    This was my first introduction to Godzilla and this movie holds a special place in my heart. But after reading more about Godzilla and its lore I understand why this movie gets the hate from hard core fans. The thought of humans taking out Godzilla with missiles is an insult. Just forget everything you know about Godzilla and treat this like a sci-fi movie and your good 👍😌

    Something I really enjoyed about this interpretation of Godzilla is that rather then attacking a city out of frustration or vengeance, the city works more as a its own habitat that Godzilla simply strolls through, I thought it was a neat direction to take

      And that new interpretation actually worked for me.. after realizing it a few years later.
      This.. was one of my childhood films.
      It introduced me to Gojira (Godzilla) in the first place.
      Now, I'm a HUGE fan on the Monsterverse. And I had watched all 4 films, became very interested in the agency known as 'Monarch' and, above all, the monsters themselves. 👍🏻👍🏻
      I can't wait for more. I hope they decide to continue it. It DOES have potentials. They just need to make the stories, settings, characters and the monsters work. That's all.
      They should focus more on the monsters since their names are those films' titles.

    It took me quite a few years to understand why this wasn't "Godzilla." Because Godzilla is more than just a big animal. And he never runs or flees from ANYTHING. And a few missiles certainly wouldn't end him. This movie is not as bad as its reputation but it'd been better served as being billed as a remake of Beast from 20,000 Fathoms or something...not Godzilla..

      Whereas its actual Atomic Breath would appear in the cartoon:
      "When this Godzilla was revived and upgraded as Cyber Godzilla in Godzilla: The Series, he gained a blue atomic breath, much like the Japanese Godzilla's. In some of Patrick Tatopoulos' concept artwork for the 1998 film as well as in some artwork for merchandise related to the film, Godzilla is depicted firing atomic breath."

      Zilla is not Godzilla. Look it up. The monster introduced in 1998 was called Godzilla at the time of the 1998 film’s release. But then Tristar lost the rights to the character after Toho disapproved of the film’s performance, they decided to include the 1998 creature in Godzilla Final Wars only to rename it Zilla. And since then, the 1998 creature has been referred to as Zilla. It was formally known as Godzilla. But now it has been rebranded as a separate character called Zilla.

      heres the thing, this godzilla was meant to be different from all the rest of the franchise. it was meant to kinda be its own thing. thats why he looks so different and does more animal like things rather than being invincible and fighting other monsters
      he was supposed to be more like a new species of a creature rather than some monster in a movie

    • @SharksandDinos
      @SharksandDinos 3 года назад +2

      @@MrMonsterJamFan That is what ultimately killed this movie not only for Godzilla fans, but also critics like Rodger Ebert (aside from the terrible characters and acting.) When you are making a horror film that involves an animal or an animal like creature, the point is to make it more like monster, by either having its size and weight giving off a strong presence, exaggerate some of its 'scary' behavior off fear to have the audiences feel a sense of dread when it arrives either directly on screen, or when the music and scenes are building up to it, or more. Godzilla in this movie is too much like an real animal unlike a monster in the 1954 films where he is an allegory of the atomic bombs that were dropped in World War II in not only the destruction he causes, but also the sense that he cannot be killed with whatever the military throws at him rather it would be from missiles or even atomic bombs. The latter would just make him stronger since he feeds off of radioactive energy and he can tank the blast. The indestructibility is why Ishiro Honda made Godzilla in the first place as already said with the atomic bombs, but his large size makes his indestructibility more believable to where he cannot be shot down with things like a cannon as he stated. So you have to excuse critics and audiences when they did not like that Godzilla was not portrayed as being an indestructible monster that made Godzilla the way he is as a character and the advertisements made for this movie that blatantly tell us this even down to the merchandise made for the film.
