen Webb in the 90s and he changed his style throwing it holding with both hands, beat amletto for his last win just because he got a back break with a 2-10 in the tenth frame
@@Riz2336Yep I noticed that too. Wayne started using two hands before his approach in the 90s. So weird how it switched all of a sudden but to me, what he used to do should be more taxing on the hand/wrist, especially considering these guys are always throwing 15-16lbs bowling balls, ya know?
@@alonzotanner1226 Yeah holding the ball was taxing his wrist I believe. He also really got a lot more quiet with his release by the 1990s when he started to hold it higher with both hands. Honestly, I always thought resin could have helped him because he had arguably one of the cleanest releases in bowling. That year he had in 1997, honestly I think he could have a few more like that in the early resin era. From that era I think only Weber was better at getting the ball of his hand. I think other off-lane issues started to hinder him towards the 2000s. He won 20 titles and a TOC, but I always thought his physical game was good enough to win more. All that being said, glad he is doing well with his bowling centre in Columbus.
Guess my suggestion for Jeff Roche went unnoticed in the first video. Surprised no one else mentioned him... EDIT: Thanks TRL for proving me wrong and finally including him in your 3rd instalment. Now you see what I've been talking about. 👍
Wayne Webb; He switched to the one handed with the ball held low in his stance because trying the conventional approach was resulting to often in late timing and thus the need to pull the ball through on the release. It made sense and actually a lot of league and high average bowlers started experimenting with this too.
From your accent i am assuming you are British, me and my mates are getting into bowling and want to get our first bowling ball would you suggest going used is good? And with hollywood bowls monopoly its starting to get expensive is there other places that are cheaper?
Daughterty yea and Smallwood too but they're just palm bowlers. Lots of dudes outside the PBA bowl like that. I have 3 cousins alone who bowl like they do. Tackett's form isn't bad. He just bends his elbow quickly before his release in his downswing, probably why he creates so many revs when he releases the ball. Maldonado just bowls with that same stupid two hand form like Ryan Barnes, Belmo, and 1/2 the friggin league righ tnow. Nothing distinctly different from them, though I HATE 2 handed bowling. It's what's kept me from watching the league over the past 7-8 years.
@@alonzotanner1226 to defend the Maldonado suggestion, he bowled most of his career (until like last year or 2022) playing two-handed with his thumb in the ball, like Matt Russo but with the hop
Tackett is far from orthodox most players would strive for his style and power, Rudy revs isn’t really orthodox either I get he flips his wrist but it’s not orthodox, Tim cagle is def orthodox, I don’t see Wayne Webb as orthodox , he just keeps the ball dropped. Ron Williams is def weird, I think buttruff style is mind boggling but the amount of power is crazy he’s good.
The guy whose style completely baffled me was Joe Hutchinson. I always liked seeing him on the show but I always felt his very odd backswing looked too tight and that it would cause elbow problems. Always wanted to see him explain how he developed his swing and if it ever caused him arm problems.
Are you sure Wayne Webb switched back to holding the ball with one hand in the 2000s? Is there video of that somewhere? He won 2 titles in ‘97 and made a couple shows early in ‘00 and I’m pretty sure he was holding it waist high with both hands in all those shows. Thanks for including my suggestion of McNeeley. If you’re looking for more ideas I would suggest Bobby Jacks. He looked absolutely awful throwing the ball.
Although it's not very strange now, I think Oscu/Belmo should be on the list since when they started on the tour, they were the only two that were two handers and everyone was up in arms about it
I roll my dad’s blue urethane Hammer. Too bad if I bowl in the PBA I can’t use it now. I have a reactive and plastic spare I can use though. I’m in the USBC leagues so I’m not worried about urethane rules. My dad would be proud to see me roll it if he were still here.
Arne Stroem who won the Bowling World Cup in 1977 when it was held at Tolworth had a pretty unusual style, he must have been as strong as a ox the way he swung his ball (an LT48 if I recall correctly) prior to his approach . Alas I cannot find a video of his win against Philippe Dubois but found a rather grainy video of a match with Paeng Nepomuceno, himself the owner of a rather eccentric style. ruclips.net/video/hKQkpHvK4YA/видео.html I still cannot believe you do not consider a mention for Scott Devers and can I add Bob Vespi into the mix for any third video.
Forgot the name of the guy slips my mind but he was a lefty in the 90s with the big glasses that had a real weird looking arm swing although he did win some titles. I think he even told Nelson Burton jr. His style is ugly
This is what makes bowling so great. No two people on earth throw the ball the same way. By far the most fascinating element of the game.
That's not entirely true,we had a coach over here who had an army of clones
Aj Johnson and Jason sterner are similar
@@sriley064you'll have following bowling always! Look at the hipsters with the 2 handed deliveries today. Doesn't mean you'll win.

