@@Jmarzx I believe so. Obviously, they're both amazing platforms. The Quadrifoglio just makes you feel more alive. It's an amazing machine. The steering, exhaust sound, handling. Man. To give you some perspective, I have a 911 GTS, and sometimes I reach for my Stelvio Quadrifoglio more than my 911. Something about Alfas!

The Redsport did well considering it's basically a generation behind the M240i. No shame in losing here. But Infiniti really needs to update their line-up though. Have there even been any test mules spotted yet? Or even new engines and transmissions in development?

I think the EV push is going to stop any real engine development that wasn’t already well under way. No need for engines and transmissions in the new world and down here in the states California is pushing to end ICE sales as soon as possible (2035 is on the books and they are trying for 2030 cutoff now). I don’t think many companies will risk dumping R&D money going forward on anything other than EV stuff.
Nothing, unfortunately. Apparently they are in Stage of a 3 stage plan to refresh the brand. The VR30 will likely be their last ICE engine. Apparently the Q50 will be electrified and the Q60 is RIP. There was talk of Infiniti becoming "Nissan +" but there is some history and cache behind the Infiniti brand - its just going to evolve away from GT/Sport cars to battery powered putt putts and SUVs. Sigh....
The previous N55 engine would have still beat the redsport. That's just what it is.
Well it's the same engine as the "new" Z it's not really a generation behind as it's their current generation......the better argument might be it competes with the M440I not this lighter M240I which is quicker than the m440i. Either way price wise thse 2 compete so....

Not quite. Upgrade the mediocre Bridgestones on the Z and they'll be even. Even with the mediocre Bridgestones on the Z and the supervisor Michelins on the Sup, they are still within 0.2s and 1mph in the 1/4mi.

The Ultimate Driving Machine takes this one. The M240 is just a better performing car and you can see the transmission has better response in the shifting compared the Q60s.... even though the Q60s has more hp. I like the looks of the Q60s (even with the outdated techs) but the BMW just can't be beat. Overall, great video!

The extra weight and the transmission let the Infiniti down.
The b58 is a way stronger engine and power is underrated in reality more like 410 hp also the ZF transmission in the BM is by far better and faster then in the infinity. Conclusion the M240 is the more superior car.

Even though supra claps it, and the lower 40k 400z has junk brakes, an OPEN diff(WTF), no dual exhaust, no rays wheels, and is sparse.
The Bimmers are beasts (I drive an M340) but that Infiniti is no slouch.

BMW underrates every single car they make. These M240s are about 400hp at the wheels,STOCK, about 440hp at the crank, more than the Infiniti.
I had Bimmers all my life, great great cars. Today I drive a Q60S RS, and I love it! Yes, it is an old platforms and BMW is always pushing the technology in their cars, so still happy with the RS performance!!

I'm a massive B58 fan, but I think the transmission in the Q60 RS is letting it down a bit. Put a better transmission in the Infiniti, and I bet it's neck and neck.

What the 7 speed does though, it take a lot of abuse - high HP numbers from FBO and tune modifications. Old and sloppy is true but the Q60, out of the box was never intended to be a high performance car. Its a great GT car with comfortable power. The transmission shifts nice under load and soft when you're chill. I totally get what the competition is doing with DCT's and PDK's and ZF units out there and its exposing the weakness of the torque converted old 7 speed unit.

I used to own an infiniti, their power numbers are fiction, BMW numbers are at the wheels.
I own a '22 M240i. 2 things....BMW has dramatically understated the HP. The are videos showing it putting down 400 to the wheels. #2, launch control is nuts and I suspect they are over boosting it. It pulls like a fright train for an alleged 380hp.
I can also say this, the full fledged M2 is going to be BONKERS

For the Infiniti, if you just make your own launch control with brake/gas it jumps hard off the line. From a roll I found manually putting it in the right gear, flooring it, then popping it back to auto for it to handle the shifts worked best. 4th from a 60
BMW always delivers more than advertised. And is the most performance oriented EU brand.

Stinger TT V6 is slow.
The B58 in the new M240i is making 420+ horsepower at the crank. BMW's published horsepower ratings are closer to what they make at the wheels. It's been that way for over a decade. This was a pretty good showing by the Q60, considering.

I’ve raced a couple M240is in my Q60RS. If the Q had launch control it’d be a lot closer, the launch on the M240s is just unholy.

That BMW 3 liter makes at least 420 hp easy
The reason why the second roll race was so much closer was because the transmission was able to be in a lower gear compared to the first roll which started in 3rd gear which seemed odd

Doesn't apply here, the BMW 240 ix curb weight is 3871, the Q60 RS is 9 pounds lighter at 3862.