nop, not even that made me understand lol

Billy used a conventional grip, hence throwing the ball down the middle of the lane
Lou Campi was the wrong foot bowler back then, but he sure can bowl like it was nothing.
What a great video! Can't wait for the next one.
As a lefty with an unorthodox but relatively effective style I say keep this series going
Larry Litchstein may have then most unorthodox shot ever for the lefty. He has videos on here that would blow your mind. He pulled here at Crossroads Bowling center back in 1993 in the doubles match. The Beaumont Open. If you do a third part, hes a must include
What about doing a video about pretty swings? I'm thinking Mike Fagan and Tackett have nice looking swings
Love your videos

Cagle versus Garber has to the THE "Unorthodox" match of all time.

A couple suggestions for part 3: Don Carter & Curtis Odom
For Part 3, you have to look at michael lichstein. High Roller champ and arguably one of the greatest amateur bowlers to never go on tour full time.
Oops forgot to include Bob Vespi. His form is weird too.
I remember Ron Williams saying that his backswing just came naturally to him. It wasn't forced.
That 2 handed push from the chest has got to be the weirdest I've seen
I was expecting Roger Bowker. His one handed swing was the simplest I've ever seen,.
How about Ted Hannah's who used to drift about 25 boards every shot

saw a youtube shorts about erich pisarski, definitely an interesting style
Got here early!

We need a The Right Lane bowling style reveal
No Scott Devers or Mike Lichtenstein ....I am guessing there is a third video in the works
Rudy Revs was a legend!!
If you ever do a video on non pba bowler unique styles I got some videos for you 🙋🏻😁
Could you do bill O’Neills best and worst moments on tv?
Good timing! I've been working a worst moments video the last couple of days. It will be uploaded later
You say "what does it matter, if in the end all ten pins fall" but I think I'll stick to 9 spares than do whatever the fuck Rudy Revs is doing lol
I would love to see Alex Huskins on one of these videos

Mike Lichtenstein?
@@MillionaireWizard I remember now, it took me a minute. The guys name was Scott Devers
Bob vespi had an unusual swing
What about Bob Vespi?
Campagnale makes ortho surgeons faint
Chuckers and chickenwingers.
I bowl in the same house as Wayne Garber. Bro can roll. Put some respeck on his name.
Yeah
I don’t see anything wrong w Rudy’s style. He’s got a ton of back swing, but dude can sling it down the lane
Consistency > Quality
If it's effective then it's unique if it's not then it's ugly.
Bob Vespi
Omg
Brandon Novak for sure needs to be in these videos!
He is in ummm...jail and not someone you want to feature in a video.
Tim Cagle ll
Lou campi was the fouling most player ever , he never took advice and was only on tv because of his garbage form .
Bob Vespi's style was ugly
I really dont think you should use the word ugly. Thats offensive. Just use unorthodox. We get your point without being degrading.
No. After watching Cagle, I'd say using the word "ugly" is not only inoffensive it's quite kind.
Cagle just played a lot of street fighter 2 and thought "what if i hadouken the fucken ball?" and thus a star was born