BMW has stepped their performance game to new levels. Back in the e9x generation, the competition was seriously kicking their arse when it came to NA non-M engines. Nissan's VQ an toyotas 2GR were ahead of BMWs N52 in terms of power output.
Totally agree, this current inline 6 B58 is next level.
e9x generation brought the n54, which hammered every vq into the dirt for miles. e46 generation is what you're thinkin of. m54b30 was the creme of the e46 crop, and it was a lukewarm 220hp motor about the same level of slow as a DE.
@@fry.master yeh but if you re-read my comment I was referring to the Naturally Aspirated non-M engines BMW produced at that time. The N54 being a twin-turbo is a different ball game, and it was rushed to be honest...it was plagued with many issues, although a powerful engine.
Granted the N52 didn't really compete with the VQ37, it still wasn't as impressive as the the VQ which is arguably the best NA V6 ever produced.
@@bobaphat3676 to me the n52 was the mastered version of the m54 the e46 deserved, just too late. The vq has good power but also uses more displacement and packaging… I dunno. I’d rather boost a budget built m54 than vq de, for sure.the stock ecu on the m54 can be boosted on.
The very early n54s were tough imo, I own two 07 cars, built in late 06. One 120k mile, other 230k :)

Definitely the best torque converter auto trans. There are some outstanding DCT’s out there but they often suck in traffic.

Need better drivers. I drive a Q60RS always in manual mode to use the paddle shifters which are more responsive than regular auto plus the gears hold longer. I've need been out preformed from a dig lol.

B58 usually wins in the end, but the vr30 is pretty close given how much cheaper it is.
The Q60 should be manually shifting earlier. It’s a known fact that they don’t make power at redline.
I used to own 2 Q50’s non redsport (2018) and Redsport (2019) both AWD , both ecutek tuned. Shifting this around 6.5k rpm is the sweet spot…

That has to be making closer to 382 wheel bmw always rates at the wheels but puts it out there as crank horsepower this trend started with the 2011 and up BMWs as my E60 m5 made 432 wheel stock
It started with their turbocharged motors. Audi underrated their forced induction motors too

My 2014 535i xDrive stage 1 took a Q60S by a bus length lol. Not sure if bmw hp is under rated or that gearbox on the Q60S kills the power

Yeah it sucks that they turned the 2 series into an ugly car and made it heavy, which was literally the thing that set it apart from other bmw's with the lower weight and shorter wheelbase.

@@MrM4rvelous problem is , the Q60 is based of the same platform that the g37 coupe was based on and that was based on the g35. I have a 2013 G37xS coupe so not hating on them i love them. But i just wished infiniti put the money into a whole new chassis . The 2003 infiniti g35 coupe was a huge success so if they put the money into a new chassis for the g37 , the Q60 would of also benefited from it .

if that redsport is AWD then it is 200lbs heavier than M240i Xdrive.....there is the difference and also Bmer known for low balling HP and TQ numbers as usual....
The infiniti was 200 more pounds and 20 less tq was still impressive. If the q60 was around 3500-3800 with 10 more tq will make a difference. I own a RCF and that thing was 4000 lbs, the car was very planted and feel heavy ass hell

Surprise surprise Bmw underrates their motor specs once again.
man BMWs are getting heavy. The 2-Series is supposed to be their small, lightweight sports coupe and it's approaching 3,900 pounds. Their roadster with the same engine and RWD is now pushing 3,500 pounds. I also find it interesting that the VR looked way more responsive on the roll than the B58...I might normally attribute that to a faster gearbox (not sure if they were in gear already, no audio) but there's no way the aging 7-speed in the Infiniti was faster than the ZF in the BMW.

You can also get it in RWD and then it would be lighter (I think eventually you'll be able to order the M240i in RWD too, in fairness, just not this year, at least in the US)

infinity, lexus, acura and anything like those aren't fast cars, gearbox ratios and software is set having comfort as main goal. They will always LOOSE against ANY car of comparable power to weight ratio.
What do you mean aren't fast? Just because the bmw did the 1/4 mile in 0.2 sec quicker doesn't mean that the Q60S is slow. It's still a very fast vehicle. They both have a top speed of over 270.

2022 Supra, nsx etc. can hang with most cars in their segment of market. even the 08 isf was beating up on a lot of performance sedans in its day. Hell I had a friend with an 08 ISF that was running very low 12’s with a muffler delete. The aftermarket sucked for Lexus when he had it so it wasn’t really mod-able.

Not a fan of the Q60 RS especially the interior ergonomics and that crappy infotainment system. And I'm not a fan of the rear of that Bimmer. I can tell you one thing though. You can do a lot of bolt ons for that Q60 and a dyno tune and push upwards of 500 HP. I'll bet you the new 400 Z will be a better match and nicer looking vehicle. If you try to push that bimmer you could end up with a lot of problems....just saying.

The b58 in that bmw is 10000% easily moddebale and better for modding
@@Pro-habits Nissan doesn’t have a shot! The b58 is by far and I mean by FAR the better engine! For little money the B58 can be close 600hp with bolt ons and a tune..no other car manufacturer comes close to that 🤷🏾♂️

I have a 08 335 e92 with a N54 making close to 500..for around $1400 you can go from 300 crank to over 450whp…what other car from factory is doing that? 2jz is cool and all but BMW can’t be beat in that dept! I’m sure you needed A big single, injectors, pump, boost controller, fuel management so aftermarket ecu, ect..what are you all in for? 6k-7k?..

Why nothing? Lexus= reliability. Something that the Germans doesn't have. For some it's more important. I would take an LAF over any BMW\Mercedes and even an R8.

@@lexman8678 I have a FBO q50 with the same transmission. Unless you are highly modified, The B58 with the ZF 8 speed runs 12.3 in the quarter
